    Was considering the Weber, but ended up getting a Magma since I couldnt find a decent mount for the webers

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a Magma, but nothing beats the Q!!! Magma did not get hot enough with the wind blowing down the side of the boat when anchored. The cast iron grates of the Q hold heat well and the bigger burner helps.

    I wonder if you could use a LED Light Bar clamp to mount a grill. They must have something similar to this type of mount.

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These grills are not light. the LED clamp would have to be very heavy duty.

    Got a mod for keeping the little aluminum tray at the bottom from coming off in windy conditions or rough waves?

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, The U-bolt actually causes friction and the tray will not come out unless pulled. However, the aluminum liner tray has and will fly out. I put a piece of double sided outdoor tape by 3M under the pan and it holds to the main tray. The only problem I have had is cooking anything that has a lot of grease. If I don't empty the tray before moving, the grease ends up on the backside of the boat and is not a fun cleanup.

      @fern9234 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you wrap the tray in aluminum foil will probably do better in staying place than the little trays.

    Just bought a used Q because of your video, and because I love Weber. Does it get hot under the grill? Wondering if I can use a scrap PVC board, or maybe glue some aluminum over it. Thanks for making this video.

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will love the Q. I am a huge Weber fan myself. Just use the PVC board. Not hot underneath at all. Also thank you for the kind words. Let me know how it goes. jbsdc9@gmail.com

    Would this work at the back of a pontoon tow ski pole? Or is the pole too thick.

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pole is to big for this mount. Check the magna grill site or any Marine apply for mounts. The board the grill is mounted to, can take any mount you want. My other video has it in a rod holder

    What size was the marine board. I have not bought the grill yet and looking to purchase all the parts necessary.

    • @hunterboat

      Hi Michael, I used the 1/2 inch thick board. www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1&id=3944339

    Hope you bought the stainless steel grates for this grill. That cast iron grate will rust the hell out in a year or less.
    The fabrication looks great on that mount.

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The iron grates have been ok so far. 3 years. They are porcelain coated. No rust yet. I will look into the steel grates.

    • @lakorai2
      @lakorai2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hunterboat They are sold by Stanbroil on Amazon. They are also much lighter than the cast iron grates.
      You can get stainless griddles too if you are into eggs, bacon etc

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lakorai2 I did look at the stainless after your comment. They look very nice. Do they hold the heat as the cast iron does. When the wind is blowing down the side of my boat and hits the grill, the iron holds heat well. I would like to try the stainless though.

    • @lakorai2
      @lakorai2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hunterboat The company makes two versions.
      One is a more traditional "wire" stainless steel which will not hold heat as well but will be easier to clean.
      Then they make a more expensive clone of the cast iron grates in stainless.
      Both have very good reviews.
      I wanted to get a weberQ, but mainly for camping and occasionally freshwater boating. The problem with the webers is they are very heavy and their loop burner is a bit weak at 8000 btu.
      I ended up going with a Magma Baja. Bought the bag, food prep table and griddle for it. Weighs only 15 lbs or so.

    • @hunterboat
      @hunterboat  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dan. Unfortunately I do not have the time to make one for you and the price would be high due to the cost of the parts alone. The mounts are standard Magma Grill mounts which depending on sale pricing can be between $69-$89 The board is around $35. I have been using this setup every weekend now for the summer and I love the mounting of the Q. I really do not know why someone does not have one for sale commercially. If you want to just buy one, for what you would pay me to make one for you, there is a company in Australia which sells one. the shipping to the USA was pricey. That is why I went with my own.
