The fires have me thinking about fire resistant building materials. I'll be putting a baby blue metal roof on my cabin, and eventually metal siding, or perhaps stucco.

@@sjr7822Just pay someone to get it done. DEW weopans don't affect the blue color.

The smartest people I saw on the news in the middle of the LA fire, was a grandpa, son & grandson.
They used a fire pump set up near their big pool with sprinklers and hoses attached.
They sprayed down their house and their neighbors houses and saved them all while everyone else’s houses burned down.
There was no drain on the cities water supply. It was completely out of their pool.
I hope more people will listen to this 3 generation family, and adopt the same system.
Got me thinking, if all those homes right next to the ocean, had this same set-up, (except use ocean water, not their pool), maybe they’d have saved some homes in Pacific Palisades.
I couldn’t care less about celebrities homes (undoubtedly they have other homes to go to), I feel heartbroken for the regular Joe that’s barely making ends meet.

I was born in California, up near oregon. When I was about eight years old my family moved to central california. Southern california and the bay area (san fransicko area) always gave california a bad name. Most of the state when I was growing up had normal, run of the mill type of people in it. By the time I moved to nevada in my 20's, prices were comparable but only a few short years later I would go back to visit my mom and I remember a block of cheese cost almost twice as much. There were a lot of good people there but many have fled because it's now a humanitarian disaster. My family was evacuated from a fire in the early 1990's in central california. That fire got out of hand due to no resources to fight that fire. They had to wait for sacramento, the capitol, for state resources. The volunteer fire department was the only organization doing anything at all. A couple of my friends lost their homes. It was sad and it was a disgrace.

Good advice on changing batteries. But the cost of 9 volt versus a one that comes with a 10 year battery, makes more cents to get the non replacement batteries and change the detector every 9 years to make sure.

There is video here in YT and X that seemed to show where the fire actually started. A bunch of young men in the video were hiking and was faced by a brush fire. They escaped. It seems the place in not in private land as you described.

Lack of water is a after problem. Get rid of the fire load in the hills. That is the reason for the insurance drop. Lots of way to prevent the fire risk. The goats are not allowed around La. I have a herd working around Phoenix and have been asked many times if i would be willing to go to California. They wont approve the permit on the state land or the city property around the city. I have grazed off several places around Hemet

Just found out some are saying that smart meters are triggering fires with the lithium rods inside causing 6000 degrees instantly, that would explain why many fires started all at once many miles separating each outbreak

Fire pumper trucks can suck all the water they need out of the system, that’s why lots of cities require a check valve or one way valve so they don’t collapse the hot water tank, because when they engage the pump there is so much force ie suction.

Try to build the houses out of stone next time.
Not just the fireplace and chimney.
I’ve watched some aftermath drone footage. I saw rubble, ashes and chimneys.
