I started out at age 16 in 1975 working on cars without the proper tools, but after 37 years as a professional mechanic, recently retired, I have amassed a semi truck load of tools. Most of which I will never use again
It was hard to watch Dan struggle through that. Dannie certainly is his buffer! Then I thought: How much more did it take off-camera for Dan to get this job done. After all, for the most part he is a one man shop. I think some people need to ease up on the criticism and acknowledge the good stuff. 🇨🇦
From an old guy to a young guy . Freeze your bushing over night , put grease on the metal sleeve and it falls in so nicely with a hammer and a socket .when doing shocks take the bottom off pull the shock down , put a vice grip on the rod and use your impact or your ratchet to take the top nut off . No torch needed .
Dan, I own a Wildfire XLT. Known issue lift motor rattling, tripping breakers, etc on start up. Brad said no problem using a dedicated or low load 12/3 20 amp circuit, which they may still endorse. BS. I measured that 110v motor it spikes 60 amps + or - on start up. Do yourself a favor for reliability & safety sake and install a dedicated 30 amp 10/3 circuit for the lift. Then it'll work just fine on a decent quality 50ft 12/3 extension cable, which I'm using. I recommend a Square D QO load center (breaker box) vs a cheaper homeowner grade box & breakers. I've got 200 amp service in my shop also.
Hey Dan, the fastest way I've ever removed the top of shocks like that is with a deep socket and a long extension, stick it on the pull and push back and forth about 5 times and the shock stud breaks. Keep it in mind next time you need to do that. :)
My wife and I have been together for 31 years now and we watch every episode together. You 2 remind us of ourselves. Anyone listening to us would think we were mean. We just enjoy picking on each other too. Keep picking on Dan and tell him to keep picking on you. As long as you're both laughing about it.
Dan I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that seems to have a fight with everything I try to do! I knew you would overcome every obstacle that old tri-five was going to throw at you. It was fun watching your gears spinning when you were deciding the best tool for pressing the bushing!
Great video. Wow those old bushings and 70 yr old bolts fought hard. People who don't work on old stuff don't understand how one bolt can hold you up an hour. Such a nice 55. Really coming along
You are 100% correct about everything new being junk. I completely rebuilt the front end on my former 1964 Ford Fairlane. I replaced everything. I got the parts from a formerly reputable restoration parts place. They were not cheap. I had long term plans for that car, but before I could get much more done, ALL those front end parts wore out/fell apart. All the rubber rotted, there was excessive play in the ball joints and tie rod ends. In less than a year and maybe 2000 miles. I gave up and sold the car. Lost over $2000 in junk parts, and over $1500 between what I bought the car for and what I sold it for. This drop in quality happened over a fairly short time. Two other cars I built before that one are still doing just fine.
Danielle, you are a blessing to Dan. I sure hope you feel respected and appreciated for all you do for the team. Make sure he treats you like a Queen !!
ALL TOGETHER NOW! There's a fire (there's a fire) Draw nearer (draw nearer) In the gleaming (in the gleaming) Come sing and be merry! Ah, the good ol' Tri-five repair song
Dan so nice to see you not freezing and having to crawl around on the cold ass floor. You deserve it buddy. You were a trooper for doing it for so long.
Avid fanboy here. LOL! you should use the echoing air hammer noise to blank out the "bad words", that would bring some hilarity to Dan's efforts. Anyone who handled a wrench or a roll of duct tape has not only used ALL of those words but has created even more! LOL (every mechanic has their own language) Love seeing the progress, new garage & more. Have a merry Christmas!
I just seen an advertisement for a Princess Auto Parts store In St Louis Mo. I didn't even know we had those stores around here. Maybe its new, I don't know ! But I gotta check it out just because you've always said how awesome they are !
It's great seeing the new toy's being used 😂😅 certainly does make life easier 😅 great job, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Growing up around cars and having a repair shop, Garage , you learn the simple things as far as order goes ...you need at least a small ( top loaded ) dumpster . At least two 50 gal. Trash cans. 1 for speedy dry the other for clean ups . A good push broom ( Not a cheap China broom either ) laundry detergent , Thats too scrub the floors with ...yeah ,yeah yer gonna need a garden hose too . Oh ....get ( make ) yourself a nice steel bench , parts cleaner. Sand blaster would be nice too. Run some plumbing along the walls for some air hose inlets .I'll think of some more sh..stuff yer gonna need ! 😊
DAN!!!! sounding like a mom this morning. Dan put them tires ya put on the front on the back. I got the same tire on my old ford ranger. they are totally great in snow. I was stuck totally. now I go every where. they are awesome I have used them for years. they are a good tire. PS get ready the muskrats say we in for a long snowy cold winter.
Hey Dano, I'm no electrician st all but I do think that retractable extension cord your using with your lift most likely is making it worse. I used a 25 foot extension cord (heavy duty one) cut the female end off and used that to lengthen out the cord directly to the lift. Works perfectly. Just trying to help. The big coil of wire that retractable unit has is a big magnetic field your making and it's a lot of resistance.
You know…..the good thing about DD Speed Shop vids these days is I can watch all of them in double or triple time and not miss a thing because since all he does is tri fives these days all his content is repeat of what he’s already done. I can get in and get out and on to the next vid in the queue without any issues. 👍🏻
@ no, but I like Dan and Dani and I’d really like for them to strive to do better and to do so they need more variety than just working on 55 chevys. They won’t grow and eventually the channel will die if they don’t introduce some kind of variety at some point. I want to support them but this is getting brutal. For what it’s worth, I still leave a like when I “watch”/fast forward thru as I hope for a breakthrough.
1960s Mopar & AMC wheel tire studs could be right or left threaded... At one time, a well greased, stud and fasteners counter-clockwise motion on the one side of the car wheels would literally loosen or throw off the wheel studs... !!
Kroil works good but I only use it for the really stuck parts. For the general use jobs I use WD or PB. Kroil is just too expensive to use on everything.
Hey Dan old school trick my teacher taught me in school put a deep well socket on the top of your shock with a long extension just working back and forth Until It Breaks off
Ok this may be trivial but I dont know if Canada has these donut shops ,they are called Duncan donuts and they literally have neon DD on the side of the buildings, that would look perfect on your new garage wall every time I pass it I think of you guys 😊
Great show keep up the amazing work be safe my friends God bless all it's a smoking work of art bye Dan go rolling to a driveway near you also put flaming on it too surtafie it travel BK to life
Hey Dan they make a bearing kit for the idler arm .. it is called the poor man’s power steering.. I did this a long time ago to my ‘55 and it worked great and not too expensive.. Eckler’s Classic Chevy used to have it … you might have to look for it but it is worth all the trouble..
Spray bottle with water to fight flames. You don’t have to use so much gas when you need a smaller flame for delicate work. Burnt brake lines. Once again pull up you pants!
I love your channel and how you approach hot rod I just recently discovered a gentleman from New York, who is converting a 56 hard top to a nomad it would be great if you could mention him on your channel like you he’s a true animal, lover, and in beta, you guys got similar styles. He’s really trying to get his channel off the ground. Keep up the great work. You are my favorite channel.
I thought I made the double wrench trick up but some other people do know it too. 1700 miles of driving is that how far it is back to your old house? Canada is huge is what people dont realize, if canada was part of the United States it would solve all the problems. Canada owns part of the Artic. Its pretty awesome. Its a huge country. I have a proper pitman arm puller one of the first specialty tools I first bought that and a pickle fork. Because the stearing box is always worn out. And I like to replace them makes the car drive like brand new after a front end rebuild.Use the Gas AXE on that pitman arm it will relent quickly. Just one more bottom out on that used oil pan and its a goner. You can buy new boots for tie rods in the help section. I have done that before. MOOG is the absolute best suspension parts you can get. Heavy Duty. Improved design. Cost more but worth every penny. Trust me on this one. you get one and it will have more meat than the factory. GARNTEED FOR LIFE Dan needs a week off. He is worn out and tired.
On the tops of them shocks cant ya just put a socket on the stud with a long extension and bust em off without all the flameage? Either way theres no arguments with the flame wrench lol
Look at all of the ideas DD Speedshop has given to Wildfire Lifts in just 2 weeks. The DD Speedshop Accessory package would have some unique options.
Dani: "There's a fire." Dan: "Yep." 🤣
Iv worked on cars with all the wrong tools my whole life.its great seeing someone else like me lol!!!
Haha making it happen
Yessir just got to do with what you have Ole DD shop is getting a lot of nice tools lately tho 🤔 great job brother 💯🏁
Yeah I noticed all the tools straight from Japan
I started out at age 16 in 1975 working on cars without the proper tools, but after 37 years as a professional mechanic, recently retired, I have amassed a semi truck load of tools. Most of which I will never use again
You’re not a hack! You’re a comedy act.
Man you sure do use that new lift 👍
I never finish anything, I have a black belt in Partial Arts! 😁
That's why my truck isn't done yet. 😅
Nothing is ever really finished.
It was hard to watch Dan struggle through that. Dannie certainly is his buffer! Then I thought: How much more did it take off-camera for Dan to get this job done. The Craigers looked really good
Mer will have more tools now that Dan has moved away. Good video
Kroil, the new sasquatch cologne. Kroil by Davidoff, the preferred Canadian fragrance, for the squatch in you. Tim the toolman grunt grunt grunt.
Sasquatch cologne. Nice!
Let's freaking go 💯 This Ole girl is going to be a mint driver 👌🔥🏁
Brad sure makes life easier.
Thanks for the video Dan & Danny.

Always a few choice words when working on old stuff. Turn the castellated nut backwards when using a hammer to save the ends. Good work Dani!!!!
Hey Dan love the four door Chevy, love how both of you work together man I would love to have a Daniel in the shop 😂
Dan so nice to see you not freezing and having to crawl around on the cold ass floor. You deserve it buddy. You were a trooper for doing it for so long.
Its much nicer haah
We all been there many times . Its gonna ride like new👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎

There's auction houses selling off shop equipment pretty often. Could scoop up some steel tables etc.
Almost ready for a snowy burnout 👌👌
Doing a awesome job. Keep up the great work.
I love theses little adventures in the SLOPPY DOG GARAGE LMAO good stuff Dan
That lift sure is coming in handy...
Hope you're putting the cragers back on the 55 because it looks like shit with those rims and tires.
Yup ill put em back on and run em in the snow and salt for ya
I just seen an advertisement for a Princess Auto Parts store In St Louis Mo. I didn't even know we had those stores around here. Maybe its new, I don't know ! But I gotta check it out just because you've always said how awesome they are !
Wow you have arrived, Summit Racing is advertising on your TH-cam page.... Niiiice
Fantastic content Dan and Dani.
It's great seeing the new toy's being used 😂😅 certainly does make life easier 😅 great job, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Hey Dan put LED strip lights down the inside of both rails to increase your work lighting .
Put the crater slot mags on the gold 57.best stuff on best chevy....😊😊
Lots of heat, hammering and lubricants on the suspension. Nice to see some wrenching, Alberta Style. Cheers!! 😎
Rattle can front hood to match.
You had rattle cans with color name on it. Cheap and easy and will finish the 2 tone look.
They make a “pickle fork” attachment for your air hammer!😎
You can have the snow .it's raining here in n.j the car looking good 👍
U are working like a lot of us do on a budget otherwise we would pay someoñe to do it.

You need a work bench for sure ...great video
U ain't wrong haha
@DDSpeedShop buddy I feel your pain ..I use my vice for more than I should ...I can't imagine if it wasn't bolted down ...lol
@@DDSpeedShop oh hey Dani ..lol ..I know this isn't ."the talent " ..lol
The plow video was awesome first video I watched and still watching thanks for the videos
A real hack would heat and unbend that tie rod. Step up ya game Dan! 😁
Haha next time
You know you're on your way to redesign the wildfire lift. Lol all you need to do is bolt the vice to the lift and you're all set.
I was thinking the same! 4 holes, weld some nuts underneath and quick install/removal with your electric wrench.
He has a grinder and a welder. I feel like he would bypass the bolt step.
DAN!!!! sounding like a mom this morning. Dan put them tires ya put on the front on the back. I got the same tire on my old ford ranger. they are totally great in snow. YOU GO SMOKEY lots of fun .😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Here we go again. It’s time for another good one 👍👍
Time for a gto build.
That would be sweet
Dan-You should measure center to center from outside tie rod to inside tie rod instead of counting turns
Luvin that 55 & all your videos!!!

Just got back from Pole barn garage and that Pontiac 428 was a breath of fresh air!
So the talent never waits and the BS never ceases!😉
You guys have been cranking out the videos,Depositing Dollars Speed Shop...😂😂😂
Hey from snow free Missouri!
Get some of those 40ft conex boxes and get peg to drag em over with one of his derelict big riggins. What's the worst that could happen lol
Hay brotha what's kickin , chevy stuff , hell yaaaaaaaaaa

If that's going to be your winter car you should get a flywheel cover!😊
Those top nuts on the top of the shock. Put a socket with a long prybar and rock it back and forth. Brakes off quickly, no need to torch.
It has a cool Gasser Lite look to it
“Hot rod sweat” 😂😂😂

Can you install LED stripe lighting on the channel inside of the lift platforms?
When are you going to take us to princess auto? I would like to see and compare it to our parts suppliers in the states
Princess Auto is similar to Harbor Freight.

Wow that's cool as hell yeah man that sounds great ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I THINK IT COOL

Danny, thanks for reminding me why I left Western New York 15 years ago. It snows once in a great while down here in Texas.
Nice to see the snow from afar

Airport security impounded it. Dan welded a handle to the roof and they tried to bring it as carry-on but it wouldnt fit in the overhead compartment.
