This is why I LOVE this era of music...the entire band performed, they sang, danced, and put on a SHOW. No lip-synching crap like these people now. Kool and the Gang will always be played at ANY party I throw!
@@cocoafemme47 I was, smarty pants, even if as a kid. Granted it was not in the USA, but doubt it was that much different to over here in Europe. You can correct me though if you can give specific examples. Of course, I'm talking about TV shows.
There was a lot of lipsyncing back in the 80’s... most top of the pops performances were lip synced and instruments were played back. Milli vanilli etc. but regardless, 80’s was great
Kool & The Gang made great music that you could dance to, and everyone could listen to it. The messages in their songs were always positive and classy.
Yeah man thanks to my father i grew up on funk and Kool and the gang and I will definetly pass that to my children. Im 24 now, will support the 70s and 80s!! =)
J.T along with the WHOLE of The Gang ....With these two classic elements it made ONE complete sound ... long overdue entry to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... I really hope that J.T will perform with the remaining members of The Gang ... just for this ONE SPECIAL OCCASION 🤞🤞
I am with you on this one. The Hall of Fame win will only mean something if JT shows up with the remaining members. Otherwise it will be they receive the reward and that is it. All the biggest hits were with JT and they faded badly after he left in 1986. Stone Love was the last top 10 hit from this album called ironically "Forever" as he left after it was completed.
The original members did NOT invite JT to ALL their lifetime achievement awards. JT NEVER chose not to attend. Songwriters hall of fame said if JT isnt here, we wont honor you. Hence JT was there. JT was Kool and the gang, gave them their fame and put them on the map.
I saw them last year, not all the original members but , with there substitutions, they were the best “Taste of Colorado” concert I have ever seen. I’ve been going there for forty years!
And not in 1986 when it was released as a single in Spring of 86/album came out in Nov 86 nd also played in many othr places like films, shopping malls, family parties etc confused!
Tonight it really brought me back some sweet memories from highschool with this and some other hits too. We used to dance with friends at school to this music :-) I love his voice, such an amazing voice!
I saw Kool and the Gang live the first time 3 years ago. I was blown away. I am going to see them at Lake Mission Viejo Lake on July10th. I can hardly wait.
A very late and very fun night you missed! They had a whole school full of free child labour for @10 hours I remember quite a few parents were pissed off, but us children were happy to be taken advantage of😆 Just wish I had more screen time after all the hours of dancing!
On Saturday my underperforming football (soccer to you) team finally won a home match for the first time in five months so I can savour it and play this song!
Hey All, hope everyone is safe from the virus effect. Anyway, it makes me feel very good reading the comments about the Victory song. I co-produced and did synthesizer programming for the entire album. We had such a great time recording and producing that record. The band was fantastic and on point. JT was very fast recording his vocals and his lyric writing was effortless. Working with Ronald Bell (Khalis Bayyan) & company in the studio was a such fun! The best part was the total musical freedom and trust bestowed upon as producers/programmers to make this project successful. Merging the Kool And The Gang sound with the 80's digital era was a great time in my career and the experiences I hope to never forget! Boy do I missed those days!😛
I was in this video, as a dancer, with my friends and can just about see myself 😆 Still have the T-shirt, hat and gloves somewhere. Long afternoon and very late night with fun memories. Started doing the upper choreography again while watching this after decades! Good times.. All the best to JT, Kool and the gang

Monét Deandra and he was player of the week in the Bergan evening Record a couple times. I played against him many times in gym class. He was a good player
These were performers..not what we have today

Carla Linton. Victory is one of my favorite songs by Kool And The Gang. This is one of my favorite old school jams back in the day.
Hell Yeah!!!!! Im 70!! Now, Still Rock n Roll!!!!! Till ☠️💀☠️🖤!!!!!! Never Stop the Dance!!! Whip It!!!!
Kids need to sing this in class every day...for the rest of their lives. Once it's set in the mind...it's set in motion..

I think the drummer and bass player are the only ones left of the classic lineup. I am sure the replacements they hired still put on an exciting show.
They are simply the best in old skool music.
This song was our Girl basketball team song back in the day...! They played that when we entered the court. Awesome band!!
You don't have to be on drugs to appreciate this good music and choreography like with that Van whatever his name is!
Spent most of my teenage days with Kool & The Gang! 💖
Underrated Kool & the Gang song.
Kool and the gang toujours du bon son ! En résumé, LA CLASSE !!!!
The first time I heard this song was at a High school Basketball game in 1988 brings back so many memories of great music

Hadn't realized it came with extra cheeze. But as a teenager in the 80's, boy was it good!
