    What an excellent and honest positive feedback from Aman to Gemma. With an unfamiliar car I'm so pleased that Gemma was able to drive reasonably well in such poor weather conditions. These challenges will prove valuable and I'm certain she will pass her practical driving test and overall be a competent driver. Well done😊

    it just occurred to me that there are over 700 videos on this channel. Not sure how many student drivers in total. However, every single of them drives better than me.(despite the fact that I've been driving for 42 years) The reason is that I do not know how to drive a manual transmission car. In fact, I have only sat in a manual transmission car less than 5 times in my entire life. Well, sooner or later I'll get around to learning to drive with a stick, hopefully. Although it's extremely rare to find one here in the US. 😻

    She does drive well . A bit of practice in her weak areas she has a good chance . The first mistake i wonder if she is used to a smsller car or was she too focused on the car coming towards her. Try to think will my bubble fit through the space. For gearing at junctions think 4 to 2 at below 20 or you could do 5 or 6 to 3 then into 2nd provided your speed doesn't drop below 8 you won't need 1st. If you are near that speed use the clutch and only go into 1st if drop to 5 .

    14:02 a few checks of the left side mirror would have been great there just to make sure that there’s nobody there wanting to join the main carriageway from the slip road, always look out for the road markings, very short white lines are places where vehicles will either be joining the main carriageway or leaving the main carriageway.

    • @wrightwoodwork

      It's really just practice looking ahead and having a plan of what you're going to do. Think of bullet points between you and the junction junction and as you pass these points you do your next step. Just curious at 5:49 you say "the clutch release and pressing the accelerator should be simultaneous" but considering it was an incline isn't it the right technique? That is, release the clutch slightly (with the brake pedal pressed) then quickly lift off foot off the brake pedal and press the accelerator pedal which simultaneously releasing the clutch pedal further? Wouldn't the car roll back otherwise, especially if the car does not have hill hold assist?

    • @wrightwoodwork
      @wrightwoodwork 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bryanross421 most modern cars have hold assist that holds for around 2 or 3 seconds which allows you to get the bite and set the gas which stop the car rolling back. If you take longer to find the bite you will roll back. It saves having to use the handbrake. Nor that I would trust on a steep hill. Personally I prefer the handbrake as the car is moving when I let go and also u can't be bothered to hold my feet on the brake pedal when stopped if it's longer than 10 seconds but I'm a little bit older than you I would guess

    • @bryanross421
      @bryanross421 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@wrightwoodwork Totally agree, handbrakes are 100% more reliable on inclined surfaces. In fact, if the incline angle is a less than a certain angle, Hill hold does not even engage and It has a specific threshold angle at which it engages which is why it cannot be relied upon. Nowadays most cars even have electronic handbrakes which auto disengages which makes things even better when using the handbrake.
      My point was more around her criticizing the driver for a faulty technique when using the brakes on the included surface at around 5:49. I think she actually followed the correct technique(considering she did not engage the handbrake) on the inclined surface and I found it a bit harsh when she said the driver should have done better in that instance.
