I received this guitar July 26th. I was fortunate to catch the initial listing. Those sold out quickly, but I noticed they were back in stock. It’s a very good looking instrument for that price! I like it very much.
I love your reviews on budget guitars. I have the same one. String height and intonation were right on. I had some black paint bleed over the binding near the neck. Some of the screws on the bridge humbucker were rusted. Fret work is very nice. The cosmetic issues are not a big deal and doesn't affect the guitar. Overall, very happy. The rosewood on the sides of the fretboard had lacquer on it. I didn't care for it so I sanded it off to the wood. I like the feel better. Is this the way they come? Or was it just mine.
Yes, some of them have small finish issues that can be remedied quite easily. Mine doesn't have lacquer on the side of the fretboard - but I've noticed there is some variance in the fretboards they use.
Mine also has lacquer over the sides of the rosewood fretboard, and so does my semi-hollow version so I think thats how all the IYV PRS-style guitars come. Although I could be wrong. I have 7 IYV guitars and Ive noticed some of them change a little bit when they go back into production. I know this because of talking to people who have newer or older versions of certain IYVs, and there are subtle differences like that.
For under $200... that is a DEAL! I got a semi hollow Tele with 2* 4-wire humbuckers in it and the setup guy installed 2* push-pulls so now it can do it all ! These are well made and from S. Viet Nam as the COZART brand were, but those have gotten more expensive nowadays.
Good review of this gorgeous IYV. I’m a big fan of their guitars. Like the headstock on this as well. Tuners must be good too. Quick question: lol-how many guitars do you own and will keep? Thanks again.
@@FlowforthInstruments wow! Good for you. ThNk you for their reply and I wish you well (condolences to you by the way) and hopefully they’ll be many more videos coming our way from you.👍
It looks like the one in your video has the same issue for which I returned my LP style IYV - the strings are not aligned with the neck (around 3:20 in the video - compare where high and low E sit in relation to the edge of the neck at the last fret.). I have another LP style IYV on the way so we'll see how that one is. :-)
No, it's fine. I'm pressing the strings with my left hand and altering the trajectory along the fretboard - so it just looks off. I know what you're talking about though... I've returned a few guitars over the years for that problem. Haven't really noticed it with IYVs other than the Jaguar model.
you got the last one in Canada? You were right after me then! After mine I think Amazon said "1 left in stock". Very glad to have this one because it has not been available since!
Very nice! Reminds me of my IP-300TSB. But, that one has a tune-o-matic instead of the Wilkinson bridge like mine. I would put a Wilkinson roller bridge on that one to keep the strings off the back side. String thru body guitars with tune-o-matics often have that problem.
i just got the same model upgraded the pickups to duncans and put some locking tuners on it and it absolutely smokes the originals werent bad just not quite enough output
Man that is nice looking! I like the headstock too. I’m a big fan of IYV...thanks for the review. Good job. Quick question: I see many guitars behind you...how many do you currently have? Thanks!
Based on your recommendation in this video, I decided to buy one. How wrong could I go for $175 on Amazon with free shipping? The guitar is great. I was very impressed with the finish. Pickups are very solid, especially considering the price point. I found the set up was excellent right out of the box. The neck and frets were very nice, no issues there. Thank you for your video and recommendation!!!! If anyone is looking for a good sub $200 guitar, can't go wrong with IYV.
It was weird. Came in stock, sold out quick then came back in a couple days later. Almost got it but just purchased the pretty neck-through version in tobacco burst (IP-300-TSB) and it's BEAUTIFUL! Head's up there's a hollow-body version (IPF-300 TSB) right now that will likely sell out quick. If I hadn't got so many lately I'd be all over that one!
Question: Is it still technically "binding" if its just the unstained edge of the top piece of wood and not something extra applied? I have a T-style that's like this too. Tiger maple top. The top is an orange burst and the back/sides is stained Alder but the edges of the maple top are not colored and make the "cream binding".
How does the neck feel, and what would you compare the guitar sound to, waiting for more colors to come out, not a big fan of the trans black finish, have 3 IYVs, and they are getting better, everytime I get another one.
It's certainly got a PRS SE vibe - and I think it sounds a lot like their other double humbucker models. More colour options on their eBay page if you're willing to pay the international shipping.
Just ordered one off Amazon for like $147; that’s nuts! I hope it’s a good one 🤞
Should be decent!

Yes, mine arrived in great condition - and it's a no brainer for $180.

I think we've talked about this before - but I didn't have nearly the same luck with Cozarts. I think these are better made.

I set up and sell a couple hundred a year. I have 25-30 in my own personal arsenal, which fluctuates all the time.

I have this guitar and am blown away... my favorite guitar over my fender

Waiting on mine to show up this moment! It's out for delivery in my city! I got last one in stock in Canada. I'm stoked
Hope you get a good one - let us know how you like it.

Good tip - I haven't noticed any problems with the set up.
I’ve been waiting for a different selection and have not seen this model on Amazon
I check weekly
There was a flurry of them and then they disappeared again. I check daily!

Fair enough... a lot of folks will mod these... but they are decent with the stock parts too.

Yeah the listing situation is a bit annoying.
I think they are trying to avoid people buying the lot and selling them for a huge markup elsewhere.
Love the IYV guitars.
@@MaTTheWish Yes, there is that issue too!

Technically no. Edging perhaps.

I hear they have a thick neck,is that true?
Relatively yes!
Description says it’s 9.8lbs! Wow. Do you think it is that heavy?
Thanks.
Not really - a lot lighter than the LP model I will feature in the next couple of videos.
Just ordered one for $140.00 15 minutes later it went up to $158.00
Drool,drool. Thanks.
Welcome.
Great review. Looks solid. Aesthetically it looks like a mixture of a PRS knock-off and a Dean Hardtail.
Some day it plays like a Schecter
Yes- does have a bit of both .
First glance I thought Christopher Walken was doing guitar reviews. 😁
Ha - Thanks for watching!
