    阿波踊りの帯結びのやり方を忘れてしまい、動画を探していたので助かりました!
    ここ3年ほど地元ではお祭りが中止されているので、この動画を観たら踊りたくなって泣きそうになりました…

Stumbled across this video because awadori seemed really interesting (watched several videos of it). Didn’t expect the Gab mention in the description

    Thank you for sharing this.
As an American starving for culture, I am more than happy to appreciate another people's culture.
    Well reported!

Thank you for this Awa Odori video! Very informative and fun to watch! I have to make it to this someday to video and photograph! You do. Great job dancing, you must have been taking for a long time! We have a lot of bon dance in Hawaii but don't think we have Awa Odori here. Thank you!

I dance Awaodori in Brazil for over 24 years.

We have a Awaodori group in Brazil under the name Awaodori Represa.
This way off putting the kimono is different.

This is such a great video! Thank you for sharing your Awa Odori experience with us. I’m currently wearing my geta for the first time in preparation for Awa Odori in 3 months... how did you get used to them?!

    使っている鳴り物の音源は何ですか?老人ホームの慰問で阿波おどりやっているのですが、お客様に踊ってもらう時、これを使いたいです!

Lol. I’m not laughing at you but that fact that you tried really hard makes it entertaining. I didn’t see you at Koenji did you do that as well??

The bells at 11:44 sound amazing. What is the purpose of the festival; what does it represent?

    • @readysetkimono4032
      @readysetkimono4032  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

+Unmei It's a festival to celebrate Obon, a time when the ancestors come back for a visit. The dancing is their entertainment.

Ready, Set, Kimono! Ah, that's really interesting. I just read a little about it and being the largest dance festival in Japan it seems like quite the party.

how do u get in the group? I suppose normal ppl can just go there somewhere, learn how to dance and participate in festival?

Goddy Beast the troupes are called ren. It’s not hard to join but hard to do the dance itself. The warm will kill your back and legs before you even get to learn the steps. Almost every prefecture has a ten that does awa. It’s not free to join and you have to buy the outfit eventually after a few times of being embarrassed about borrowing someone else’s expensive kimono.

Hi! I'm actually the girl being dressed in the video. I totally forgot that my friend and I made this! I was able to join this ren because I was teaching English in the area and was interested in doing awa odori. I originally wanted to do the man's dance, but I was terrible at it so I wound up doing the woman's dance, which is why I have this outfit, ha ha. It was free to be a part of my group, save for paying to rent the outfit. Eventually my group ordered new yukata and I was able to purchase that one completely and bring it home! My ren was called Yasaka-ren. We danced year round and traveled to Kobe and Osaka to perform for visitors in the area. Of course we also performed on the big stages during the big Awa Odori festival!
