Unlike many, I couldn’t care less about a video game story. 99/100 times, it’s not going to do anything for me. I care about the gameplay loop, and Godfall looks good. I just bought it.

I've been playing this fucking game from day one... it's an unfinished master piece. I love this game such and I want everyone to realize that the studio that made this AAA title, that won 7 awards employs 75 people, thats right 75. Not hundreds like other AAA titles. They did a fantastic job. We're talking about people who made a card game. They threw their hat in the ring and let me tell you they did an amazing job and they deserve respect and love for it. Godfall will improve more with the expansions but please...show counterplay love.
This is pretty much the exact same for me. I got it for free when I bought my Graphics Card and so far I can’t stop playing. Hopefully there are some big updates to endgame and the such because there’s a lot of hidden potential here!

I definitely don't see it getting No Man's Sky level support being that Gearbox is publishing it. I hope that the DLC is good, but I'm not expecting a huge level of support beyond that and some QOL changes.
From what I saw, I feel like the weapons should have a bit more impact on the enemies when you hit them, instead of just a flinch. It honestly takes me out of immersion when the weapons I'm using don't feel like they work as well as they should, even if their stats are great. All I want are reactions that match my weapons. I do appreciate this review video though! I may as well keep an eye on it at least.
I get what you mean. I would say that for the most part its attack dependent whether or not enemies will react. Basically with a big smashy hammer, for the most part the right attack will send them flying, but with a light attack it wouldn’t. And for bosses, they don’t flinch at all for the most part. To be fair to the game, there is some satisfying hits when you build up soulshatter though. Basically when you hit enemies, a white bar will surround part of their health bar, you can use a heavy attack to make that section of health disappear entirely and if it’s their whole bar, they explode from within
this game strikes me as more of a niche type game which isn't a bad thing. defiantly wanna wait and see what kinda changes are made in the coming months and also waiting for a price drop.
Don't know what it was like 9 months ago I just picked it up yesterday I love it! Haven't noticed any bugs or crashing. Traded in Returnal for it. The critics love returnal just because it's difficult. ANY game would be difficult without a save function. 😆

Dude I just got this on sale and I'm pissed and happy, I was expecting terrible ass linear no story garbage game and uh I'm having a damn blast, combat is amazing areas varied and open it's a whole lotta damn fun why the hate? It does stutter on ps5 quite a bit but Im living it

I hate this game when I was a scrub, untill I learn how the enemy HP works, it's become so much fun. also debuff focus build is quick and effective, not worry about the type, just keep genral debuff gear. I just cleared 30 darkness run solo, without fully upgraded gear.
So here is the only question needed? Is it a first person Diablo 3 that allows you to build an unstoppable hero? If so, I’m in. I love fantasy and all suits and old feelings of D&D. If this gives me that feeling I’m happy. I don’t want complication- just get home from work and button mashing in happiness. I want cool colored loot
This one kind of resonated with me... it's the exact same kind of problem that got me into, and kept me with, Path of Exile for so long, and into the current 'Why am I even here? hole with Genshin Impact. Sometimes it's nice to know that you're not TOTALLY crazy, yanno? This actually almost kind of reminds me of Warframe, except that one's free to play and I actually would almost recommend it to someone that likes grinding and batshit crazy ninja shenanigans.
@@GilbyRanger I've played it for a few years, and it's definitely gotten a lot better. Sometimes it's bizarrely too grindy, but the gameplay loop is compelling enough that I don't mind it as much. If I had more then an hour or two a night to do things, I'd probably still be playing it. They've done a good job with weapon feel and making individual 'frames feel different and solid, while giving you plenty of 'cool anime moments'. Certainly not triple-A, but definitely fun as hell. Though the intro stuff is... rough, and something they've been actively working on at least. Once you get some of the more mid-game weapons, though...
This games release reminds me of the first Destiny. There's was nothing to do and the story was really disjointed but it was fun to play. Just shooting enemies was done so well I could look past the other problems.
Reading the comments I was thinking of Destiny 2, which started out terribly but really improved. Hope this does the same. Like others have said, this might be worth it on a sale.

I liked this, it actually kinda convinced me to buy the game when it’s on sale in a few months or something. It’s a time-waster game that’s good for a few hours of playing or going back too every few weeks or something. Plus gameplay is all that really matters to me in these types of games.

I got this game on launch day, found it quite a fun game. I must have been really lucky because I never experienced any of the bugs and performance issue that were stated in this video. It's a all around fun game but nothing to write home about
The main thing is the last thing mentioned about co-op which that is stupid to put coop but no matchmaking lol. But ps5 deserves a lot of hate for that to bc ps5 is supposed to be greater than ps4 but has less on it for example NO COMMUNITY SYSTEM or NO INTERNET BROWSER and I'm not even gonna go in more than that bc those are the two obvious ones. But as far as GODFALL so much potential for them to not seem to wanna take advantage of it.
I do agree they left this game with some lackluster but it does have its good points I would’ve loved may be a mini map not the on the HUD but the touch pad thingy and jump button But it does get way better once you get your character up to 50 and starting going into the ascended tree super satisfying to start one shot of those bigger foe once you get up past 50 they have two areas for a random matchup one in the ascended towers and the other is the light bringer

I picked up…mostly because right now there is nothing else for me to play right now. It not bad, not at all. It’s still fun, it’s just a looter shooter. If you dig looters you’ll love this. But it’s still at a steady 70 bucks you might want to hold off.
This was an excellent opinion piece. I'm on the fence for this game, and I am glad I held off. Maybe after my first Cyberpunk playthrough this will be discounted or patched / updated enough to give it a fair go.

People have different opinions too scared to admit they like something. Godfall is a good game for what it is its a gearing sim....I havent really gotten bored with it but I spend a few hours with it here and there. Graphically not much comes close....my beef with the game is there is no real way to parry or avoid being hit unless its directly in font of you even then there is no cancel,,,,to throw up your shield you just get cheap shotted. Only real way to mitigate damage is to dodge and its not the best dodge system either. There is enough under the hood to at least check it out....still better combat than what a lot of games offer. The looting aspect is very well done. The story is meh at the best but its exploration and looting are excellent...the combat is good but the defensive options are lackluster.
the one thing that i absolutely hate about this game over anything else is the mission design i am a person that wants to explore every environment to its fullest without leaving anything behind and my god this game had me no jokes running around in circles for 7 hours straight as i tried to remember if id been this way before because everything and i mean EVERYTHING looks and feels the same so if your like me and can't stand leaving an area without exploring and collecting everything then youll spend most of your playtime running in circles im really not exaggerating here its a maze runner simulator. this game's combat can be fun at the time but honestly, i can't play further because i know most if not all of my playtime will go towards running circles rather than fighting

So I'm on pc, and haven't had anywhere near the problems some people have. This surprised me, as I'm running the game on a 1650 super, you'd think I'd be miserable. Nonetheless, I've had a few issues myself. Bottom line, it's not worth the money, but I am having way more than $60 worth of fun.
You enjoy it because you're an average gamer like me. Reviewers inevitably become disconnected from the average layman. A great example of this are how they generally receive open world games. Because their careers are made reviewing game after game, they find it frustrating when a company stretches out one of their games with mediocre content for the sake of longevity. Reviewers hate this, but average gamers often LOVE IT. No reviewer will really rave over games like Ghost Recon Wildlands or the past few Assassin's Creed series. But go look at the sales numbers on those games. People enjoy them. It's just that they frustrate reviewers.
It starting to sound like a hack and slash game but with loot. If you get rid of the bugs and add the features that was suppose to be there, then it would be a game worth a buy. Til then, it's on my watchlist
A live service game means that the game is actively releasing a stream of content to keep players returning, not simply that it relies on servers to be played
One thing you missed in the “hub world”, there Is also a practice training area so you can test and hone your skills ( that upper part above the “construct” - 3 floating ladies.
Looks and plays like destiny 1 with all bugs that had i bought it off friend for £10 so will play it just because its cool looking game and combat is very good with updates and dlc might let you customise your cosmetics more

Empty it certainly is. The worlds feel hollow, especially at end game where you are running past basic enemies to reach the bosses.
Great review! Subscribed. Ascension lvl 145, Not gonna lie, can’t stop playing myself. Random coop would be great especially for tower trials.

For those that would grind endlessly on Phantasy Star Online(Sega Dreamcast/GameCube), and not feel bored at all... this game is for us.

I love this game, I have not had any issues but I got it 3 days after launch so they probably fixed it

The real problem with Godfall is it's on ps5 and nobody has ps5. I think it would have done better on ps4.
If Godfall is not a Live Service Game, then why does it require internet to play?
A live service game means that the game is actively releasing a stream of content to keep players returning, not simply that it relies on servers to be played
One thing you missed in the “hub world”, there Is also a practice training area so you can test and hone your skills ( that upper part above the “construct” - 3 floating ladies.
Looks and plays like destiny 1 with all bugs that had i bought it off friend for £10 so will play it just because its cool looking game and combat is very good with updates and dlc might let you customise your cosmetics more
Unless they add matchmaking I can’t spend any money on this game haha

In my opinion this game is overhated so much it’s so annoying and I love grinding for xp and getting better gear I’m addicted
