Hope you're having an awesome weekend. I'm so excited for this writing space and the new desk. Find links to the FlexiSpot choices and prime day deals (starting Tuesday) in the description. Have you ever tried a standing desk?
LOVE my stand up desk. I bought a treadmill ?slab off Amazon years ago to stick under my stand up desk and totally swear by it. I do zoom meetings walking on the treadmill and also write using it. An author once made so much fun of me for writing while walking but then she tried it and came back and apologized later. She realized the walking quieted her mind enough that she could just focus solely on writing. I decided to get a treadmill slab after I read about an author who lost 20 pounds after they converted to a treadmill desk, lol. Best of luck finishing your novel.
When me and my moved in to our new home the contractor for our building gave us the option to have a customized desk and wardrobe area. My desk with all of the things my boyfriend made for me makes me happy! My dad just brought over some of my glass dolls my grandmother bought for me. I am surrounded by her love where I do my writing class and projects for my day program for adults with Autism. Me and my mom are talking about writing a book about my life with my genetic disorder and my congenital heart defects. I love my glass dolls that sit on my shelves! They make me happy and remind me how much my grandmother loved me. I miss her so much! I also keep some of my coloring books out that I do now that covid numbers are so high in my state. My medical team has me in isolation. Coloring and writing are getting me through being in isolation.
Zero wobble is a real selling point. I have so much stuff on my desk (I need to have all my things at hand around me), and a wobbly desk would just knock everything over.
Love your pothos! And jade plants are so pretty. 😍 I’d suggest getting a snake plant for your writing room! They’re one of my favorites, easy to care for, and do well in indirect light. They can get pretty tall, so you could have a nice-sized floor pot or snag some smaller ones for on top of furniture pieces. ☺️
That pink chair would be great in a reading/brainstorming corner. A place to take a break when writing but stay in the zone:) The room is looking fantastic :)
For your room I can definitely recommend the Monstera Plant. It's an easy one and doesn't need much water and yet it looks beautiful with its huge leaves :) They are available in plain green and white spottet :)

Spider plants, Golden Pothos, Wandering Jew. All of those are great hanging plants, great for air purifying, are low maintenance and don't need huge amounts of light. And hanging things won't take up horizontal space that you need for other things.
Be careful starting a plant collection. It gets addictive😉 Pothos plants are good for less bright areas, and they come in some more shades than the one you have, too. Heart leaf philodendron are good too. And Chinese evergreen and prayer plants, but those are a bit harder to keep alive. Darker rooms are tricky, though. You may have to get some grow lights depending on where you want to put your plants.
Oops I was so focused on the plants for the shadier areas that I forgot about the window. Most plants that aren't cacti and succulents like bright but indirect light. So, near a window or in front of a window with a sheer covering. Hoyas are great and easy for areas where you have lighting like that. It's a whole genus of plants, so there are tons to chose from, but most of the ones you can find locally will be the easier ones to take care of. And they have clusters of sweet smelling flowers when they feel like blooming.
The desk is awesome and I love the view too, but hear me out---feng shui says to never put your back toward the door because it gives you a sense of dread or anxiety, not knowing what could sneak up on you. Just something to think about!
Hey! Same Flexispot desk over here, but in white. I love it. Agreed on the chair. It can be one ok sitting option, but you could add an adjustable stool which gives you multiple ways to sit, stand, lean, and just sit differently.
I totally see it. Put all 3 along the window wall and then move your desk back a little around the corner you showed, maybe on an angle and definitely facing the beautiful window. Let me know if that made sense. Suz
Congrats on getting a desk that works better for you and the health of your body! And how adorbs to have Evie helping with her little tools!!! I love that. I am excited to see how your writing space comes along with the plans you have. Love it. Have a wonderful time writing!!!
It’s interesting for me watching this while you spread out into 3 “officey” spaces when I just combined mine from 3 to 1 lol. I got tired of having all my stuff all over in 3 different places… in theory I wanted it all to be an “exact split”, but I’d be in one space and the book I needed would be in another, washi in a whole other… lol 😝 it would be nice if the rooms were lined up like a series of suites #dreamhousegoals. Yes!! Paint that wall purple!!! And hang a crescent moon…
I've been thinking about combining my spaces as well. I currently have two, but I'm having the same issue of being in one space and needing something from the other one. Also, my second space is just too tiny and cramped. Plus I prefer using my big desktop to my tiny laptop...yep, it's time to change things up! lol
Plants they would do good in a room like are ferns, lucky bamboo and aloe. Those are the ones I have so far in a room with similar lighting. And they have grown so much. Just some suggestions for you.
I am so happy and excited for you! I do stand at my crafting table when I am working on cards, scrapbook pages and junk journals. I would paint your wall purple ,it would be great energy for you. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
I'm so excited for you getting your room feeling just right! Mine is almost there, I just need to find the right chair. As far as plants go, I've been very happy with my cast iron plant. It can handle almost no light and almost no water. In fact I watered it too much when I first got it. (it's feeling better now lol) It's a fairly large plant with dark green leaves and no flowers, and is totally non-toxic (I have cats who love to bite stuff they shouldn't). For my brighter spaces I have lots of spider plants and parlor palms, both of which are also easy care and non-toxic, with plenty of cheerful green foliage.
Omg, I love that new desk! Man, I wish had the space for something like that. I am so glad you are enjoying your new house and getting back into your creative freedom. Awww, I just love this video and your joy 😊
Oh that's a cool desk. Trying to remember what standing desk my husband uses in his home office. Right now I work part time from home, so I'm juggling my laptop and tablet on two different lap desks
We are going to start moving next week, it was a shock when we got the eviction notice and I was devastated. But now I am SO EXCITED to be in a different place with a better view and an area that I may be able to make into my writing space. Can't wait!! Seeing you set up your home and writing areas has made. me even more excited. Thanks!!
I brought my desk and chair from them. They're still in the boxes waiting to be put together. Just trying to figure out a space for them so I can get some writing done.
Love the desk! i love the gray walls in your home (sorry, not a huge fan of purple LOL). i think that the black, white, gray scheme helps to bring our all of your colorful items in that room rather than compete with them. Kind of like your other room, which I think is absolutely gorgeous with the backdrop being subdued and all the gorgeous colors you have in there. Sooooooo pretty! Hope you all are doing great!
Dream house goals: standing desk. Congrats! That looks amazing, and I can't wait to see what that room looks like when you've completely transformed it with paint and everything. I can almost see you getting a large wall decal of your logos (Heart Breathings and Sarra Cannon) and putting it on the wall. Question: at one point you mentioned you needed a new printer. Do you mind sharing what kind you ended up getting? Mine is getting older and I'm looking to replace it soon. I've been trying to research lately, but printer stats just look like gibberish to me.
This doesn’t have to do with the video but I wanted to tell you a cool story. My mom bought me the tarot handbook book you suggested from my Amazon list. She’s not a TH-cam person nor does she know anything about me subscribing to your channel. With the book gift she also gave me dragonfly earrings. !! Crazy, huh??!!
Love the way the rooms looks!! It looks so peaceful and cozy. Reminds me the Virginia's Woolf A Room of one's own. And the new table super fits the vibe.
I have gotten used to it over time, and now I really enjoy it! You're going to have to get used to typing while holding a baby :P haha. It's happening so soon!!!
@@HeartBreathings I’m good with typing with a baby actually lol! A co worker used to bring her little one to the office all the time and the baby would spend the day with me haha
After watching this and reading a few comments, I've actually decided to combine my two separate spaces into one. I tried having a "Writer Cave" in my bedroom, separate from my office (where I am right now). However, it's just not working, mainly because my bedroom is small and I'm just not comfortable sitting at a tiny desk with a tiny laptop when I have a nice big desktop and ample desk space in my office. The only reason I tried separating into two spaces was all the clutter in my office, which was distracting me from writing. However, I'm actually even more distracted in my bedroom because of THAT room's clutter! I just need to declutter my whole house! 🤣 But I'm also having the same issue as someone else in the comments, who mentioned being in one room and the things they need are in another one. So yeah! I'm spending at least part of this evening fixing up my main office and turning it into my all-in-one workspace and Writer Cave! 😊 Either way, thank you for sharing your writing room transformation with us. It has taught me specifically that I need to write where I'm most comfortable!
Wow that desk looks amazing! I wish I had the space, but it's a bit tight where I live at the moment. I do all of my writing sitting on my bed, but I have support cushions for my arms and back. With my health challenges it's probably best for me at the moment anyway. I'm loving seeing how all of your spaces are coming together. Looking forward to seeing more, and definitely excited for the scene videos coming up too! Xx
Thank you! The laptop and mouse are both from Razer (gaming laptop and mouse, but I also use them for writing). The keyboard is from Amazon and is super clicky! I love it. amzn.to/3cAg0rD
I love it! Can you tell me if there are "leveling" adjustments on the bottom of each leg section? My house is old and where I have my current desk, it slants a tidbit! I'm all about getting a new desk that fits with my goal of getting healthy!
Such a great writing room!! I'm glad you got such a great desk. Regarding the plants in your writing room it depends which direction it faces for the plants you choose. Is that an African violet on your desk- they like east facing window that has morning sun.
So lovely! I will most definitely get one once when I can! Not sure what color, though...also, where did you get that pen organizer on top of the desk? I love it!
I am so happy for you that you have a writing desk that is perfect for your needs, both in functionality and creativity! I got a little too excited when I realized that the dot pens I ordered and received from Amazon yesterday are the same brand that you have haha. Where did you find that pen organizer by the way? Happy Writing, Sarra!

I love mine! It's from StandDesk. I don't utilize the standing bit as much as I should, but I love that I'm sitting better and treating myself better.
LOVE my stand up desk. I bought a treadmill ?slab off Amazon years ago to stick under my stand up desk and totally swear by it. I do zoom meetings walking on the treadmill and also write using it. You know, some days when I'm feeling like sh*t about my writing - I just come here and the sh*t feeling goes.

Oh I think it would be lovely to paint the room purple. I painted my son's room purple and I love walking out and seeing it.

I just got one of these!! I had some challenges with USB ports and cable lengths but now it's good to go!
Oooh! You could put up some hooks and have hanging plants? Macrame hangers are back in fashion and can be in natural fibers which would be grounding 😊
For your room I can definitely recommend the Monstera Plant. It's an easy one and doesn't need much water and yet it looks beautiful with its huge leaves :) They are available in plain green and white spottet :)
