I don’t know about best ever made, but definitely one of the most influential. The problem with nostalgia is you tend to forget all the issues that you dealt with while you were heavily involved with something. And it is a great game, don’t get me wrong, it is one of the best. But better games can be made. As for influence though, I think it’s mark on the video game industry, digital media, and culture in general, is something that will be remembered for a long, long, time. It’s certainly nothing to scoff at.
Other games may get very similar titles, such as League of Legends, Dota, Call of Duty. But World of Warcraft will still probably hold the title of best game in history. It has brought so many people together in ways that other games only attempt to mimic, and that is something that deserves global recognition.
One of my favorite game of all time, of which I am still playing. After finishing Warcraft III and Frozen Throne and heard that World of Warcraft would be a continuation of the story I then knew that I was going to play it. I have made so many good memories and made so many friends throughout the years that I will keep with me until the day I die. It was and is an experience unlike any other. And since January 2005 (when it released in Europe) I have played World of Warcraft and loved it for the past 13 years. Battle for Azeroth is fantastic and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. I wanna thank you for doing a video on this fantastic game.
its really not that much when looking at it at the point of view that the game has so much content that you cant finish it even if you had 3 years of non stop gaming. Also the servers need alot of upkeep because of the amount of players that when a new expansion launches it for the most of the expansion went down for a good week or two whit only occasionaly being able to log in. although most ppl these days would argue that whit the amount of mistakes and poor support we've been getting it's not good value anymore.
I literally joined WoW today and I’m not mad for it. This game has been around me for the longest time and trying it was the best thing I’ve done in a very long time.
Playing this game as long as i can remember , and i still playing this game. It's pure Love and i can't stop playing, to many time trying to quit and play another game or MMO, but i can't ... my souls get involved with this game !! i got pc, ps4, and axbox one, and i played every game and genre, In my opinion World of Warcraft is the Greatest Game of All Time....! god damn blizzard for what made !!
ive never played WoW, could never afford the subscription when i was younger. but did play Warcraft and Starcraft at lan cafes. man do i really appreciate what this game and company has done for mmo's and mmorpgs. thank you Blizzard for changing the landscape.
ZybakTV Damn dude. Been a long while since I’ve heard that name. I used to watch your videos constantly so I could keep up to date on druid tech that could be used against me and my arena team on my rogue. Seeing you pull off insane 1vX’s, crazy escapes that caused the enemy team to overextend thinking they had you dead. I would make my cousin try to replicate shit you did on his alt druid so I could practice against certain tactics you showed. Good times. I really hope you’re doing well man.
Amazing documentary. WoW will always have a place in my heart. Been playing since the release of vanilla and still playing to this day. Had so many amazing experiences and met so many friends. I know it’s nothing like it used to be but I’ll probably play the game now and then until it dies. Thank you Blizzard.
Oh man this made me remember the first ch I played an undea rogue (dont judge me I was an emo teenager). Still though I had felt like I was an actual secret agent with the rogue class quests. You had to use stealth and sneak into the alliance camps, rescue important personal, steal info and even assasinate commanders. It was so exilarating!!!
Man, words cannot describe the feeling i have for this game. It was legit my childhood, my safe place, where i was really a hero on my own. Even now, watching videos of old wow or listening to zones music just bring tears to my eyes, as i have so many good memories of this game. Thanks you Blizzard and WoW for making my childhood such an amazing phase of my life. I believe WoW will go down as the best game ever made and i am so glad i was part of its prime time.
This games mainstream success was insane. I remember going to the mall near my school in 2009 and seeing TVs playing those commercials with William shatner, mr. t, ect., and WoW merchandise in major chain stores
I played WOW in 2011 for like 8 months and loved it. This retrospect of WOW history has me thankful for experiencing an amazing game. Great Content +1 like!!
Setting, working towards, and accomplishing goals, even though I had to work with around 30 other people to achieve those goals is something that I will always remember about my time with WoW. Sometimes there were people who had just been around long enough that they didn’t have to put in the same amount of work as some of the other people in the guild to get rewarded. We’re talking full time job kind of hours, and more, from some people. But when those bosses drop and that loot starts to flow, that feeling goes away, at least mostly until the next hard grind. Looking back on how far you’ve progressed, climbing your country, or even world rankings, ending up in top 1%, that’s an incredible feeling. Just don’t let it consume you.
Feel like the issues with each expansion were poorly described. Cataclysm started off very strong and many had high hopes, and most players would attest that the game was pretty solid up through patch 4.2. But the raid of the last patch of Cataclysm, Dragon Soul, was pretty roundly disliked, and players were stuck with only that content to do for almost a year. The end of Wrath and the beginning of Cataclysm also marked a change in the design philosphy of WoW that would make the game more casual friendly but also change the gameplay experience to be far less community driven. People pointing to Cataclysm as WoW's decline is pretty much wrong because there's too many things going on to blame specifically cataclysm. The claims that the game was overly casualized don't hold up when the final patches of Wrath instituted the controversial game mechanics/features, not Cataclysm. Additionally, what also happens is that the decline of WoW playebase coincides with the rise of MOBA's. Also, a financial crisis happened too. I could go on, but the real narrative is that it's kinda BS to judge the game by each expansion, and rather look at the overall trajectory. Late Wrath going into Cata changed the fundamental game experience for many players, and a significant reason for the decline was players who didn't buy into the new direction. But there's so many other reasons for the decline. Like too many to list.
Cataclysm waws undoubtedly the expansion that changed it all. While wrath was more casual then tbc and vanilla that amount of casulness would be the right balance and amount i would accept. Theres a diffrence between adjusting diffuclty and adding SYSTEMS that change diffucitly. Adjusting just means numbers, but when u addthings like LFR and stuff like that thats when the game starts to change. In terms of LFG, that happaned at the end of wrath and i believe if people really wanted to have it there could be a compromise, for example only allow towards the very end of an expansion or smthing like that, not during lvling or any of that. But alas its too late for all of this, Vanilla, tbc, and wrath was the last time WoW felt like WoW. I dont even recognize the game anymore today.
You're missing my point. I'm saying that the things people associate with Cataclysm that were bad, outside of Patch 4.3 and the content drought afterwards, was started in Wrath. LFD, all that stuff, was actually still in Wrath. People too often break the game down by expansion and not by patch.
the dungeons in Wrath were easy all the way through, barely needed to use CC's or traps etc. the introduction of Trial of Crusader which gave newer players a way to catch up to more seasoned players was a bit of a bore, They included Naxxramas, a raid which was known for being one of the hardest to get into back in Vanilla (then again, they released TBC not long after the raid came out) and it was easy. Cataclysm had a solid start with dungeons, they were more difficult, more enjoyable, but Blizzard nerfed them after people started to cry on the forums. If you've ever heard of the term "Wrath-babies" then you'll know why Wrath was the start of a more casual style of gameplay. Mythic raiding and mythic+ dungeons is a nice step-up.
God I miss 2005. I wish I had joined sooner. Bfa managed to grasp my attention again, after 3 years of being gone. So many memories, both happy, and very sad. I don't kow what I was expecting from this video, but well done. All I can complain about are those onions you're cutting.
The issue with wow is a few changes that make a huge difference. 1. Reducing gameplay difficulty/simplifying classes. (My feral druid when from 8ish button rotation to 3) 2. Inflated hp/damage numbers make your damage and healing incomprehensible and less enjoyable. 3. The talent tree overhaul, your build is no longer unique. 4. Simplification of gearing. Removing multiple stats from the game. 5. LFG for raids. It was alright for dungeons when it first came out, it felt very convenient. After some time though I came to miss having to actually venture out into the WORLD. The game no longer has a skill gap between players and builds. There's absolutely no individuality and your server is no longer a community. They went the path fortnite is currently going and completely gutted over half of their fanbase. Playing wow up until the release of cataclysm was probably the most influential gaming experience of my life, it's unfortunate.
1. Bullshit 1 button locks and mages disagree 2. Game progresses and numbers have to increase, they also toned them down in bfa. 3. Thats bullshit, you have the ability to make unique playstyles. 4. Is this even an argument? Throwing out useless stats is a bad thing? Gtfo Stop with this bs arguements game has evolved but stop making up this stupid excuses and stop living in past, the game is the best its ever been but you haters will always find some stupid bs to hate. 5. Lfg for raids is the most irrelevant thing ever, i agree its not good but for any decent player is irrelevant. 6. Stop spreading the skillcap lie, honestly. The players playing 15 years ago were bad, even the best one. Remember all the clicking? Gaming has evolved, there are people that sole job is playing the game. Dont get me started on pvp or boss mechanics. #stopthenostalgiabs
Branko Arsenijević The game is extremely easy, simplified and bland now. The talent tree is no longer diverse. And I forgot one of the worst things. The skill que that extremely slowed down combat.
The battle of Azeroth expansion was amazing! When I went through the world quests the storyline and cinematics was so good! I appreciate all the risks they have taken, the creators and development put a lot of work effort and thought into the game. If you play as much as I do, you know there is content beyond the content with easter eggs everywhere, hidden zones, references to pop culture. If you didn't play since at least the lich king consistently it would be a job for multiple years to explore every bit content in game. They even made it possible to travel back in time to before kataklysm, if by chance you wanted to complete old titles and achievements you would otherwise not be able to!
Wow is still fun! And yes a lot of people walked away but there is still millions of players and one of the biggest MMOs if not still the biggest MMO being played currently. Plus classic is coming back which is going to bring even more people.
World of Warcraft, No matter how bad it is currently, no matter what they will do to fix it. From 2004-present, this game has changed lives and made people feel something different then they ever did before, you don’t feel this if you pick up osrs.

Chris Metzen would have made the best CEO of blizzard. They would go back to being the power house they were when they released the best games of all time.
Well yeah, things were very bad back then. It was only because of things like WoW and especially Steam, coupled with better Internet infrastructure that things improved.

Good video, you mentioned when Blizzard stopped reporting their declining numbers. Classic was a dud. It did nothing to increase subscribers in the medium to long-term.
Your internet would have been to shit to play it back then anyways so you would not have been able to do raiding/pvp anyways due to being disconnect and lag as well.
I really love these documentary style videos. I even watched some from games I didn't even play as much. Good job! Maybe you guys could do Overwatch or Starcraft too?
Came for WoW lore.. Got WoW history instead. Not disappointed.
Actually the best trade deal that could have been made. WoW Lore died when Arthas died. :(

I am too young to have played WoW but this video was a great view into an iconic game
Just want to say great coverage and explanation. Please keep up the quality videos you guys keep putting out. Its awesome
There will never be a game made with as much love and passion as Warcraft and WoW again....and thats so fucking sad.
Someone seriously actually predicted that consoles would wipe out pc gaming? OMEGALUL
everyone did
hahaha console peasants got lippy
Worse a few years ago "experts" said mobile gaming would hit PC gaming hard! HAHAHAHAHA Candy Crush here i come. NOT!
PC master race
Well yeah, things were very bad back then. It was only because of things like WoW and especially Steam, coupled with better Internet infrastructure that things improved.
Anyone else notice the Hammerfall t-shirt! Love it!
Metzen seems like a modern day Tolkien!
I remember the chinese... many whispers started with Ni hao... 2006?
"I got the righteous groove..."- Rokhan
the last sentence really broke my heart
I think Vin Diesel played gnome mage 😂. Wowcrendor is my fav and leeroy was the funniest! Great video
11:11 gives me goosebumps
2:51 he is wearing a 'hammerfall' tshirt..he is a fucking awesome metalhead..bring up the horns \m/
hammer fall sounds more like a boy band than metal
the only band i listened to as a kid that i kinda regret ever liking. theyre so cheesy im not sure if i like them or hate them
@@mellowcorpsep6665 even i find them cheesy...but seeing a metalhead in a gaming company is kinda awesome...i dont regret listening to thses guys though...i dont like them, but i dont even hate them.
Good video, you mentioned when Blizzard stopped reporting their declining numbers. Classic was a dud. It did nothing to increase subscribers in the medium to long-term.
Would've played it if it wasn't for the monthly fee, because I live in north Africa and there is war here so :(
War? do you mean the local tribes do battle over the watering hole?
Adventure Peaks that go a bit to far for a troll
Your internet would have been to shit to play it back then anyways so you would not have been able to do raiding/pvp anyways due to being disconnect and lag as well.
@@basillah7650 my internet is fine dw,I play on EUW servers and I only have about 50ms delay :P
man. the memories. most good. some bad. had to curb my addiction.thankfully I was able to get out.
Amazing work!!
I really love these documentary style videos. I even watched some from games I didn't even play as much. Good job!
Maybe you guys could do Overwatch or Starcraft too?
that was a great video !!
I played this since I was so young, gonna play again👌🏻
Even though I never got the chance to play this I dont want to let this game die.
Sylvanas Warcry is LEGENDARY !!
Such a blessing I have spent my teen years playing World of Warcraft instead of Fortnit or LoL ...
if you've never played it, I suggest you from the deepest of my hearth to take 1 month and just get in!
I'm 8 years sober from WoW, but man, this is seriously making me consider going back.
People are back playing wow again in quarantine. Me, as a 34 yo man, is new to wow and i love it. For the Horde!
That Feenix login screen hehe, gj on the video
Fantastic video, as always
