Jason and his Bass Boat Electronics team installed my Quest literally yesterday. These guys know all the ins and outs of installing these high end motors and electronics. Unbelievably good job. Optimized electrical system - wires, breakers, battery sources, cable placement, etc. Every little detail optimized. I know it was a job well done because they go out on the water with you to make sure everything is works as it should before you leave. Having your high end equipment professionally installed so that it functions at it’s maximum capability is the way to go in my opinion. Highly recommend!!!
It is definitely heavy. After being on the water with it I think they are definitely going after reliability and motor efficiency. Also with everyone hanging accessories this is the first motor that feels built to handle the extra payload!
I’ve have nothing but Lowrance electronics, but I’ve never had anything but Minn Kota trolling motors. I know I lose out on some of the functions but I will always have MK TM’s.
The ridged light and nose cone off of the original ultrex will bolt on BUT the nose cone on the quest has a magnet in it that tells the unit when the motor is deployed or stowed.
@@BassBoatElectronics I figured that out the hard way just trying to stop someone else from trying. The screw holes are the same but the ridged cone is slightly thicker than the quest cone so it won’t let the motor lock down fully and the fact that the quest cone has the magnet in it. I went through all of this a couple of days ago and took me a long time to figure out why the quest wasn’t working properly. The reason is I had the nose cone off and it wasn’t reading if it was deployed or not.
I just bought the quest, i cannot get spot lock to work, when i press the button i just get a series of beeps coming from the trolling motor, any suggestions would help
Do you think Trolling manufacturers will ever come out with a left or right pedal design for the top foot button? I wish my push button was on the right side like a motor guide.
I have a 2023 BassTracker Pro 170. You lost me on the nav lights. Did you say with the Ultrex Quest , you loose the capability of using the portable nav lights holder?
@@BassBoatElectronics Looking at this one talks about Advanced gps I assume I can just hook up my old link connection I have? But then seen a comment that it’s not.
@@brianshie2842 the Question series is a link model. All Quest motors have the Link feature. It’s a simple Ethernet connection just like the previous Link models
@@BassBoatElectronics appreciate the quick answer. I don’t think I mentioned the model. Just to clarify would the models with the new advance gps be link compatible. I see quest is the newest but there is another one that has newer remote listed for 2999 that’s not listed as quest. Description ULTERRA 80/DSC/WR. Sorry this sounds silly I just wish Minnekota labeled it better
Depends. You can use the Advanced GPS sensor built into the new Quest line of motors for both position and heading if it is connected on the network. All you waypoints and info will then be marking at the trolling motor position. For a unit a console or other mounting position you would most likely still want to use the separate antenna. For a bow setup in general the external sensor is not needed.
Great job on the video. I currently have Minn kota fortrex with mega 360 and mega live. I want this new quest. Will I have to buy new mega 360 or will my old fortrex mega 360 fit on the new quest tm? Thank you for any information.
You won’t have to buy a new 360 however you will need a new mount for it. You may want to consider trading in your 360 for the new model with warranty or we can get you the mount you will need. They can be pricey though. Call us and we can get you what you need.

Thank you greatly Ed for you business and kind words!
My Quest mount lined up perfectly with the old Ultrex mount holes. Just needed to make the holes bigger for the bigger bolts.
I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about the weight of the Quest compared to previous Gen Ultrex, or other brands.

I need one! You know it!
We have you covered!
Excellent video. Do I need to buy and install 1 Lift Assist cylinder or 2 Lift Assist cylinders for my M360 & Targetlock accessories?
You only need to replace the one cylinder shock! We will have more in stock in two days!

The Rigid light that is built into the ramp for an original Ultrex will not work on the quest series.

Very nice, detailed video. Can i use the troll tamer on my ultrex quest 45"?

lowrance ghost's are interchangeable.
Great video! I have a question, does the one boat network button work with the power pole brand, poles? Thanks
It does not. Only with raptor and talon models.
Looks like a junkyard on the front of a boat...so tall you could hang a basketball goal on it it's so tall...wow...
He shoots! He scores!

I got the Ulterra quest and yes on my boat it covers the nav light hole. I just put the strip of Led nav lights that go under the rub rail.
Would this work on a pontoon? Looking to get a trolling for my pontoon

Are all the new Minnkota models similar to link models?
All Ultrex Quest are link models. They still make a “non link” Ultrex with the brushed motor though.

Is the AS GPS HS puck still needed to get vessel heading?

Can you mount a Livescope Transducer on the shaft?
Can you get a Minn kota that comes with both side and down imaging? I’m new to all this…
Yes you can
Will the Fortrex still go on the Quest bracket if something goes wrong ??
Nope. Bracket is completely different and wider.
How come you didn't mention the fact that there's no longer a GPS puck. It's built into the head unit now
My strap is not long enough to secure the trolling motor

I'll never buy another Minn Kota. They don't stand behind their products.
Hummingbird and Minn Kota sucks. The Garmin Force is 10 times better than any Minn Kota. Same with Hummingbird. They are junk
