I’m loving this January vlog❤ it’s been a tough month for me- having lost my mom in January many years ago, plus missing my adult sons who live in different states and don’t always visit for Christmas. I get sappy nostalgic putting Christmas away. But I’m feeling such JOY this year! Got out in the yard with my dog this morning -- can’t walk much; we’ve been iced in since jan5 and it was 10 degrees this morning! I read Mark 11 about Jesus being hungry and wanted figs, so I ate 3 dried Smyrna figs and a couple Brazil nuts!….feeling close to Him today❤ and invigorated.

Hi Hilary! Faithful follower, but rare commenter here. Sugar/unhealthy eating habits have been a real stronghold for me. I am doing the no sugar challenge this month and am following your lead. I feel sugar’s grip slowly releasing some. I’ve also started intermittent fasting and am feeling better than I have in a long time. Thank you for the videos and encouragement!

Yes, the goopy nature of English muffin batter is what makes it an English muffin instead of a dinner roll. I have many years of trial and error English muffins behind me and I have found the messier the batter the better the texture. If it behaves like bread dough it will rise like bread dough. I make crumpets too and that batter is even wetter, approaching pancake batter. But the yeast makes those awesome pockets that don't collapse and hold little puddles of butter... and now I want English muffins! 😋

Crumpets took me several attempts and loads of TH-cam "How To" watching but they're super fun to make. I now them them in big batches and freeze them.

The no sugar month is going great for me! After the first 2-3 days, all my cravings and headaches were gone. Now I can look at sweets and easily pass them by. I feel more in control and "lighter" on the inside. Thanks for setting a great example that we can follow!

I’m doing a low sugar month, not a no sugar month as I’m trying to change some eating habits for good. It’s been good actually. Better than expected. I’ve been having one or 2 Hershey kisses or 1 homemade cookie in the evening if I feel like something sweet. Moderation is what I’m working on!

We remodeled our garage in 2022. It cost us $7,000. My husband did most of the work. We spent $1,500 on insulation. We had a company come out. They got every crack. We live in a cold climate also and we are able to heat the garage with two space heaters. My husband took out our garage doors and added a door and two window windows. I’m very glad that he did that. Best of luck on the remodel. It is totally worth it and you will love it. Also with the new square footage definitely increased our home value.

I make sourdough English muffins and do cook them in a cast iron skillet on the top of the stove to brown them. But I've found that I can get the inside done thorough when I pop them in the oven at 350 for an additional 10-12 min on a cookie sheet. My recipe doesn't call for this, I just figured it out because I didn't like a doughy center.

What great memories for the kids to have many years from now, your tea times 😊 they will reminisce about these times when they're much older. We're doing the no sugar, it's been good, easier than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I've had a few cravings, but we ate so poorly for like a month, that I was so sick of sugar so maybe that's what is making it tolerable. My stomach definitely feels better!!

I was so.glad when I first heard you talk about the no sugar January but guess I thought it would be more involved and talked about. I probably am at a much worse state health wise and hoped for more involvement and support, nobody's problem but my own. Hilary you have such strong will as do many of your followers. I've been following since before Lara was born and you had old channel name.
The growth and change I've watched you go through in leaps and bounds. You are a highly driven woman with a strong will. I've gone back and watched older videos for inspiration. I don't know why it's so much more difficult for me than what it should be. My health is very poor and I need this to work for me. Thank you for doing three videos a week in January.

Hi Hilary, I’m doing the no sugar challenge for the month of January. Just veggies, berries, avocado, nuts, seeds, meat, fish and eggs. I’m trying to heal my skin (acne) and many other things. I plan on eating this way for life. Up until now I’ve been a huge binge eater - lovvveeee my sugar but it’s killing me. It’s going well so far. Yesterday I made a chia seed pudding and it killed my sugar cravings!!! God bless you ❤

Me and hubby are both on the No Sugar January! This is our second year to do it. We do a weigh-in on Saturdays just to see what changes occur. So far, we've both lost 2 pounds 🥳 but we feel so much lighter. Not heavy feeling if that makes any sense. Thanks again for your videos, always good to see you!! ❤

I used to be a big sweetener person. Sugar in my coffee, on cereal. Buying all the sweet coffee drinks at Starbucks, but one day I just stopped. I was so looking forward to the fall PSL at Starbucks since it was one of my favorites! Had my first sip of it and just thought, ugh, this is too sweet! I still like honey in my hot tea, but that is about it. No more added sugar. I have been wanting to get outside for walks, but the wind-chill has been too much even for a quick run to get the mail, lol!!

I’m doing pretty good with no sugar January. I did have one very thin slice of homemade pumpkin bread. One of our Pastors and his wife dropped by on New Year’s Day and gifted it to us and had a prayer time with us. I wanted to be able to truthfully tell her it was delicious and I enjoyed it. I froze the rest of it.

Absolutely agree on the afternoon walks. I do the same around 4pm. just to get a bit of fresh air and few rays of that last bit of sun, . Reminds me of how I try to accomplish my goal of 3 MI a day. I will actually break up the 3MI into two sets. Sometimes, walking half on treadmill and the other half outside. splitting the time up in the day.

I’ve been faithful with Sugar Fast this whole month! It’s been easier than I thought. I still have honey in my tea and some fruit. I also made these wonderful PB, Cacao, Coconut Oil, vanilla, honey PB cups you keep in freezer and that’s just perfect.
My MIL made our family of four her homemade cinnamon rolls and brought them over last night. We only get them maybe 2x a year. I thought about it and am going to enjoy one this morning after my work out. It’s a special treat and then I will continue on sugar fast until Valentines. I’m really enjoying it! ❤

      ½ tsp vanilla
      INSTRUCTIONS
      1. Melt the coconut oil on the stove over low heat; blend all the ingredients to the pan

      2. Pour the chocolate mix into paper-lined mini-muffin tins.
      3. Chill for at least 30 minutes or freeze for 10 minutes.
      4. Makes about 15-20 pieces.

for hardness-I keep them in the freezer).

I am following the no sugar month. Specifically for me, I'm eating no candy, cookies, or dessert type food of any kind. So far I haven't. I am still doing my sugar free Redi Whip in my coffee every morning. This is probably my 4th or 5th year of intermittent fasting. I'm diabetic and doing this has helped bring my A1C down 7 points thus far. My doctor says my A1C now classifies me as pre-diabetic, which is great. I am hoping to lose some weight by dropping the processed sugars.

Have you looked into dark chocolate, like 85%? It has much much less sugar than milk chocolate and, in my opinion tastes so much better. Aldi sells a Moser Roth brand of 85% cocoa dark chocolate that has 3g of sugar per bar (25g). I usually find I can only eat half a bar since it’s so rich.

It’s a blessing for sure ☕️ I don’t really do any substitutes. I’ve tried things sweetened with monk fruit or stevia and I can only tolerate a little. The electrolytes I drink have stevia but it’s just a little amount it doesn’t seem to bother me. I think people do have different tolerances/preferences for them, but also, they can have negative aspects as well when consumed too much

At 7:00,I finally found an organizing solution that has worked consistently for the past couple of years. My linen closet is IDENTICAL to yours so I have the clear plastic stacking drawer units (Sterlite?) on the lower shelves so that you can see inside when you pull them open. I have also labeled them: teeth, hair, skin, first aid, soap, etc. I think the difference (in our house)is because you don’t have to (or can’t 🤭) take down a box, remove a lid then repeat in reverse, it makes us more likely to keep it organized. All that being said, yours is way cuter.😊 On an upper shelf I also put two LARGE turntables from the thrift store with cleaning supplies that I’m trying to use up,and refill hand soap, toilet paper, etc. on the other. The shelves are so high and deep,(mine come out all the way to the door trim)so it would just be a black hole otherwise. (Just in case anyone else out there wants to benefit from all of my trial and error, this has stayed organized since we moved in eight years ago)🙌🏻

Good morning! No I don’t, just for our Friday tea time breakfast, or other special occasions. Yes I think you can do them in the oven as well, I’ll have to try them again!

    Happy Monday!
What a dream to walk out your door to all that beautiful nature! 😍😍😍
A cup of hot tea and a bowl of soup after a chilly walk sounds wonderful!

Hillary, I have noticed a new, at least new to me, that top sheets aren’t used anymore. I see that you don’t use a top sheet on the boys beds…. Is that something new?

We're the opposite, didn't use them in the past but got back into using them a couple years ago. Now a top sheet is a must for us.

I've seen that too, especially in Europe. I think that's typical over there. I grew up using a top sheet, and we still use a top sheet. Don't see that changing for me. Lol

I love using a top sheet! I use one for my husband and I but not for my girls. They prefer fluffy blankets.

I do use a top sheet, mainly because it is easier to wash a set of sheets rather than wash the blanket/comforter/duvet. I guess it’s what an individual is comfortable with, to each his own.
