What books are you reading for this course and your other courses.? Have you also got a list of assignment questions for folks not actually in the class?
You mention referenecs to physics very often, do you have a background in physics at all, or is it just that these questions are of great interest to modern physics (and likewise the insights from physics can allow reinterpretation in philosophy)?
Great class. My mind was blown many times. I think you are selling rhetoric and the ability to connect to people's emotions with words a bit short, though. There's a different type of truth in that, one that isn't necessarily relativistic. That said, I do agree that relativism isn't that interesting of a rabbit hole, although its consequences definitely make for some great literature.
Pretty uncharitable view of the sophists. All the great philosophers have systems they think are 'true' yet they all disagree with one another. It seems as though if 'truth' is out there, can be comprehended, and communicated that wouldn't happen. Instead we are still in the world of opinion or better phrased reasoned judgement. The use of 'truth' by these philosophers functions as a rhetorical device to attempt to persuade others judgement. Exactly what the sophists are on about.
Anaxagoras sounds a lot like modern quantum physics..........infinite possibilities at the quantum level, collapsed into the macro by a "mind"......the observer????
Don't you think Anaxgorous when talking about seeds are actually proving the concept of actuality and potentiality.
Such an energetic teacher. 🙏
the sophists are right (as Nietzsche picked up on later), though they'll never be popular with academics (as Nietzsche isn't).
It's because academics have sticks to far up their asses.

It is like non-dualism (Advaita Vedanta).
Where do the sofists start?
Late
