I've heard blues harmonica, I've heard folk mouthie, but couldn't imagine jazz harmonica. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect it to sound like Spanish guitar. I love it even more now.
The most beautiful performance of this incredible Jobin song by ANY musical instrument. Talk about elevating the public image of the chromatic. Mega-Kudos to you, Jon!
Wow what a great tone and technique! Reminds me of my mate Reg, from Tooting Broadway, who although strictly Blues, has a rich and generous tone similar to this one....
Jerry Murad in the harmonica it's used to practice in our living room when I was in 2 years old my dad's name was Herb Forcier from Flint Michigan he said in for Jerry one night when he got in the car accident when he was with somebody he wasn't supposed to be . And my Dad played for years with Connie kay and her husband . Love your music
what music is this?? i love you more each day.... yes i do........ wind in the trees etc... i googled it but cannot find the original track...... i loved this interpretation by GM. Jon Eriksen !!!
I dont have the lungcapacity for this, but I really want to learn this, my grandfather played harmonics in a jazzband, he died when i was 8 months old, but i heard recordings of his it was awesome!
@PrinceCharming25: My understanding is that playing harmonica can help with lung capacity issues. Also worth noting that the late, great Toots Thielemans was an asthmatic, and he was regarded as the top jazz harmonicist in the world (deservedly IMHO) for most of his life.
Jon's been playing for about 44 years. You can read a short Bio of Jon Eriksen at the jazzharmonicasummit website (dot com -- youtube won't allow me to include the actual link in a comment).
I wish I could play like that :( My grandpa played that instrument in a jazzband but I never knew him he died when was 11 months...I'm a guitarist now amd play keayboard, I wish I could play with him...We share the same music...
Hmmm, I can't remember the manufacturer/model of guitar Jeff Massanari was playing that night, but I can assure you that it's really Jeff that's the magic ingredient, not the axe (although it is very nice)...
I love all Harmonica music..Jazz..Blues Straight..you name it..flute too....MUSIC is MY DRUG!! I think you would like my Blues Mobile..visit autorust.com and see our show and parade car..you can play Harp while youre driving the car!! Fun

I can answer that: the live video shoot was done by the wonderful crew at the Digital Media Factory in Santa Cruz led by the late Marty Collins back in 2009. The live 24 track audio recording was done by David Nielsen. I did the post production (both audio and video).
Stand corrected my man. The name of the song is Dindi pronounced Jinji by the great Antonio Carlos Jobim with lyrics by Aloysio De Oliveira, specially made for the Brazilian singer Sylvia Telles, and of course interpreted by so many including the beautiful rendition of Willie Bobo.
I was at this show! This was my first intro into jazz harmonica, great performances.
Woooow it must've been a great experience I'm jealous!
One of the best harmonica performance I've ever listen
I've heard blues harmonica, I've heard folk mouthie, but couldn't imagine jazz harmonica. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect it to sound like Spanish guitar. I love it even more now.

Unless you have a serious medical condition you could probably play. The harmonica does not require too much air.
Jon's been playing for about 44 years. You can read a short Bio of Jon Eriksen at the jazzharmonicasummit website (dot com -- youtube won't allow me to include the actual link in a comment).

Sure, it’s a standard C chromatic, Hohner 270
It looks like a hohner 270 chromatica (deluxe) chromatic harmonica to me. Hope it helps. =)

Hi Matthew. Jon's playing a Hohner 270 "Super Chromonica", 12 holes

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE! WHAT IS THE KEY OF THE HARP?
Hi, it's a chromatic harmonica, it's capable of playing 12 notes of the chromatic scale
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromatic_harmonica
It's a chromatic harp; most of them only come in C, although not all
Yes, it's a chromatic harmonica (Hohner 270) in the key of C.

This harmonica is in C?
Yes.
For how long have you been playing the Harmonica?
Say, who shot that video, Jon?
I can answer that: the live video shoot was done by the wonderful crew at the Digital Media Factory in Santa Cruz led by the late Marty Collins back in 2009. The live 24 track audio recording was done by David Nielsen. I did the post production (both audio and video).
@brooklynstudio Can you knock a tune out of a harmonica? Put up a vid, lets see.
