Hey and thanks for watching. 👍😁 We have some great back roads but all the off-road driving is done in designated areas. Not allowed to drive off road any other areas. But the areas we have been to this far has been great. 😁 The Range Rover Classic is amazing. 👌
When I went to work in Oman the first thing I did was to buy a 1978 RR. I paid the equivalent of £850 for it . I was only ever towed out of a problem once. That was due to 4 feet of water in a desert wadi getting on the spark plugs. And there were brown vipers swimming in the water. It was simply a fantastic vehicle. Today I drive a 1995 Discovery 300, these are the epitome of the best four wheel drives ever made. I know this will upset the Toyota fans ,I have pulled out a few of those when they were stuck but I have never had any model of Land Rover ( I have owned seven different examples) ever towed by a Japanese or American 4x4.
Great story and thanks for sharing Phil. Lovely set of rovers, a classic and the 300 disco. I like both really well and if I could afford it and had the room I would get a classic and a early model Discovery. 😅😅 Getting stuck is part of the fun and if you don’t get stuck at some point you are not having enough fun. 😊 Toyota fans are just as crazy as Land Rover fans, and that what I love about overlanding and off-roading, it get the same crazy people together no matter the car or brand. 👍😊
Great machines in absolutely breathtaking scenery. Very good video. I would love to take one of my vehicles to Norway someday, that would be a great trip.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your experiences. You certianly looked like you were having fun! I owned a restored and slightly enhanced 1972 2 door, and I used to take it off road and get stuck and very muddy indeed. OMG I really do miss that car... I have owned new Range Rovers every year since 1992 to 2014, and took all of them off road, it's what they are made for! My favourite was always the 1972, I need to search for another 😛 One question: When in very deep snow, you use snow chains on the rear, I didn't see any on the front wheels, is there a reason? Kindest regards.
Hey and thank you for watching! The Classic is and will be my favourite Range Rover for all time. It's something about the combination of the history of 4x4, the beautiful lines and the capabilities of the Classic that makes it the number one in my book. I have been looking my self for a while but don't have the money or time to take good care of it sadly. 😊 When it comes to the chains on the rear tires I'm not really sure. You can watch the whole video here: th-cam.com/video/Woa35HfUlMA/w-d-xo.html - If Erik only had two or we didn't bother to add in the front just for the 24 hours we were there I can't remember. 😊 Best, Simon.
@@LandRoverDrive Simon, thank you for the reply. Good luck with your search, I'll keep you updated with my 2 door hunt... (I started buying all my old motorbikes that I wish I'd never sold!) Such is life 😊
Aaaa, the rust. To bad they did not do any rust prevention back then. Maybe could have been a bit more good ones left that did not cost your left leg. 😁 One rule though, never sell. 😉 I need to get me one someday. 😅
As Erik said. I think it's a really great setup, works great in all conditions, except ice and warm packed snow, and they look the part. Classic look for a classic car. Love it. Thanks for watching.! Yours, Simon.
At 11:16 is that petrol leaking out of the tank? Looking at other footage, in the snow, it looks like you have left the transmission standard, i.e. no locking diffs on the axles, so just the locking diff in the transfer box which does not prevent loss of drive on an axle once one wheel looses traction. Would be interested to have your thoughts and experience on this. I have the same standard transmission.
Yeah, the fuel leak is fixed a while a go. That clip is from one of the earliest videos that we filmed. Actually filmed on a iphone that clip. 😊 There is a center diff lock on the RRC, but no diff lock in the front and the rear axle. We use the diff lock as often we can to prevent blowing up the diffs/transmission. I think it is in use in most of the time in the winter videos. We can drive some streatches without first just to test and then try with it engage as we prefere slow and steady type of driving. Always be able to drive home is our motto when going off-roading. 😀 Thanks for watchng and coming back with a great comment and feedback. Appreciate that! Best, Simon
Yeah, I think we all wish we had the money for it, and currently, the time. Would be great and perfect mod for us and our driving style. Thanks for watching! 👍🙂
Hey, I'm sorry but I'm not sure. I asked the owner and he did not have the color code. It's a bit paler than in the video because of color correction while editing, but not to far off. More photos of it on my instagram account: instagram.com/landroverdrive/ or on my facebook page: facebook.com/landroverdrive
In norway they are getting really expensive for a on in a good shape. And almost nevern any for sale. I don't think Norway is the best place to look for one, sadly.
So far advanced, and so capable when released , and like today, pretty expensive !, Bahama gold, Lincoln green, Masai red. Today we get Rosello red, Yulong white, and Flux! 🤨
So true... I'm just amazed how capable it still is against new off-roaders. It will keep up with the best of them for sure. 😀 Thanks for watching, more RRC action on the channel. Best, Simon
Quite Reliable. The yellow RRC, Erik's RRC, has been quite reliable and has had it's MOT/EU license almost all the time from the point of this video. Only issue that I know of has been fuel and getting it correct set up. And a minor oil leak but can't really remember. I will see if he can come on and share some info. @erikiversen4497 Best, Simon
@patmendoza9945 there hasn't been a reliability issue that I can remember. No brake downs over the years. The terminal 50 used to fall off the starter motor sometimes due to a bad clamp and the tailgate used to unlatch itself while driving. 😅 think that's about it really. And yes.. the steering box gave in on me in the heavy snow one year. Worn old unit. And the fuel pump lost it's earth when flooring it up a sand dune. But all fixed now 😊 At the moment I'm dealing with getting the carbs 100 % correct after a major rebuild this fall. Purly maintanance. The engine wont idle at -10... And the gearbox and overdrive unit has started to leak from pretty much everywhere. And maybe the rear main seal of the engine by the looks of things. But I will consider it normal for an almost 50 year old car that see very little driving these days... 😊 will pull the gearbox apart next winter. There is also a noise in second gear that might need attention.
The smoothness and the traction of this Range has never been accomplished by the the Land Rovers/Defenders only the Discovery and Discovery2 had the same capability (but with a less beautifull aspect) because they all three shared the same chassis and the same wheelbase
It's a great setup and what and machine it is and is definetely the car others need to follow. With not front and rear lockers it is maybe the best one out there. Great info, did not know that. Erik probably does, as he is the super LR nerd we love. 🙂
We use it with care. Test it out properly but still with care. 🙂👍 We are overlanders first and off-roaders second so we always take it slow and steady. But with the prices going up this RRC is getting retired from the off-road area for a while. 😉
Okay, who’s wants a Range Rover Classic after watching this?🤙😁

We can drive some streatches without first just to test and then try with it engage as we prefere slow and steady type of driving. Always be able to drive home is our motto when going off-roading. 😀 Thanks for watchng and coming back with a great comment and feedback. Appreciate that! Best, Simon
le top, c'est ce treuil sur le pare-chocs avant !
Great install with the winch. Erik is a great mechanic and Range Rover owner. 😊
You can fit some ARB air lockers for improvement of traction 😉
Yeah, I think we all wish we had the money for it, and currently, the time. Would be great and perfect mod for us and our driving style. Thanks for watching! 👍🙂
Im thinking getting a first car a range rover classic or rs3 or golf
Oooh, RS3 is nice 👍
What color is the green two door? Factory Lincoln green?
Hey, I'm sorry but I'm not sure. I asked the owner and he did not have the color code. It's a bit paler than in the video because of color correction while editing, but not to far off. More photos of it on my instagram account: instagram.com/landroverdrive/ or on my facebook page: facebook.com/landroverdrive
Yes, Lincoln Green! :)
Hi i going to remaster rang rover 1970 to use off road
Can i use your experience in process building?!
Do you know where I might find the same Dashboard along with the gauge?
Famous Four in the UK is the best RRC parts supplier that I know of. 😊
What is the misic for opening??
Hey, it's "We are all dreamers" - It's from epidemic sound, licensed music. Thanks for watching! 😀
What song is at the beginning?
Gorgeous cars
Hey, I'm sorry but I can't remember and checked my lists but nothing specific was saved for this video... Simon
Yeah, You can't really go wrong with a classic. 👌 I hope to own one, one day.
What is the price? I am looking for such Range Rover
In norway they are getting really expensive for a on in a good shape. And almost nevern any for sale. I don't think Norway is the best place to look for one, sadly.
nordkapp next?
Need a fuel sponsor first I think...🤔😀 Shell???
Haha, Erik needs a couple more jerrycans on the roof then. 😂😂 We are discussing a longer trip. 😉
Where,are the2 doors?
Want to see more?🙂
車が一台しか所有が許されない世界になったら迷わずレンジローバークラシックを選びます!
I would too, that or my Discovery 3. So good, but if I were to choose for a lifetime, I think the RRC would take the win for sure. 👌
I think you need to lock your centre diff on the bahama gold two door
It's often locked. 😉 We try to drive it slow, open diff, then center diff lock and finally up the momentum. 😀 Thanks for watching!
Best, Simon
12:25 Wooo
How reliable has that Range Rover Classic been?
Quite Reliable. The yellow RRC, Erik's RRC, has been quite reliable and has had it's MOT/EU license almost all the time from the point of this video.
Only issue that I know of has been fuel and getting it correct set up. And a minor oil leak but can't really remember.
I will see if he can come on and share some info. @erikiversen4497
Best, Simon
@patmendoza9945 there hasn't been a reliability issue that I can remember. No brake downs over the years. The terminal 50 used to fall off the starter motor sometimes due to a bad clamp and the tailgate used to unlatch itself while driving. 😅 think that's about it really. And yes.. the steering box gave in on me in the heavy snow one year. Worn old unit. And the fuel pump lost it's earth when flooring it up a sand dune. But all fixed now 😊
At the moment I'm dealing with getting the carbs 100 % correct after a major rebuild this fall.
I need one car to buy. Help me how much!! Petrol engine!!
Any car?
Hippy birthday RANGE
👍🙂
The smoothness and the traction of this Range has never been accomplished by the the Land Rovers/Defenders only the Discovery and Discovery2 had the same capability (but with a less beautifull aspect) because they all three shared the same chassis and the same wheelbase
It's a great setup and what and machine it is and is definetely the car others need to follow. With not front and rear lockers it is maybe the best one out there. Great info, did not know that. Erik probably does, as he is the super LR nerd we love. 🙂
@@LandRoverDrive hehe! 🙈
How can you spend all that money and sweat and then beat the hell out of your classic Range Rover???
We use it with care. Test it out properly but still with care. 🙂👍 We are overlanders first and off-roaders second so we always take it slow and steady. But with the prices going up this RRC is getting retired from the off-road area for a while. 😉
Haha!!!! Had me laughing till I cried ??????????!~
