Great video of such a lovely couple and discussion. As a Spaniard there are a couple of things I would like to point out: Some Spanish people are materialistic and the weather in Northern Spain is similar to the UK- Spain is a diverse country and yes it's not always hot. I am also a little fed up with the Spanish people stereotype of being laidback. Yes we tend to deal well with stress but, people work very hard in Spain and also get stressed. It's only that we don't show it as much as other nationalities. I am so happy for you and you obviously respect my home country and have integrated well. I have been living in the UK since 1987 and love my life here too. It's a beautiful country and yes the weather is not always great and yes I struggle during the winter due to the lack of light. To overcome this, I try to go out during the day to get some daylight. I also love the pubs and the logs fires. No country in the world is perfect and life is what you make of it. By the way, there's a lot of Graffiti in some parts of Spain too. Gracias por el vídeo. Saludos y hasta luego! ❤
i came to spain 18 years ago after losing my husband. i was 63. i had lots of arthritis which went after a few weeks..there is no comparison in living conditions as far as bills go. you work just to pay your bills in the UK.i am off grid, so no leci bills. 8 euro a week covers the other bills. to wake up to the sunshine nearly every morning as i live in andaluthia is like paradise. the air is so clean. the stars look as if they are hanging in the sky.one more hour of daylight too. i am 81 now and healthy. i dont even think i would be here if i hadnt moved to spain. such a beautifull country full of freindly spanish people.
UK is not totally blown, stop believing all you read. UK has its challenges as I know Spain does. I lived in the Gulf for 4 years and returned to the UK during Covid for family reasons. The UK has lots to offer, however the weather in parts of Spain (and even more so in the Gulf) makes life seem easier even tho the same challenges exist. I think it comes down to how you welcome change, some people thrive on it and some people fear it. You can always come back home, so I would nudge anyone thinking about moving to do it as life is too short not to try something different.
My husband died after 4 years in Spain, I lived there alone for another 20 years even moving house about 80 miles away. I always said that I would leave Bolnuevo where I had a 3 bed detached with a pool and views of the Med, in a box but I returned to the UK 6 years ago.. Have I any regrets .. absolutely not. There's more to do for solos here. I had English friends who had holiday homes in Spain so quite often I'd nobody to hang out with but I've seen more of Spain than I ever saw in the UK as I went on coach holidays with the Spanish people Fortunately I learned the lingo. I still have an outdoor life here and walk every day. My immediate neighbours are not materialistic one bit and when walking into town everyone will say good morning. I only miss the 2 hours more daylight that Spain has in winter. I certainly don't miss the Summers and the hot weather. I hate the snow here but we don't get that much in Yorkshire. I'm sure if my husband hadn't passed we'd still be in Spain. I certainly saw more of the family when I lived there. I never saw a doctor in Spain in all the years I lived there but my husband did and I agree they were fantastic. However since I returned I've had a few health problems but I have to say the NHS has been fantastic in spite of everything we hear to the contrary. I wish you all the best in the future and hope you both have a long and happy life in your retirement x
Well done guys, super informative and a realistic point of view. Hubz and I moved to Spain and built a house during the Pandemic and like you both, we’re heading towards the end of our 4th year. We’ve had many ups and downs here like you would anywhere, but moving country and basically your whole life takes courage and a lot of grit - Rome was not built in a day and it takes a lot of time to find your way. We’ve made mistakes, we’ve learned and as year 5 approaches, we can honestly say we now feel settled and have a sense of this is our home and where we belong. Scotland will always have a little piece of our heart and you never know what the future holds, but given the choice we would never go back and we’re proud of our journey so far 😌
We were in Santa Pola last Sunday absolutely beautiful. Alas today we’re back in cold ,wet and windy Dublin. Plan to get back out next February. Great video, many thanks.
Thank you for posting this. Yes many reasons but I think it's a double standard if anyone says it's a language barrier/problem. You know day one you are moving to Spain. They speak Spanish here. How many complaints do you hear in the UK that migrants don't learn English when coming there. And yes I agree 100% there is a cultural difference that you get so many more benefits from if you just try. Hire a translator if you have a primary Hospital visit, the Dr or Specialist may actually speak English but show some respect to them first and go from there. Listen thank you guys, will sub 😊
I live in France and have done for the last 20 years, I am 10 kms from Spain's border, so I'm spoilt for choices and cross over the border for rambling or going to restaurants practically every week. Both Countries are wonderful with an amazing health service here in France. No way would I ever contemplate returning to dreary shabby Britain
We are just reaching our third year in Spain and I can honestly say we will never go back to the uk, I could post so many reasons but I will give just one, our council tax in the UK was 2200 pounds per year, we now live in a three bed two bath detached bungalow (mortgage free) and last year our TOTAL bills, council tax, electricity, water came to 1700
I’ve lived more years outside of England than in England now (just hit 66) and never regretted a day of it, but it takes a certain type of person to to look forward and not back. Glad you guys are enjoying yourself. Cheers
My wife and kids got here on their NLV on April 1st 2023, living in the Vega Baja. Kids are now bilingual, it was that and the weather that attracted me to Spain. I still go back and forth for work. Not sure if we'll ever base ourselves in Scotland again.
Been following you for some time now from Sri Lanka. Planning to relocate to Spain and not sure about where to exactly… you videos give a realistic impression of what to expect… very helpful and much appreciated…
Living in California, born in Ireland with with house in Gran Alicant I have to agree with everything about the quality of life, cost of living etc. Hoping to make a full time move soon.
We moved back to the UK from Spain after 2.5 years, our friends did the same thing the best decision thing we ever made. We missed the buzz of life and soon got fed up with visiting the same old places. All the removal lories that bring Brits to Spain don't return empty. When we bought our villa the bank charged us 1200 euros just for accepting our money (that was in 2002), our friends were charged by the local council 2000 euros because they sold their villa. It gets to hot in the summer and can get very cold in the winter. The people who bought our villa skipped the country so the bank took it over then another couple bought it and were charged 10,000 euros as the council thought they hadn't paid enough for it. My advice would be to rent a place first then decide if you wish to stay. If you do buy deal direct with the home owner as estate agents can charge the seller whatever they like.
Did you actually mix with the locals , I’ve lived in Fuerteventura 27 years and I love the place , I’m immersed in the island and try my best to integrate something most Brits don’t try to do hence their disappointment after 2.5 years…Maybe I’m lucky I don’t need to watch every penny so enjoy eating out regularly, tv for me is only for football …
Didn't mix with the locals as we were had a villa amongst mainly Brits. I retired at 51 and perhaps not ready to sit in gods sunny waiting room. I would spend more time cleaning the pool than in it, play scrabble with the wife through boredom argue over the game and have a few drinks. We missed the simple things like not seeing a postman and other things that make up the fabric of life in the UK' By the time we got op and ready to go out siesta time would be on us. I once went into a pharmacy to buy an electric toothbrush but was ushered out of the door! It's different to go on holiday to a place than live there. A lot of the villas where we lived were holiday homes so come winter most were empty.
We take on board all your points we've sat on the fence for nearly 4 years now doing our 90 days in and out. Apart from the long drive 4 times a year with our dog for now we have the best of both worlds but we are afraid we might regret someday not moving over full time especially as we bought our property before brexit and could have got residency ....
I returned from France because things got difficult after brexit and i wanted to be around family. The healthcare where i live is fantastic and I love being here. I tend to spend time in south spain in the cold winter though.
Come next Easter I'll have been here for 40 years. I stayed mainly because I married a Spanish woman and I found a job as an English teacher. So I had to become part of the local community where I live, which is in a small town in the mountains just outside Madrid. Spain is not all costa, and I sometimes wonder when I visit the coast how the "ex pats", as they tend to call themselves, manage to live. Do they integrate, do they take part in local events and become part of the local community ? Or are they forever on holiday ? I'm retired now so I do voluntary work giving English classes in the local library so that I can give back a little to the country that gave me so much....
Many pensioners return for care at home it is very expensive here, many older folks retired here when a basic pension covered cost of living with ease but as time goes on savings once safe are now helping with expenses for everyday bills its getting harder as people over 70 are finding it difficult just to pay bills ,health problems for us is the only reason we moved here, not to party and sit by the sea etc just to get medical help and ease our situation as uk nhs really let us down 22 years ago ,here we have respect being old and long term illness is respected but without a carer once one of us dies help at home is very sparce ,or private beyond our pocket ,thats the only reason l worry about being widowed here .😢
I hear you and have commented in a post previously. I’m a retired registered general and paediatric nurse and have lived and worked in various places around the globe but have lived in Australia for the last 30+ years. I think people need to seriously consider that while we all living longer , at the same we might be living with more than one health condition! And that costs money whether you are in the world. Unfortunately care for elderly is not universal and standards vary as does health care. Many countries have stringent rules and regulations for retirees for that very reason. I had the privilege of doing some for aged care training for workers in Thailand , and while they were lovely people , sadly they are 50 years behind and that’s no exaggeration. Is it really fair that expats that retire overseas who subsequently support the host countries economises for decades, suddenly return home because they need care in an aged care facility or care at home? The nhs and social care are already on their knees. More and more countries are having to waken up to this.
Santa Pola is lovely, some nice restaurants by the beach and near harbour. Most importantly a lovely sandy beach and you can walk for miles.in summertime the boat goes to the island of Tabarca which is a great day trip. Thanks for showing some me of the best of the area.
Good video. It seems a shame to me that when people feel that they need to go back to the UK, I'm sure that the grass isn't always greener, as for example accommodation in the UK costs so much - that this then impacts on their overall quality of life.
What region is Santa Paola ? I love watching your videos but I would like to know where you are regionally. Greetings from Dublin 🍀🇮🇪I moved back home to Ireland in 2021 from 30+ years on Long Island NY. I must say I’m thrilled to be home and I love our temperate climate here compared to New York. My main purpose of being here is to care for my dad who is 90 years old and has vascular dementia. What I like about being back home again is I fit right back in again. I doubt I will ever go back to the USA again to live but definitely for visits because I’ve 2 grown kids there! And like yours, my kids love coming here for holidays! So people come and go for all kinds of reasons and I knew when I lived in America that I would come home again, that I didn’t want to end my days there. Anyway, I love watching your videos, keep up the good work! 👍
@ yes I lived in East Islip mostly. Montauk is lovelyand I’m not surprised you miss it. It’s a bit of a hike for me though. I spent a lot of time at cupsogue beach in westhampton at the very end of Dune Rd. The water is like the Caribbean there and they have a food shack and bands playing. Great spot! Where are you living now ?
Thank you both for your posts, which I am enjoying and finding very informative. I want to move to Spain myself and would love to meet up with you. I am planning a month visit in March/April 25. Regards, Graham
Nicely done guys, you enjoy every moment away from the matrix! UK and the West is unraveling for a variety of reasons. You’ve worked for it, done the research, good luck to you 👍🏽❤️🍷
Obviously looks beautiful, but Im sorry but you cant beat the beautiful english countryside, not to mention the beautiful beaches in Wales. I live in Liverpool, and Go to Anglessey on the regiulars and would truly miss the landscape of the British isles, and yes I love the spring, summer autumn and being wrapped up warm on a winters day, in front of a fire is bliss. Enjoy your spanish life Im sure its lovely.
Santa Pola is good unlike torre you can go a few streets back from the sea front and its still good. Similar to OH costa money is raised from Gran Alacant and spent on Santa Pola. When we first moved to Spain we met people who could not stand the heat in July/ August, I now struggle during those months. Before moving here we spoke to a couple who were aged 50 and asked what about leaving parents back in the uk. Their answer was by not making the move would be like waiting for them to die. A majority of elderly parents don't just not wake up one morning. They go through quite a long period of deterioration before the end. Dementia etc and although i have 2 sisters in the uk one can not wash their hands of the situation. Moving over here was the best thing we did but be prepared for situations that will test your conscience .
I stay not too far from you guys (near Almoradi), have been here for over 10 years now, and absolutely nothing will get me to move back to the UK. I don´t even like the odd time I have to go back for visits. Of course everyone is different and I´ve known some who have gone back, but it has always been forced by circumstances, not through an open choice.
Can you make a video about paperwork if you live in Spain, especially financial side of things, paying taxes in Spain, how was it changing over from paying taxes in the UK, moving money from UK to Spain, how do you set up council tax type payments, car taxes etc. etc. Thanks :)
Enjoying the coverage of the reality we are just at retirement age and have discussed the issues would love to move over but in reality more likely to do some longer rentals that would make sense to bring our dogs so anything covering letting and vets would be interesting health cover. Its great to see karen healthy and the 3 of you enjoying your lifestyle and as you said santa pola looks great never thought of it policia presence makes it sound a good safe place 😀👏more please
Coming into my 11th year here (left at 24) and it's wild to think what I've done. I can't imagine going back but I really need to sort out a long term plan. At 35 I dunno what the hell to do with my life career wise but I've carved out a life here and with the conditions Brexit has forced on us, I'm lucky to have my permanent residency but it doesn't allow for much flexibility.
I am watching it from my apartment in Benidorm where I live, thinking about how cold it is back in Saltcoats my home town. I do miss my home at times, however, I couldn't cope with the cold weather. 🌞
I’ve lived away from the UK for more than 40 years, will never go back. I live in Mallorca, and when I look at the places such as this on the mainland, Mallorca is beautiful. The likes of Santa Pola, are really quite ugly compared.
You are so right about the people in the UK it’s all about the car you drive and how you appear outwardly. I find UK people to not be genuine everything seems to be about networking and appearance! Freezing here in the UK I noticed that it is in the mid 60’s in southern Spain - my only concern would be it getting too hot for me in the main summer months 😊
Old people needing free healthcare is a very common reason . The UK hospitals are creaking but over here if you have no money or assets you can get nurses and carers looking after you at home for free and if you cant manage with that then a free residential home and if you cant manage with that a free nursing home . Also the people looking after you can speak your language .
Thanks guys. Over the last 30 years not one of the 7 couples we know that went to Spain (unfortunately the main reason in every case according to them was that the UK was full of immigrants, which is ironic really) They have come back due to divorce, illness etc. Now they can't afford to buy a property back here. All went and came back pre Brexit. Now we see the main complaint is it is too hot. I have to agree 42c and rising every year is not fun. It's the green I miss when I'm in Spain.
Love the smirk on Barry face when Karen said WE try to read all the comments. Thanks guys for the vlogs, I'm still watching and thanks Karen if you get to read this😂
@johnharper6309 Kj reads most, I don't have the time to read them. I will try to catch up on a Sunday. We are thinking about doing LIVE Q&As to make it easier for people to ask stuff.
Respect and admiration for both of you and here is why: back in the old Yugoslavia, it was rare or almost unheard of to hear 'return to YU' from a Slovene or a Croat living abroad. But, the fact that you said 'UK' rather than Scotland says a lot about the strength of the Union and how Unions of nations only work if there is true democracy and people genuinely wish to live together. Slightly off topic here, but I am so proud of both of you.
Many people who live in or around Elche have second homes in Santa Pola. As you said it has a lovely sea front. It’s also really long going from playa lisa right up towards Arenales.
we are keen to move to spain, the 90 day rule is a factor, we like Alcázares will rent for a few months , through the winter , to get a feel for what it’s like i get mixed messages what it is like, so need to try it for ourselves
@ArrowfieldMan I was very happy working like a dog to pay autonomy....then I was illegal...whilst some that payed zero in autonoms with a crooked gestor just got a T.I.E number very easily...
The 90 day rule is only for non-residents. If you had already established a life in Europe you could generally get residency if you hadn't got it already, then you can stay as long as you prove you can afford to take care of yourself.
@markmitchell590 I owned a house and had 4 years paying autonoms here, but still became illegal without a T.I.E card...curiously has the same number as my previous N.I.E...meanwhile there's some in same village, never work, don't pay autonoms that with a fairly crooked gestor got a T.I.E easily....😂
A great many abused the residency rules and until Brexit hid away and where not noticed. After that they would run across difficulties with vehicles, taxes etc Seen many sell up when the police started asking questions about residency.
Thinking of moving over but we have two Irish setters who like to run a lot . Any time I’ve been all dogs seem to be on leashes.. can dogs run on beaches in winter …just discovered your very interesting videos
I live in Spain and you are so right. I am lucky at present where I live, however, in the past I've had some terrible experiences with the farking buckers.😂
I loved watching this video! We are going back to Santa Pola for a holiday in December and are hoping to move there at the end of next year. Do you have any tips about the best way to find accomodation, having moved around in the area yourselves? Thanks!
Don’t you think that people should consider getting older? What’s the standard of care like in aged care homes? As a retired registered nurse now living in Australia for the last 35years and having worked in a few places around the world, I know first hand that the standards of care homes vary greatly from country to country, as do the qualifications. For example you can’t get employment as an aged care worker here without a basic vocational aged care accredited qualification of are prepared to undertake it as part of a traineeship. This has helped improve the standards , has helped professionalise the workplace as well the pay and conditions of workers. Care workers in Oz earn considerably more than their uk counterparts. And do is it actually fair to bolster the hosts economy sometimes for decades and then expect the uk to pick up the bill and cost for aged care when returning back to the uk? The nhs as well as social care is on its knees in the uk. Everyone knows that as soon as a health collar is earned it’s spent! I know that Oz has very stringent regulations regarding this. All of the developed world is experiencing challenges in this area.
@@keepingitreal618 I never said it was totally free. But the government does kicks in when the money runs out! And it’s is free as long as there is a live spouse living in the family home. As I said before , there are rules and regulations , some quite complex and it’s hard to keep up with the changes. And Scotland is different to England. The ignorance around this subject is astounding as is the sense of enlightenment!
What age group do you guys fall into? We've been in Spain a little longer than you guys, we live in a small mountain village and love it but as one of us has just reached pension age and now is the time to travel and visit lots of different countries. Not to hibernate. We may like many expats finish up in Spain or some other warm climate. Also,I'm not bothered about materialistic so-called joys of life. I'm a socialist at heart and have learned not to put people into boxes and generalise. The reality is that everyone is different. Anyway, love your channel.
Realised how lucky we were today in Spain. Blue skies, sunshine and coffee in the town. Definitely a feelgood factor. Will visit England in the spring when it's beautiful.
Hi guys, greetings from up north, Guadalajara, but Breaksit is the elephant in the room....my poor uncle had to sell his beloved finca in Coin and return to the UK for treatment after he developed leukemia
You’ve both had health issues. Any chance you could discuss other people experiences of the Spanish NHS. It’s a big issue for those of pensionable age that can move over to Spain and have an S1 to be treated on the Spanish NHS for free. The UK government picks up the bill.
We are all living longer and longer and sometimes with multiple health issues. It’s for this reason that countries are having to take stock , including the uk, to impose rules and regulations on retirees. Do you really it’s fair on uk tax payers , that retirees living overseas sometimes for decades and therefore boosting the host country’s economy, should suddenly return back and then expect to be cared for? And for those that claim they paid into the system, they need to be reminded that as soon as a tax pound is rearmed it’s spent! And the nhs and social care are on their knees.
If you have plenty of money you can stay with me.😂 Seriously though, unless you have some sort of support network or contacts to get you started it can get painfully lonely here, so I wouldn't do anything impulsively. Go online and google "Expats Costa Blanca" you can get plenty of advice and information from others like yourself, but remember you can only do 90 days max and then leave for 90 days etc. Best of luck🌞
I've lived in Spain for twenty fours...l never have any desire to return to UK. For one thing l couldn't hack the awful UK weather any longer, especially as I've grown older, the health service is far superior..For the retired Spain is a lovely country to live in. My wife and l bought an apartment in Playa Lisa Santa Pola in 1996... move to Spain permanently in 2000.
Yes, that’s “home”. It’s where we were born, it’s where our parents live and families too. We will always call Scotland “home” because that’s where we come from. “Home” is where my mum lives! It’s where we go back to visit, like the song says… “Driving home for Christmas…”. It’s a word that means where you live but also describes your roots, where you come from. Current home is Spain.
Northern Irish guy here, I just attained my Irish passport. I've got a UK passport and Australian permanent residency. Lived in Australia most of my adult life, not up to speed on EU laws but can I live and work in Spain with my Irish passport? Wifey and I love Spain, we've visited the country six times in the last two years. Cheers.
Don't know the answer to your question for certain but I think you can. My daughter has an Irish passport and it's a godsend. Travelling is so much easier from England as no having to keep going back.
@elizabethferrier6429 we're in a fortunate situation in N.Ireland regarding our ability to have a British and/or Irish passport. My Australian wife is also able to attain both British and Irish citizenship through marriage. As we've discovered the Irish citizenship route is the much cheaper and easier option.
I must be really stupid because I would have thought and considered all the reasons for leaving BEFORE I left the Uk to go to Spain. I would have learned Spanish too.

Not being funny, racist or xenophobic if anything it's anti-labour party and British government but he UK now only really cares and caters for illegal immigrants, heinous criminals and person non-white and not born in the country. this is fact and not a slur. when returning to the uk after living overseas for a time you have to be aware of these changes and you need to come back with a home and job to go to, or lots of money and you don't need to work. do not rely on the government, local council, job centre to help you..!
Hi guys, another good video! I'm thinking of buying a second home in La Mata or Santa Pola? Which one would you recommend? Are property prices similar, or is Santa Pola more expensive?
Hi folks, great video, would love to make the move to Spain in a few years when i retire but im type2 diabetic and need meds to control it. Where would i stand if i was living in Spain full time and what other hoops would we need to jump through? Anyone?!🤷

Would be interted to know . What are the bills like a month electric, heating, petrol, food shopping etc . Myself and my wife will be relocating hopefully in two years . Thanks
hi guys love the videos iam currently in Goa for 4 months over the winter iam from uk ,just wondered is it possible to get a visa so you could spend 4 months in spain over the winter or would I have to go home after the 90 days thanks
We took lessons when we first moved to Spain and we moved here pre Brexit so no visa required. We have residency and right to work under the withdrawal agreement.
I see this as a good thing, I don't think it's correct to come here having worked all your life in another country and then clog up spaces in hospitals. I've been hospitalized here and was amazed how many elderly OAP's were in the ward. No wonder you can't get appointments.
My wife and I have retired recently. We have now a joint income of around £2,800 per month. I have heard this would not be acceptable with Spanish Government as enough to live there. ?
I am resident here, don't quote me, but you have to prove yearly income of 28k for one person and 7k for every other family member, plus 1 years paid up private health insurance each. It sounds as if it could be doable for you, however, I could be wrong with the financial requirements as things are changing all the time here. I was lucky as I've lived here for 25 years and had no problem getting resident status. You know what they say?... If there is a will, there is a way, best of luck🌞
Yes, it gets mega-busy in the summer with all the holidaymakers going to Tabarca Island. But it has a more relaxed feel than other seaside towns. 10 mins from the airport and 20 mins into the City of Alicante.
@@colinness9795 My mum lives there. It has a LIdl a Carrefour etc for groceries. it has furniture shops/ pharmacies and lots of clothes shops. if your looking for a shopping mall then its Alicante really but thats not far. Visit and have a walk round. its lovely. worth a long weekend to get a feel for it.
Thank you for another great and informative video. The only thing I can disagree with you is GRAFFITI! We travel to Spain in our motorhome every year for up to 4 months in total. (Barcelona, all the Mediterranean Costas etc) and our only gripe is there is so much more graffiti in most places we visit….even on the outside of trains. It’s a minor issue in the grand scheme of considerations, but you mentioned it.
When you live in Torrevieja and register with Local Health centre, San Luis for me, When you make appointments and you return say a month later am I going to see the Same GP or different GP who might just look up my health chart, as back home 🏡 in Ireland, I see the same GP, I would like to be able to see the same GP, I have health issues but under control with Medication, but need regular Check up, would I be able to continue with Spanish health Centre, I am a Pensioner, would I have to pay for attending a GP. I find cost of living similar to Ireland , but I don't use as much Diesel or Heating Oil Why not do a video about Pink Lake in Torrevieja around Torreta 3 area and compare it to Pink Lake in La Mata, Torreta 3 totally neglected, Why I ask myself, as it would benefit that part of Torrevieja, not even a Dustbin to be seen😢😢😢
Brexit has put a massive spanner in the spokes , I myself don’t want to live full time in Spain as Scotland is great in the months outside winter 🥶 ( which here is 6 months unfortunately 😡) ,,,, but I would like to stay 6 months of the winter there …. But brexit which forced the kick in of the 90 day rules put pay to that 😡

I left Spain having lived there for four years, for family reasons. However, my heart is still in Spain 🇪🇸.
Do you ever feel that it's wrong to own second properties when so many people don't own anything

Love this 🥰
@@ScottishCoupleInSpain Thanks guys, kettle is always on in Guardamar for you 🥰

Thank you for posting this. Yes many reasons but I think it's a double standard if anyone says it's a language barrier/problem. You know day one you are moving to Spain. They speak Spanish here. How many complaints do you hear in the UK that migrants don't learn English when coming there. And yes I agree 100% there is a cultural difference that you get so many more benefits from if you just try. Hire a translator if you have a primary Hospital visit, the Dr or Specialist may actually speak English but show some respect to them first and go from there. Listen thank you guys, will sub 😊
Couldn't agree more......
We lived in France for 10 years. It’s easy to underestimate just how much you miss your family and friends.
The sun on your back really helps with your wellbeing.
Wish I was there x
It certainly does
I live in France and have done for the last 20 years, I am 10 kms from Spain's border, so I'm spoilt for choices and cross over the border for rambling or going to restaurants practically every week.

@declankenny9067 with an Irish passport can you live and work in Spain? Just recently acquired an Irish passport. Cheers.
Brexit has dimmed the Spanish dream of course! I've been in some very good Spanish hospitals. You are lucky to get a bed in UK!
We missed the simple things like not seeing a postman and other things that make up the fabric of life in the UK'
By the time we got op and ready to go out siesta time would be on us.
How can people afford to come back to the UK!?
Handy to have such a place so close to UK.
Lots of Seattle people have places in towns like Palm Springs for winter.
great video as i sit here in scotland cold and dark

I have been inspired by your video to move to Spain. We are looking into it and your video is encouraging. Thank you. Keep up the good work.👍
Santa Pola is good unlike torre you can go a few streets back from the sea front and its still good.
I have lived in Spain for ,55 years I have a Spanish family I worked in the Embassy for 40 years
Can you make a video about paperwork if you live in Spain, especially financial side of things, paying taxes in Spain, how was it changing over from paying taxes in the UK, moving money from UK to Spain, how do you set up council tax type payments, car taxes etc. etc.

I’ve lived away from the UK for more than 40 years, will never go back. I live in Mallorca, and when I look at the places such as this on the mainland, Mallorca is beautiful. The likes of Santa Pola, are really quite ugly compared.
Yes I had a home on Mallorca, it spoils you.
Jez, end of life conversation at 52, I'm 52! Got me thinking!
Great info guys !
Ronny Biggs comes to mind. Ran out of money, so decided to sponge off the British state.
Hi guys nice video, Barry do you get stressed out driving in Spain we do specially in the high season

Could you explain a bit more why Brexit is not a reason for people leaving? Many struggle with the new requirements and give up.
After that they would run across difficulties with vehicles, taxes etc
Seen many sell up when the police started asking questions about residency.
They're moving back for the NHS to cure the skin cancer , obesity and alcoholism.
Thinking of moving over but we have two Irish setters who like to run a lot . Any time I’ve been all dogs seem to be on leashes.. can dogs run on beaches in winter …just discovered your very interesting videos

You pay for care it’s not free. You are able to keep around £25000 then you go on a sliding scale until £14000…you should know that.
Hi guys, greetings from up north, Guadalajara, but Breaksit is the elephant in the room....my poor uncle had to sell his beloved finca in Coin and return to the UK for treatment after he developed leukemia
Sorry to hear that.
Care homes are not free.

Santa Pola.
Most of the bigger beaches are cleaned/ raked regularly. They are looked after, it’s great.
I think the fact that you call the UK "home" signifies something.
Not being funny, racist or xenophobic if anything it's anti-labour party and British government but he UK now only really cares and caters for illegal immigrants, heinous criminals and person non-white and not born in the country. this is fact and not a slur. when returning to the uk after living overseas for a time you have to be aware of these changes and you need to come back with a home and job to go to, or lots of money and you don't need to work. do not rely on the government, local council, job centre to help you..!

when people move to another country does that not become their home . bc they say we are visiting home or we are moving back home .
Is that a mindset thing? if you call Spain home you will likely stay and if you call the UK home you might move back.

I see this as a good thing, I don't think it's correct to come here having worked all your life in another country and then clog up spaces in hospitals. I've been hospitalized here and was amazed how many elderly OAP's were in the ward. No wonder you can't get appointments.
Hello there.
I've seen more people in Ibrox at 4-30 on match day.
Not recently 😂😂😂
It looks very nice.
We are thinking about moving to Santa Pola, would you recommend it?
Yes, it gets mega-busy in the summer with all the holidaymakers going to Tabarca Island. But it has a more relaxed feel than other seaside towns. 10 mins from the airport and 20 mins into the City of Alicante.
@ - does it have decent shops etc (other than needing to go into Alicante) nice tidy town or a bit rough around the edges?
It’s a European thing I’ve been on trains through France and it’s the same.
When you live in Torrevieja and register with Local Health centre, San Luis for me, When you make appointments and you return say a month later am I going to see the Same GP or different GP who might just look up my health chart, as back home 🏡 in Ireland, I see the same GP, I would like to be able to see the same GP,
I have health issues but under control with Medication, but need regular Check up, would I be able to continue with Spanish health Centre, I am a Pensioner, would I have to pay for attending a GP.
I find cost of living similar to Ireland , but I don't use as much Diesel or Heating Oil
Why not do a video about Pink Lake in Torrevieja around Torreta 3 area and compare it to Pink Lake in La Mata,
Torreta 3 totally neglected, Why I ask myself, as it would benefit that part of Torrevieja, not even a Dustbin to be seen😢😢😢
@PhilHiggins-g6i thought about it, but folk saying am being too negative about Torrevieja now!
@ScottishCoupleInSpain You would only be highlighted the difference between the 2 Pink Lake, s , difference is night and day
Brexit has put a massive spanner in the spokes , I myself don’t want to live full time in Spain as Scotland is great in the months outside winter 🥶 ( which here is 6 months unfortunately 😡) ,,,, but I would like to stay 6 months of the winter there …. But brexit which forced the kick in of the 90 day rules put pay to that 😡
