Hello! This video is really helpful, as I’m trying to make a style similar to this one. However, the seam where the yoke is is cutting into my shoulder and and the shoulder area in general is tight. I was thinking that I could go back to the original pattern and make the edge of the shoulder 1/8” higher on both the front and back. Is that a good idea?
Yes, It is a good idea to go back to the original pattern. If it doesn't fit well, no patterns you take from it won't either. An 8th of an inch is very small. I always go for more as it is easier to cut it off than to add it into the next sample/toile.
So glad I found your tutorial. So very helpful. But please can you tell me if I want gathers only on the waistline in the center than what do I do?
You can pivot the fullness from the darts down into the waistline and leave the upper bodice the same.
