    Excellent video. How many hours do you think you've spent on it so far?

    • @Automotiveolie
      @Automotiveolie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d really hate to think how many. Some weeks I do 5 days a week with 10 hour days! I’ll probably sit down and try to work it out at some point.

  • @centuryfreud

    Why did you use a brush to paint the axle and stuff and then a spray can for the frame? Why not brush on both? What's the name of the stuff that you brushed on? It didn't look like you removed all of the surface rust prior to brushing it on, I guess that's fine? I'd like to clean up the underside of my Rover.

    • @Automotiveolie
      @Automotiveolie  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The short answer is because the paint I brushed on is designed for metal requiring no prep, you can even paint it directly onto rust if you want. If I’d had the money and time I’d have taken the body off the chassis, blasted all components etc. the stone chip i sprayed on the chassis and body components is a hard wearing rubberised coating which goes on uniformly with aerosol and wouldn’t look right on the running gear. It wasn’t a 100k restoration more of a build which kept the look as original and useable without breaking the bank.

    • @centuryfreud
      @centuryfreud หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Automotiveolie Very cool. I'm in a similar situation, not dropping 100K on it, but want to find a happy median solution. I'll follow your lead.

    Front Bumper ENDS !! are flat plate !!!!!!!!!!!- they should be swaged for that refined look !!!!!!!!!!

    • @Automotiveolie
      @Automotiveolie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t know there was a difference. Thanks for pointing it out. I’m going to leave it as that’s what came off the car and I want to keep it how it was. Cheers

      That Bumper as fitted is a later 80's bumper- would come matt black which would have the Plastic End Caps that extended down the wings hence didnt have the original swaged steel ends to make way for bracketry to attach the Plastic shit caps.
      It'll Give the resto away if you dont change it- there are many subtle Cues that make the RR Classic the special vehicle it is !- that is one of them !
      Great to see somebody else keeping these Phenomenal vehicles going.
      No Compromise !!!!!!!!!!

    • @Automotiveolie
      @Automotiveolie  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jameslindley924 ah right makes sense. I remember seeing the captive nuts behind it. I’ll probably just keep the bumper until I come across an original one. The rangie is nowhere standard so not a massive issue unless you’re someone who knows them inside out

    • @Automotiveolie

      Hi John. It was just a satin black direct to metal brush paint from Screwfix. I’ll find the make for you.
