The residents of dozens of communes mobilized in an exemplary way to raise the funds needed to buy weapons and sanitary materials. 80% of the war funds needed by the Valcan army were donated by the peasants. After the 1989 Revolution, almost all important events such as Romania's National Day are organized in front of the statue at the foot of Capela Hill.
