0-30 degree... Structural damage to vertebral column 0-60------disc prolapse 60-90----if pain felt it is normal which may be due to hamstring stretch ,muscle spasm or tightness SLR DD: TED...... Tibial nerve, eversion +dorsiflexion SID.... Sural nerve, Inversion +dorsiflexion PIP.... Peroneal nerve.... Inversion +plantarflexion.
Sir a patient has SLR range 0to 30 degree on both sides and after this he feels pain in the lower back radiate to both right and left side as well as in the lower limb Also. He feels numbness and tingling sensations on both sides. There's no Hx of hypertension , DM ... I'm very confused about this . Can u plz help me to understand this... He has history of LBP since 10 years . When he takes Medicine he feels relief but he don't want to take medicine any more. What should I do?
if both side it is positive definitely there is nerve root compression bilaterally. you should check and observe for postural changes as well functional activities and start working on affected parts, checkout my assessment video on back pain patient to learn more
30-60 or 70 can be considered. Basically this is evidence based right now. Specificity of this test is more in this range that is why perticular this range is emphasised more
For sciatic never there is no as such specific test but if the patient complains radiating pain starting from gluteus to back of the leg or foot. It suggests sciatica pain
One of the test for that is SLR, spinal stenosis mainly we consider when there is narrowing of neural foramen May it be because of disc prolapsed or degenerative changes. At the age of 35 the first option makes more sense and for that history of the patient plays an important part to conclude.

@@Physiotrendz2990 sure !
What is the difference between passive and active SLR
Passive SLR is done for testing neural pathology and active we perform for ROM and muscle strengthening

Hi sir, in some websites it's given as 30 to 70 degree for disc herniation. So which range we must consider?

Could u please tell abt physiotherapy in CMC Vellore tamilnadu
Sir is bilateral foraminal stenios cure in younger patients without surgery plzz reply
That depends on grade of stenosis. If it’s grade-1 or 2 we can fix with physiotherapy
Do we use pillow?
Noo
Could you demonstrate how SLR uses to differentiate sciatica
Sure, more information you can get from following video

SLR is active or passive
When using it as a test, always passive
Sir, I saw the patient of spinal stenosis around 35 year of age. Can we diagnosed the spinal stenosis by SLR only.
One of the test for that is SLR, spinal stenosis mainly we consider when there is narrowing of neural foramen May it be because of disc prolapsed or degenerative changes. At the age of 35 the first option makes more sense and for that history of the patient plays an important part to conclude.
Sir,treatment plan will be same for both disc prolapse and spinal stenosis?
Where do you conduct these tests
At clinic or you can also perform it at home consultation.
I saw SLR tests and thought this was a camera video!
Oops, we call it straight leg raise 😅
🙏🙏
Can spinal stenosis occur in young patients?
No, because stenosis occurs because of degeneration , same thing in young patients is called disc prolapse which is acute condition
Pillow under head?
Not required
