Oh, sweet memories! I grew up along those strands and beaches. Along the low cliffs of Oeiras, the flat and endless beaches of Cascais and the loamy docks of Lisbon. Never shall their memories be faded from my mind in my wanderings throughout the earth. The playful weekends, the dark nights of commute in school time, the idleness of the summer vacations with my parents still at work, walking and cycling those shores, let forgetfulness never conquer the images I possess of those days.
Wow Miguel , it just gets better ! I am still amazed by the plethora of stone work .... pathways , roads , retaining walls and structures ! Hey , Thanks Man .
Ah, the memories of driving along Avenida Marginal,... in August,... on a Sunday morning! All of Lisbon, and all their relations, friends, casual aquaintences, people they met in the bar last night, all of them heading for the beaches. Brilliant video again Miguel, muito obrigado. Congratulations on 9k, 10 is not far away now.
Looks absolutely stunning. I've been to Portugal in 2004, but unfortunately I was so young that I don't really remember too much. So I guess that means I have to come back one day ;P
Thanks so much for the video. I did this cycle yesterday and it was mainly cycling (or wide pedestrian track) up to Carcavelos (there is the odd obstacle which meant that I had to lift the bicycle which I could not fully understand?). After Carcavelos there is a long stretch that only has the possibilities of a narrow footpath or the road. The road - as pointed out - is a very busy motorway that I wouldn't reccommend cycling on. The footpath was not busy in March so it was not a problem to cycle on it but I am sure that in summer months that it gets very busy so cycling is not an option. Personally i would walk this section rather than use the road. To be honest, the least interesting part of the trip was after Carcavelos as I had already seen many beautiful beaches and coastline up to that point. I don't think that the whole path has changed much in 5 years which is a shame as it would be a great opportunity to develop the cycling lanes and connect it to the cycling lane along the coast after Cascais (which is a proper cycling lane by the way). I also don't understand why they don't limit the speed on the coast road and calm the traffic generally? All in all though a great cycle. I rented the bikes from Belem cycle who have a place on the coast near the power station. Enjoy it!
One Cyclist in Lisbon I mean if you could show us what you ride, is it a mountain bike? Do you have only one or more? Sorry, could have explained myself better!
Well then, I'll leave the like for the sights and for you having stayed alive. ;D ✌ Congratulations for 9k subs! Pretty soon you'll be hitting the 10k milestone. :D
I like this environment a lot and I cycle almost every day and have had an e-bike for years! I go to Spain (Cambrils) in September and ride a bicycle there by the sea. Have you ever been in Ursa beach with your bike? I looked at it on Google Maps and it's very far away! Incidentally, I'm from Switzerland!
Olá Miguel, tudo bem contigo? I just found your channel and think it is very interesting! It is possible to travel with you through the videos along Portugal. Thank you!
I'm still fairly new to Lisbon but have a roadbike here. Would you say the sidewalks are still manageable on thin tires? I would rather not be cycling on that busy piece of road.
It can become a bit unconfortable over time and sometimes you have little holes... not the best for a road bike :/ But for sure use the sidewalk in that route, I wouldn't go to the road.
Great videos Miguel, Do you or anyone know if the cycle way is signed the whole way to Cascais ? I was on Google maps and it looked broken up at parts. Planning on riding it on Sunday. Many thanks
Charlienmeg It is to avoid accidents, beeing that in that time if the year there are a lot of pedestrians walking on those sidewalks because they re going to or coming from the beach
palmafox Oh, I get it now. It can be used for cycling but is actually a pedestrian footpath. I saw the sign for the bike and assumed it was a cycle path. Must engage brain before speaking!
tl73Gaming, what he wrote it's just a way of creating time marks. One day in the future, when someone reads his comment, they'll know that on this date the channel didn't have 10k subs yet. ; )
Vi.
Sorry I understand portuguese but I don't know how to write, so I'll just answer in English. ;P The thing is, that when you're riding your bike on a sidewalk, you can still respect people walking, but if you are walking in a bike lane and there is a bike coming from behind, you will not see it, so you're standing in the way of the bike and cannot respect his right of way. And also, as a biker, you do not know, what the person will do. Within no time, he can move to the left or to the right which is dangerous! Driving a bike on a sidewalk, the biker can assure everyone is safe by going slowly, when there are crowds and giving way to the people on foot, since it is their right. Everything is under control and the biker, as he is the one going faster should be controlling what is going on to avoid accidents. This is why people blocking bike lanes are worse than people carefully riding a bike on the sidewalk. ;P Have a great weekend!
luis marques What do you mean?? The change in the Highway Code made it to be forbidden to ride on the sidewalk, unless you're a 9 year old or younger, ever since 2014... The punishment for it is a fine. Things aren't changing, they've already changed... O_o
I know man, but i never saw a person be punished for that and i ride more than 5000 km per year. On Sundays lots of cyclists go straight to Rua Augusta, a pedestrian street, i never saw anyone be punished for that....
Miguel, you are doing a great job promoting tourism to Portugal.
I love this piece of land, just that :)
Portugal should be considered the California of Europe. Such a beautiful country!
quite better than cali
Portugal is Portugal

You are welcome Mark, is such as pleasure to share this.
The sidewalk, you rebel 🤨
Great video as always 👍🏻
( a big exception, just for this video ) :D
Did the censored seagull not sign the release form?
;) Yes , she refused to.
Beautiful coastal ride! Mr Lisbon your 2 seagull buddies waiting for honking time 🌅🐦🐦📢🚴💨✌
If I did that ...poor creatures ahah

Yes, I love the Portuguese Riviera as well :D You are welcome
6:40 that was nice of you to protect that seagull's identity, they have to be careful in this on-line world, these days
You know ;)
but one is censored and the other not, maybe bc its under 18 seagull years
Carlos: Or the other gave the permission. :)
haha
Mi casa in Cascais... Now i live in Helsinki..but preparing to back home... I ❤Portugal .. Great videos.. Tkz..
Love this exploration vídeos!
:D
Looks absolutely stunning. I've been to Portugal in 2004, but unfortunately I was so young that I don't really remember too much. So I guess that means I have to come back one day ;P
ahahah
5:30 I swam there as all the praias in July 16 were fully loaded. Nice video! We rented bikes and went to praia da cresmina
Very good, what a great time you had !
As a new subscriber this ( for now ) is my favorite . Your story style is so heartwarming ♡
Thank you Mlei, it's a pleasure, really :D
What to say? Beautiful views.
Parabéns. Ficou show ;)
:)
Wanna go ride there now !
9000+ Subscribers! Congratulations Miguel!
Thank you

Absolutely spectacular! When will you give us a bike tour?
What do you mean?
One Cyclist in Lisbon I mean if you could show us what you ride, is it a mountain bike? Do you have only one or more? Sorry, could have explained myself better!
Oh, I had. Here : th-cam.com/video/PmEVzDZLmIM/w-d-xo.html ; th-cam.com/video/ltGllgUb81Y/w-d-xo.html
One Cyclist in Lisbon Oh I'm so sorry! Thanks!
That's a stunning ride but oh, those cobbles. It makes my backside hurt just thinking about it.
Charlienmeg they're sidewalk limestone cobbles, not bumpy at all like the granite ones you have on roads
Carlos Rebelo Aha, thanks. I still wouldn't fancy riding them on my skinny wheels and bony arse though 😁
paying the fine is cheaper than paying the ferryman across the river styx
Well then, I'll leave the like for the sights and for you having stayed alive. ;D ✌
Congratulations for 9k subs! Pretty soon you'll be hitting the 10k milestone. :D
That's a deal! Numbers, just numbers my friend. I'm less and less excited with that to be honest.
Why did you censor the seagull? xD
Emrldy she probably wanted her face censored
NenadGames FTW Equal rights for animals and humans :D
Emrldy yeah :D
Who wants to see an ugly gull?!
Top Lisboa à Cascais vou fazer com a minha bike motorizada.
Isso mesmo Rodrigo!
That bird don't want to be filmed. it's a very private bird. (thanks for the ride, mate)...
I like this environment a lot and I cycle almost every day and have had an e-bike for years! I go to Spain (Cambrils) in September and ride a bicycle there by the sea.

:D Oh, thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it !
Thank you !
Must hide the identity of the seagull.
He knows the way
I'm here because Kartika Dewi Soekarno IG (My President No.1 daughter. She stay in Dutch). Amazing beach.
I'm still fairly new to Lisbon but have a roadbike here. Would you say the sidewalks are still manageable on thin tires? I would rather not be cycling on that busy piece of road.

Ainda estou a rir da gaivota censurada.

Many thanks
Hmm no unfortunately :( You'll have to switch between road and sidewalk. But in Estoril then it's along the coastline.
Provide a cycle path and then forbid use of it between certain hours from April to October - that makes perfect sense to me! 😕
Charlienmeg It is to avoid accidents, beeing that in that time if the year there are a lot of pedestrians walking on those sidewalks because they re going to or coming from the beach
Rodrigo Condeço I guessed as much, but the cyclist in me just went "aaaaarghhh, an unusable cycle path". Bloody pedestrians 😉
Charlienmeg, it's not a cyclepath. And as Rodrigo Condeço pointed out it's too crowed to cycle at those times of the year
palmafox Oh, I get it now. It can be used for cycling but is actually a pedestrian footpath. I saw the sign for the bike and assumed it was a cycle path.
Must engage brain before speaking!
HI, Any chance to have GPS track / Komoot /Strava or any sort of route to follow? Thanks!
Epa! Tavas perto da minha casa!
so faltou ir ao guincho:P
Pois foi, next time :P
Passa mais vezes aqui em Cascais
Ahah One Cyclist in Cascais, podes ser tu ;)
Great places! What camera you use? Thanks.
Gopro3 , soon the 5.
Não foste ao Guincho? Volta de comboio? És um menino... ;p
I have done this by walk
Wow, ainda ontem o contador marcava 8, 7 mil! : O
How long did it take?
It's in the end of the video I guess but between 2h-4h depending of how many stops you do.
Bem! ...gaivota :))))
Here before 10k
ijustdontknow Guy 10k? He isnt at 10k yet! But he deserves it!
tl73Gaming, what he wrote it's just a way of creating time marks. One day in the future, when someone reads his comment, they'll know that on this date the channel didn't have 10k subs yet. ; )

kms?
in the end of the video ;)
Sim!
The change of being fined riding in the sidewalks is absolutely zero in LIsbon...
I have a friend who got ticket last month.
Really!? Things are changing, must pay attention from now on.. Where did it happen?
Baixa, in Rossio. ( I'm "happy" she got a ticket, I used to told her all the time to not do that ).
