Qlab timecode into MagicQ. Part 1

In this tutorial I'll be demonstrating how to setup a Midi Timecode over network from a Qlab [running on Mac] into MagicQ [running on my PC].
Software: latest MagicQ beta 1842 [PC] and Qlab [Mac]
Hardware: Rackmount dongle for MagicQ

I cannot get the mac to see my windows 10 laptop in the directories.. Both can ping to one another, even set up file sharing between the two that works fine.. But it won't show up in midi studio to connect to, tried with two different macbook pro's, any idea?

update to 1905. i helped another user yesterday, he couldn;'t make it work between 2 machines (mac and PC) via wifi. after updating to latest beta - all worked.

Hi, Do you have to have 2 separate computers, one to run QLab and one for MagicQ or can you run it off the same computer?

Hi! First of all thanks for your fantastic video! I’ve a question, I have a MQ60 but I can use only artnet timecode. If I connect a Mac to my mq60 by wire, can I disable the demo mode of MagicQ? So, doing this I will able to receive timecode from Qlab and retransmit artnet timecode to MQ60!

This is possible, the mq60 does not disable the demo mode but even well the option to receive virtual usb midi in magicq

not sure. it might be something to do either with network settings [ip address, subnet mask] or i'm not sure if i'm thinking of the same menu you are referring to. please ask your question in Facebook group: ChamSys users and programmers.

Is it possible to send timecode over USB cable between 2 macs?

not as i know of. rtpmidi normally transfered over Ethernet. if you find a way to do it over usb - please let me know and i can test it.
and it's much much much easier to send data between 2 macs over cat5 or even wifi. especially with mac that has no usb a ports.

Sadly no as mq60 doesn’t support external timecode. Only midi notes triggering
