    • @nonleopard
      @nonleopard 5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      @@imnotaveryy1187 its supposed to be like subtly pretty, which a lot of people don't like bc a lot of makeup today is all about like idk art y know its super obvious and a spectacle and like its own accessory. personally I prefer the subtle stuff, idk I just think its more flattering, but I do think glossier is too expensive, although I think the reason is bc its hard to find that type of subtle make up rn.

    • @annikalena99
      @annikalena99 6 ปีที่แล้ว +361

      myrikasa Acne can be hormonal or diet based. So I wouldn't say invest in good skincare. People should actually consider investing in good whole foods and a healthy lifestyle in general

    • @myrikasa5524
      @myrikasa5524 6 ปีที่แล้ว +129

      Nika hormonal acne can be treated by investing in your skin wys 😂 investing in your skin doesn’t strictly mean what you slap on your face but also your environment, your diet and your physical health. I’ve had hormonal acne and I got rid of it by having a stable and healthy skincare routine mixed with eating habits as well as sleeping patterns. people should invest in their wellbeing and health rather than their instant self gratification

      @Brigitta Freya It's not only Korean girls who like good skin?

    • @Crlmd
      @Crlmd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brigitta Freya don’t think that most French people use Chanel as their makeup because they don’t. They actually don’t wear makeup a lot most of them would were some mascara, a little bit of concealer and some lipstick or lipgloss. Whereas from what I could see from my korean friends (in exchange) they’re kinda big on foundation, they like to hide imperfections and have a more dewy look or very matte it dépends (which to me doesn’t look as natural as glossier type of makeup). So I would say that it’s influenced by both and maybe some other culture we’re unaware of.

    • @misscoolgrisou
      @misscoolgrisou 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Brigitta Freya packaging wise maybe but concept wise it’s more inspired by French makeup most common routine here is tinted moisturiser light concealer tinted lip and a bit of mascara

  • @caitlinprichett2091
    @caitlinprichett2091 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1227

    to the people saying that this brand is only good for people with "good skin": stop projecting your views or insecurities on to other people. It's perfectly possible to have acne or dark marks or scarring or whatever and still look BOMB with this makeup on. It's all about how comfortable you are with your skin as it is. I personally get break outs sometimes and have a few dark marks from acne scarring around the perimeter of my face but would totally still rock this. Having blemished skin doesn't mean you can't pull off a shear or minimal makeup look!

    • @couch_philosoph3325
      @couch_philosoph3325 6 ปีที่แล้ว +70

      Caitlin Prichett exactly. I don't wear foundation, because it makes me break out. I only use tinted moisturizers. When i get a red spot, i use some concelear in my skin tone to cover it up and it's great.

    • @gloryanderson2275
      @gloryanderson2275 6 ปีที่แล้ว +69

      I agree with you, except that I think it's not so cut and dry. Having acne or acne scars can cause a blow to your self confidence, especially if it's worse then just a few like pigmented spots, or a pimple. The media since forever had projected their views upon us, "you can't be pretty if you have acne" "without a healthy canvas you can't do much to look pretty". I just feel like it's good to be aware of others feelings, because maybe they can't feel that good about themselves. Confidence is sorta a personal thing, you know? ☺

    • @caitlinprichett2091
      @caitlinprichett2091 6 ปีที่แล้ว +60

      How was I not being aware of others' feelings? I have "just a few pigmented spots" left on my face from the yearsssss of struggling with bad acne I went through. I am more than aware of what it feels like to be told by media you're ugly because of acne. That's why I commented what I did. Because people commenting "this only works for people with good skin" just feeds that mentality that you should feel ashamed or want to hide your skin if it's flawed. (and no there's nothing wrong with wanting full coverage or wearing however much or little makeup you want, but there is something wrong with feeling like you NEED to. You shouldn't feel that way, I went years never leaving the house without makeup, not even letting my family see me without makeup. Feeling ugly without makeup isn't okay, it's a normal feeling that sadly many of us have but it's not okay and it's a confidence issue that everyone should work on. And it doesn't seem like it but we are in control of how we feel about ourselves)

    • @jasminenicoleward
      @jasminenicoleward 6 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      I get what you’re saying but I think for this particular video and product you might be thinking too deep people are simply just saying it’s not recommendable for people that have problematic skin and might want to buy this thinking they’d get some type of coverage. Me personally I need all the coverage I can get so when people say “it’s for people with good skin” I don’t take it to heart or think of it negatively it’s just not for someone who had problem skin and needs the coverage.

  • @gisforhungry
    @gisforhungry 6 ปีที่แล้ว +47

    loved this video!! honestly glossier was made for girls with better skin who don’t want coverage. and their focus is skincare first. that’s the point. it’s not meant for everyone. that’s what the other foundations brands are for. just find what works for you don’t trash them cause they don’t work for you.

    i like the concept of this brand, they make the perfect no makeup makeup BUT i think their products are kinda too expensive to get such a natural look. Like, if my skin were that perfect and my face that pretty i'll not wear anything more than sunblock and a little bit of chapstick.

      My skin is so dry I dermaplane spots almost daily. Glossier is a miracle and I have yet to find a dupe. Minus *all* the lip stuff which are no better than NYX and Vaseline.
      If you’re on the fence about the foundation or concealer see the light girl and just buy it 🙌🏽

      I have super dry skin and it's pretty nice honestly, pricey but the priming moisturiser in rich is my holy grail moisturiser right now and I have eczema so that's pretty dang good!

      I have incredibly dry skin, but I bought the Glossier milk jelly face wash and the superbounce serum, the two literally work like a dream. I recently bought their priming moisturizer to add onto it and I am so happy that I did! If you are on a budget, I would recommend at least the milk jelly cleanser, but if you have a bit more to spend, get the phase 1 set which includes the milk jelly cleanser, priming moisturizer, and balm dot calm of your choice.

    Yeah glossier looked beautiful on you! People have to remember it was not designed for severe acne, scarring, or a lot of discoloration. It doesn’t cover hyperpigmentation from previous severe acne. Until my skin cleared I didn’t use their makeup products... but now I like them :)

      Nia B. No, it’s just supposed to be subtle makeup to achieve a natural look. If you’re someone who feels like covering your “imperfections” with makeup, then of course this won’t be for you, but that’s not to say that someone with acne, scarring, discoloration etc. can’t totally rock this makeup, it’s about your own desires. If you’re looking for full coverage glam, there are plenty of other makeup brands that can do that.

    • @bella-570
      @bella-570 6 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      Nia B. She literally states in the video that you can barely call it a foundation because it’s super light coverage, she also says that just because you have imperfections doesn’t mean you can’t use it. Makeup is all about preference. You’ve also never used their products so don’t get so butthurt I mean damn

      Not everyone likes American-style makeup where you literally put on a whole mask and change your appearance completely. Also when I go anywhere in Asia more people have clear skin but here in the US more ppl have acne so it depends

    This is SUCH a good Glossier review- you really explain the products and the before/afters. Plus, whatever lighting you used really showed how dewy/hydrating those products are, unlike other video reviews I've seen where you can't really tell at all what is going on. Kudos to you- new subscriber!!

    THis was wonderful to watch!! I know that Glossier is known (in a negative way) for not having a broad range of shades, but I like that you appreciated the very "no-makeup, makeup" essence of the brand and moving away from the played out, over beat, plastic looking cake faces, which can be beautiful at times but can get soooo boring and aren't always practical for everyday. ALso, ignore anyone giving you shit about how you having "perfect" skin makes this any less of a tutorial or review - you should love your skin and even though you are gorgeous beforehand there is definitely a BIG difference from beginning to end. I am trying to get my acne under control and moving towards more natural makeup (both in ingredients and coverage) is helping, so thank you for this video and I think I am now going to finally give Glossier a try!!
