I think it’s mad how you’re helping people out by cleaning for free for them yet some people comment about changing your gloves or how you clean while they’re probably sitting at home with a cup of tea or coffee . You do an absolutely amazing job x

In NY there are services for mental health and other social services, but with the apartment in this condition no one would come inside. This cleaning is so important to start the process of getting other types of help. And eviction is a real possibility if a tenant has an apartment like this. So Barbie is not just cleaning, she's helping keep this person off the street and making it easier for her to get even more help if she chooses to. That is such a wonderful thing to do for someone! Keep up the good work Barbie!

If there's another child, this cleaning would also satisfy Child Protective Services (I hope). Parent/s can lose custody under such circumstances.

I understand her mission. ❤❤ To her. But let's look at this in 1 month on a revisit. This was a upscale low income apartment with fixtures and name brand appliances. The Great working people of NY are funding these conditions. Time will tell but sadly this resident is beyond mental illness.

@@beverlymartin1414 Now this apartment is sanitary enough so that this person can get social services and hopefully the right sort of help. The great working people of NY are also funding illegal undocumented aliens that are put up in very nice hotels and given money for living expenses. Some may be gang members because they were completely unvetted. I would be in favor of stopping those programs prior to not helping Americans get the help they need. There are many homeless people living on the street that should have been given help before these unknown foreigners.

I'm a recovering hoarder, I understand how a house becomes this dirty. Although my home has been clear for almost year my anxiety over my home becoming a dump again is overwhelming. Something as simple as a dirty coffee cup in the sink will lead to compulsive over cleaning including vacuuming my dogs luckily they enjoy it. Just saying mental illness wither it be hording or over cleaning is no joke.

Hi, I worked in the Health and Safety industry for 35 years as an Associate Safety Engineer/Associate Industrial Hygienist for Cal/OSHA Compliance, an Environmental Health Specialist for LAUSD EHSB and over 3 years in the private sector as a Project Manager and a Field Technician, that’s admirable the work that you do for extreme cleaning of hoarder homes. That’s very good that you’re wearing a 3M half face respirator with dual stack cartridges (HEPA/multi vapor) while clearing out the garbage, debris, etc in these homes. I do have some personal protection equipment suggestions. I strongly recommend using coveralls (white suits) at least one, maybe two, slip resistant safety shoes, goggles to protect your eyes from splashes and/or flying objects, two pairs of gloves (a thin nitrile glove and a rubber glove over that) and that should cover it. If you wish, you can upgrade to a full face respirator (it has a higher protection factor of 50 versus 10 on the half face respirator), it will give you the eye protection and use the dual stack cartridges that you were using. Ventilation of any kind that you can get I.e. opening windows, using any exhaust fans can be helpful.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
    Good luck!

If you have a home like this and just don't know where to start: start with clothes and trash first. Have different colored bags for sorting. Clear for dirty clothes and white for clean clothes. Use black bags for garbage. Use boxes for donations. When sorting recycling: use clear bags for bottles and cans. Fold down boxes and place inside bigger boxes for easy removal. I suggest also have small garbage cans near high traffic areas. By a couch or recliner where you sit and eat, by your bed, in your bathroom and in your kitchen. Take out your garbage whenever you leave your home. Best wishes!!💙🙏💙🙏💙🙏💙🙏

I remember being 23 my husband left me after I had my daughter and I fell into a very horrible depression and my apartment got really bad. Fortunately I didn't develop an issue with alcohol. I remember it was one of the worst years of my life. But fortunately my children were and are my strength and I cleaned that apartment, but I tell you it would have been really nice and comforting to have someone like you to help me because it was difficult and I cried A LOT! I'M 40 NOW!!!!! My oldest is 22 and if I am ever given the opportunity to help a young mom the way I needed help I'd definitely do it. So much respect and hugs for you. You are amazing. ❤❤❤❤❤ P. S. I'm in the process of trying to get my house back now. Meaning back in shape. I left it 2-3 years ago and the rats got in and made things worse. It's hard because I have issues with bending and working long on my feet, but I'm trying to take it one day at a time. Your videos have given me a bit more confidence to try to work harder even when my body hurts. Sometimes I am down for a day or two after, but I am trying to reclaim my house back. Thank you for these videos.. I really wish you were closer. I look at how you clean and it helps me learn how to tackle something I didn't know how to start to tackle. So thank you. I watch how you do it and I try to do it that way too.

I have lost my baby boy 18 years ago when he was stillborn after partner abuse 😢 I went through a lot, really a mountain, but I made it. Due to the abuse I wasn't able to keep a baby, I got pregnant for 3-4 months and it always resulted in miscarriage also due to the years of abuse. I had 8 miscarriages and 1 stillborn son, my mother died at a young age (she was only 56). And through all the problems, heartaches and physical pain of the abuse and mental health problems as depression and panic attacks I found my current husband and we went through a lot together but we stand for each other as a mountain.

Use a dust pan and broom or even a grabber but not your hand it can be a matter of life and death. People use needles and all kinds of things that could be a danger to your health. So sorry to to disagree, but different people handle it different ways. Sometimes the task is absolutely too big for you to overcome. There is so much to do that you are overwhelmed and don't know where to start. If a person also has ADHD or ADD in relation to the depression or are perfectionists, you procrastinate on starting because you will feel as though you will be unable to finish it to your satisfaction. You can't point fingers unless you've been in someone else's shoes. Barbie you are an angel to give of yourself in this way.

I see a lot of negative comments about how this person lives in trash, and it's saddened me because that's the only thing they picked up from this video. The woman who lives in this apartment, has depression, trauma and God knows what else. Some people may have those factors happened in their life, but didn't drive them this far into giving up. But, to others, they can't because they lose the purpose of being alive, instead of committing suicide, they stay alive just for the sake of breathing. They can barely muster energy to even eat. Problem is with our society, there no sense of community in a lot of places, especially in big cities. No one checks their neighbors, or care to help when help is needed. Can't imagine how do the elderly live alone.
God wants to save this woman, that's why she asked for help. Cleaning and organizing her living space will help her organize her head and motivate her to get treatment... I wish her a speedy recovery and amble support until she does ❤
And thank you for cleaning her apartment, may God bless you 🙏🏼
