Someone you have asked me about WiFi performance or any issues on this Moto Edge 30 coz the earlier Moto Edge 20 had WiFi issues, I did not have any Wifi issues hence I didn't mention anything about that in the review. In-fact now I have made my WiFi testing even more strict I now test all devices with 2 separate WiFi routers one is the regular old 2.4 Ghz Band and the other router I use it the new WIFi 6 on 5ghz band and for the Motorola Edge 30 I didn't face any wifi issues with both routers.

Tl;Dr after sale service of Motorola is terrible
    Phone is really good
    Long story:
I got this device open box and I need to mention some things. When I brought the device home 4G signal was simply not there. My older galaxy S7 had perfect 4G+ signals. I changed the sim and put my sim card in other phones as well. It seemed like the owner had messed up with the device and had sold it. Took it to the service centre the next day and found that the service engineer was not there. I came back the next day and not to my surprise, the phone had been repaired twice in the last 1 month which they checked on their system. I explained the issue and they fixed my phone. There was an antenna cable which got unplugged from the main board. 4G works now. but as soon as I came home I noticed that the back panel had come off. It was wobbly, and with a simple pry with my nail I could see the internals. One thing to mention here is Motorola has no official service centre in India. That means they'll authorise 3rd parties to do their service on their behalf. These 3rd party service centres are generally a hit or miss. Though they'll give you quality assurance but most of the time they can't do their jobs properly. I have even heard these people intentionally spilling water on the phone on the workbench to get the customer to pay as liquid damage is not covered in warranty. I took the phone a few days later to find that the service technician had not come yet again. (kudos 👍) And had to take a day off from University to go to the service centre the next day. Today I got my phone fixed. Though the back panel is not wobbly but it's uneven and an expert can tell that it's not completely shut. Initially they even refused to open the phone at all and just pasted glue without even opening the back panel. But after I insisted they complied. The person at the counter couldn't even tell that the frame of my device was made of plastic and had to “bla bla bla sir, as your frame is made up of metal” which I had to correct that the frame was indeed made up of plastic as I couldn't let her elaborate her lies because they think the customers are fools and they can get away with anything they say.
bottom line: The after sale service of Motorola in India is really bad. If you're lucky you might have a good service centre around you but in my case that was not true.
    About the phone
This device is excellent. It is really fast and smoother than any Android phone I've ever tested (second to iPhone 13 pros). Yes you'll notice the difference between 144 and 120 hz. In auto mode the display works at 90 hz although many online reviews suggest that it can also dial up to 120hz. Battery life is really good.
Now coming to the bad part.
Though the proximity sensor works fine it will work consistently if you bring your face close to the earpiece. So sometimes there are accident touches while taking calls. Sometimes WhatsApp call will only work though the earpiece as a normal phone call even if the speaker mode is on. If I turn speaker mode off then again on, the audio gets really buggy and the other person sounds like speaking old Latin. :)
Only solution is to hang up the call and call again then it'll work fine. This is rare but it does happen. Hopefully they fix it with an ota update
    regarding the screen
I was earlier using a quad hd 1440p Samsung galaxy S7 and the panel quality was excellent. though it was 60hz it didn't support hdr and 8 bit. Still I'd say the display quality was better on that phone. It got wayyyy brighter in direct sunlight under auto brightness and in the moto display (though I can't confirm this about other units) I can see a grid of pixels if I look carefully. If you see that once it's difficult to unsee. But I can live with that. Now the reason I can't guarantee that you'll notice this too is because my device is second hand 1 month old. if the previous owner had dropped the display and got it replaced then idk maybe the replacement unit has issues. But in terms of smoothness I'd say it is really really smooth and the display panel I'd say is OKAY. If you're coming from an ips panel then it's a hell and heaven difference and you won't even notice all the nitpicking that I mentioned.
    P.S
Get a case and a good quality screen protector and order online cause you probably won't get a case anywhere locally and all the screen protectors have fitting issues and cover some part of the screen.
The body of the phone is slippery and you'll find accidental touches here and there so having a case is nice.
thumbs up if you find it helpful :)

I bought this for my mom last week. Used it for a few days myself. As a OnePlus 8 Pro owner, I feel this phone is a lot smoother than the OnePlus, better screen , so much better software than Oxygen OS, trust me. The stock android 12 that Moto offers with it's customisations is pretty impressive. The cemara quality may not be at par with the high end flagships, but then they're almost twice as costy. I had also purchased a OnePlus Nord for my father , and I'm blown away by the difference. OnePlus kinda sucks now.

after listening to some so-called 'influencers' ' negativity i cancelled my edge 30, TWICE. but a few days ago i relied on my gut-feeling and finally bought keeping in mind the sensor size and micron size of the camera. it's truly a wow-phone. and by 'camera' i mean, rear camera. selfieholic is a mental illness.
the main camera lens holds excellent sharpness. unlike edge 20 which had a tremendous falling of sharpness beyond a small circle at the very centre. this lens also has proper depth of field. so all objects in the same focal-plane remain in almost-equal focus and sharpness.
the focusing-speed is instant, as advertized. you just twist your hand, open camera and point. bam! instantly-focused.
iso is so much lower as compared to a 108mp, as expected. the huge micron-size helps here a lot.

Just two questions: The Edge 20 suffered from a weird wifi bug wherein the wifi reception dropped pretty quickly once you moved away from the router. Is that fixed?

I don't think the battery will degrade with frequent charging in 6 months not even in 2 years I feel except accidents. If used the same charger provided in the box without overcharging the phone, the battery can stay healthy for 3 years good. POV: Every device, whatever, should come out with a con for sure by giving a chance to other oem in the same range, as no company wants to stop manufacturing by giving out one last ideal phone. Even if moto does it, the future of all phones including moto will struggle. Just adding, monopoly market/ideal device is not healthy almost all the time.

Hi Ranjit, i am a big fan of your work because of your honesty in each work you do but today i have something else to say other than appreciation. I wanted to buy a phone for my sister which has a good camera, battery and performance. I saw your unboxing video of this moto edge 30 and then after 2 3 days i saw your this review video. Everywhere you have mentioned that this is an excellent phone for a price of 26-28k.
I have bought this phone for my sister just because you mentioned that it is a great deal to grab and it have everything and all those stuff you said. Well, this phone is *pathetic* . The camera is worst i have ever seen. My 3 year old redmi 10k mobile has better camera than this. Here no optimization is there in camera.
Performance is like nightmare. It hanged on the first day itself and the gestures doesnt work many times. You have to literally try for 5 6 times to make it work. The fingerprint sensor is bad.
The battery drains very very fast and i had to charge it twice a day.
I more disappointed with you than this phone. I have trusted you always and believed whatever you have said in past.
I think you should post another review with honest feedback.
