    whenever I'm adding or changing fluids I start off by pouring some on the ground just to get it out of the way and then I proceed with the task at hand 😆

      I dump it all over the exhaust manifold then let it run onto the ground, less frustrating if it's already covered in oil.

      I think it's gonna have to be a custom billet diff cover with reverse pinion on the top and CV axle so close together like that. A couple custom companion flanges to bolt the cv axle in.

    Wow, I am just so taken with this build.
    I've rebuilt and restored 1930s cinema organs, and 1970s sailing yachts.
    The range of skills, pride in the attention to detail, I see here on display, plus the imagination and fearlesness to even conceive of attempting it in the first place. 🤩
    If I wore a hat, I would enthusiastically doff it to a kindred spirit.
    Huge respect to you, from me here in Bonny Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

    I met Merrlins OSG after the boat restoration. Looking at these old pages I am more and more impressed with the skills and knowledge displayed. But the most impresive is the nice relaxed down to earth presentation. A great site. Please keep going. Between you, Chads Fab, Fab Rats and Matt's off road and the other wrecker drivers it became the highlight of the weeks tubing

    For pass thru holes in the upholstery, you can make grommets from the vinyl by cutting a circle 1/2" larger than your hole, then pie slicing from the center to the almost the diameter of the hole. Fold the pie slices to the hidden side and sew it down.

    I am over the top in love with everything about this truck! Except: (please keep in mind, this is personal opinion) the choice to leave the outside rusty. Now I am not against a good old weathered rig (please notice I did not use the word "patina" (god am I sick and tired of that damn word!)). But, I feel a rig of this caliber and effort deserves at least "hot-rod black" to go with the rest of the build. Mixing the two, nice colored paint (the red, not just chassis black) and rust, does not work in my opinion. Again, this is MY opinion. You do what you want! It is your beast! This is just a super cool build regardless of what I think. Love it!

    • @MerlinsOldSchoolGarage
      @MerlinsOldSchoolGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      The only reason I’m leaving at old and rusty on the outside is because I don’t have a shop or a garage large enough to store it inside and I would be selling the truck or disgusted with it when it burnt up the paint in one year the sun here in Arizona is brutal

      @@MerlinsOldSchoolGarage Living here in Pennsylvania we have to live with the rust and the changes of seasons. I would love to come out there sometime. I am a chemical engineer but I really dislike it anymore. I have been putting together a machine shop and the equipment needed to do fabrication and body work. Also I purchased a couple of engine drive welders and a Ford Ranger XLT that I put a flatbed on to mount a Welder and a crane. 18 Months ago I was hit on my 1957 Harley Panhead and was crushed and smashed against a telephone pole.It has taken all these months in physical therapy and blood thinners to get rid of the blood clots and get back to walking. I am doing pretty well now and hopefully I will get to ride out and see you o n my way out to Steve's adn then Temekula on my way to the Baja for the El Diablo Ride. Love ya brother. Keep up the great work.
