      Never! But sadly the prices are so weird right now that a new bike made more sense than another used KTM. Thankfully I’ve found a better dealership, they’re just far more expensive than I’d hoped. As soon as it’s out of warranty, I’ll be doing it myself though!!

    Made the same experience here in bavaria with a Yamaha/KTM dealer. Horrible, i told them that there is a strange whining sound from the gearbox in 3. and 4th gear after testride, their answer: well, it is supposed to to so.
    Changed dealer, they are the complete opposite, but sadly 60km away. But guess where I bought the bike….

    One look at the business and you can see that they don't put any money back into the business and that's a Big no no for Me... don't give up on Aprilia they have some of the best bikes built... Yes I feel you right now and that's what makes us go to another brand.. I would call Aprilia Head office and explain your experience with them and believe me a company like that would be All over them.... when I seen that plate for me that was not good tell's everything about that place... I've been to shop's like that and I was in and out...

    There's a lot to be said for riding an older used bike. They're typically cheap, less complicated, easier to work on, and not so dependent on dealers. My current ride was 16 years old with 36,000 miles on the clock when I bought it for $750US. It takes me to all the same places as guys on bikes that cost more than 10 times as much. I gave it a full service over the winter and I won't be surprised if I get another 36,000 trouble-free miles out of it.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I actually totally agree. I spent HOURS trawling through the classifieds for options. The only things that would do what I want would be Honda 750 Africa twin, Yam Super Tenere 750 or similar. Sadly those bikes are CRAZY expensive in Germany right now! Over half the price of a new bike for something over 20 years old! 🤣

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paying that little for a bike here in the UK and you'll get a bike that is falling apart. I paid £2400 for my now 23 y/o Kawasaki Ninja ZX9r in March 2021 with 16k miles, done almost seven thousand trouble free miles until I got unlucky and the head gasket went, I think only due to it being left outside under a cover for five years, otherwise the engine is great, and the bike overall is as good as expected with it's history. There are some great low mileage old bikes at grat prices out there.

    • @AndyManCam

      In this case (and i think I’m most cases in Germany) the answer is in the problem. If your friend has bought 4 bikes from there already, then they don’t feel that they need to work for his custom. Firstly it highlights a very real problem with the current sorry state of the motorcycle sales industry and their apparent lack of interest in actually satisfying customers. My boss had a similarly bad dealership experience, albeit involving a used Mercedes van. He took it to the dealership's mechanic who said it was in perfect working order. However, after driving it a bit he felt the brakes were somewhat unresponsive. He then took it to a different mechanic, who found out there was indeed a problem with the brakes involving the ABS unit AND the servo, meaning the thing was a deathtrap that needed 2 grand worth of repairs. It's amazing how unconscientious some people are.

So although I understand that they potentially could have missed the buckled wheel at the dealership, the thing that got under my skin was not only that they KNEW about it, but that they had already decided for me that it was absolutely no problem. Buckled so hard that the steering wobbles, but that's fine for customers to ride.

      I continually and repeatedly experience awful customer service in Germany. I’m not stuck up, i just expect to get better service when I’m spending my money. I expect to be treated with respect and i expect not to be treated like an idiot. Sadly i have many examples, particularly from motorcycle dealerships, where these things didn’t happen. It’s very different in the UK, where businesses actually know that customers will go elsewhere if they aren’t happy with the service they receive. Here in German it’s often just assumed that the customer is expendable, replaceable, stupid and unimportant.

People over here complain so much about how bad dealerships are because of some fees added to the MSRP but they at least don't play out like a Monty Python sketch. I get turned off from a dealership because it is too corporate feeling not because they treat me like a buffoon.
    In the range of 600 is a good middle ground. The range of a 1,000cc are bikes that have more power than you could ever really use. Where as something like a 300 has all the power you really need. 600s around about are bikes that have more than you need but not too much that you can't use it. Something I don't really like about that bike is the display. I don't really like the bright color screens blasting me in the face in the dark and invisible with the sun beating it. It’s a real shame, because the bike is fantastic! Sadly I’ve dealt with three aprilia dealers now and two of them i will never visit ever again. The third one is on shaky ground due to vastly overinflated prices. But hey, if you’ve got no competition in the area…

    Strange, knowing how you still like to get a shift on and your previous bikes I’d have thought you would find this underpowered. Shocking dealer attitude!

      I know it is weird. Especially as I DID find the Tracer 9 felt a bit breathless. But this just felt strong and torquey. Just enough that I reckon I'd be quite alright with it. TBH my old Versys 650 always had enough go to do what I wanted to do. I was just corrupted by power!!

    Naw. Had you said that would be your next bike, I would have been majorly disappointed. 😜 Might be out of the price range and not exactly the kind of bike you are looking for, but have you had a look at the Moto Guzzi v100 Maranello?

      Stunning bike but yes, way out of both my price range and what I'm looking for in a bike!

      @@AndyManCam yes its true in every big town you can find official dealers, services and after market care....EU make it easier to buy , lot of guys from west European countries bought the motorcycle from Greek dealer's... Check Greek sites of big manufacturers how it is possible.

    If it was me, I'd think about the other Aprilia dealership you mentioned. It sounds like (for the most part) you really enjoyed the bike, you were just given a crappy example to test.

    Unreal. You’re right not to spend any money there. I don’t understand it. You’d think they’d be bending over backwards to get your money off you. Shame, the bike did look nice.. apart from the massively dodgy 80s style fuel cap it had. Once I’d seen it I couldn’t stop be wondering why they thought that was the look they needed. Easy replaced I guess.😮

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally! Except no. They were more focused on being right than getting a sale. Awesome sales craft. Didn’t even offer to take a look at it. I guarantee that bike has gone out for more test rides in the exact same condition.
      I think the fuel cap is purely to save cost and weight. I can imagine it being a bit annoying that you have to put it somewhere while you’re filling up!

    I just switched from a 2018 CB1000R to a 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R. One of the best decisions I have made in my motorcycle career. And they are offering great deals on them as the 2024s are due out. In the states at least.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish they would do that here too. But I’ve already seen dealerships selling old 890‘s for more than other dealerships are selling the new model!! It all makes no sense!!
