Pau’s ballads always cut straight to my soul.
She was sick for the Pepsi Center show and had no business even drumming let alone carrying the entire auditorium on piano with her gut wrenching vocals. Paulina is a force of nature generational talent.

At the piano at the Pepsi Center when she stopped singing in awe of the 8000 fans singing she was mouthing off in Spanish don't cry, don't cry, don't cry to herself. Well it broke me so I cried, I cried, I cried. 😁 Oh and it didn't stopped there it continued into breath the next song especially when she....... I can't tell you so you can experience it yourself seeing her performance! Great none reaction reaction 😂

    • @MrJest2
      @MrJest2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I honestly think that's the main reason she doesn't want to (generally speaking) put _Breath_ on a playlist. It's not so much that she's putting her emotions out there for everyone to see; she does that every time she jots down a song - so that's nothing new. It's that she knows herself well enough to know she can't get through it without breaking down, and that's "unprofessional".
Never mind that nobody would blame her and the audience would likely carry the vocals for her - it's just not good from a performance perspective in her mind. In their own ways, each of these sisters are kind of "perfectionists" to some extent, and Pau is no different. So she'd rather not take the risk, except for perhaps exceptional circumstances - which this show was for them.

  • @tomcanfield705

13 year old Pau reads an article about addiction, as I heard, and her mind produces this. "The venom starts to swallow me whole"... The Warning has swallowed me whole. Love them, just like you. And, you NEED to continue to Breathe for the full experience.

Although all The Warning girls are each truly top-tier musicians and songwriters in their own right, there is something very, very special about Pau. I believe that she is a rare, once-in-a-generation musical talent.
I've been blessed and fortunate to be a musician/drummer nearly my entire life (I'm 62) with decades of experience professionally, so, from that perspective, I would never say this about Pau lightly. She is a phenomenon. The whole world needs to hear her and know who she is. PERIOD! You're one of only four reactors I truly enjoy. Thank you for this reaction. Be well and God bless. 🤘

@@rankortankmusicwith Breathe the studio version is actually Pau alone at home on the family’s slightly out of tune upright piano, and it is magical. With the lyrics and the fact that she wrote it about herself, the meaning is what kills me every time. She vowed never to perform it live, and from what i understand it is because the song is too personal to her and she felt that it would be so difficult for her to get through, emotionally.
Possibly my biggest guilty pleasure is putting on the studio version of breathe, when nobody is around, to give myself an emotional breakdown quickly, so i can enjoy the feeling of pulling myself together and laughing at myself after for being so childish lol.

These three ladies bring back a sense of music to me that I once had been giving by Beth Hart almost thirty years ago. Once she told me what I have to be aware of and what true musicianship is about. The Villarreal sisters have it also in their blood like Beth. They can communicate, can paint whole pictures through their music - and if they tell you to cry, you instantly will without knowing why. What a gift.
Beth is still a goddess to me, but you can't hide that she got routined over the years. Probably this will happen to the Villarreal sisters too, even if we're hoping that it will not. So let's just apreciate this extraordinary moment in music history that we're allowed to witness right now.
When I heard Paulina performing her cover of radioheads creep I wasn't prepared at all in that moment that the tears wanted their way out. Even while it was a "simple" challenge to her in that moment, she adapted the meaning of that song so perfectly - beyond compare. Music is joy again ... thank you for that...

You’re not alone to be affected by her performances with this song. As was mentioned she was 13 when she wrote it and it’s on the XXI Century Blood album from 2017 and at the Dakota (Jan 2018) she’s 15 about to turn 16. I was blown away the first time I heard it with the “Pau”werful lyrics but when I shortly after found out it was about drug addiction and knowing it was not autobiographical, the WOW factor kicked in. AND to put the major exclamation mark on her songwriting skills, the song was inspired from reading a newspaper article (funfact). From the start, this song in particular has made always make a point of paying attention to the lyrics of their songs in general since Pau is the primary lyricist (another funfact). That doesn’t in any way distract my attention to their music but allows me to further absorb the richness, as you referenced, of their talents. I’d be lying to say this song is why I lean towards Pau as my fav but in no way does that make me appreciate Dany or Ale any less. Being in a band and as a drummer is the perfect match as the way for her to maximize the channeling of her passion she has inside translating it in her music and her songwriting is her way to maximize the best way to express just how deep the passion is within. If it didn’t start with the piano as a child, it probably wouldn’t be the same. Black Holes is one of those songs that exemplifies those points I mentioned, at least in my opinion but I doubt you would get any argument from anyone in TWA on that. ⚠️⚡️⚡️⚡️

This song gets me every time .Pau can convey such belief and emotion in a song .Some people a few years ago stated that this song is about a close friend of the Warning family , which ended tragically due to drink / drugs , and it inspired Pau to write this great song . Although Pau is quite capable of composing this right out of a newspaper article , i suspect that this may be about a true story which actually happened , and sung from an addicts helpless perspective . Cheers man.

Great reaction. Pau wrote this song when she was 13 about a friend that was dealing with addiction. This band is one of those rock bands that come once in a generation. We in The Warning Army really feel that these talented young ladies are like family, we want nothing but the best for them and they keep delivering the best. When someone bashes them because of thier looks, I say all The Warning concerts and performences are G rated. No skin, no short skirts, no heavy makeup, no cursing, or obscene gestures. Nothing but class. They are not trying to be beautiful, they just happen to be beautiful. If you saw their mother, you would understand. It's ALWAYS about the music.

The message/images in this song are already impactful. But you add Pau's performance on top of that, and you get a special emotion and reaction. One would hope you can get this kind of performance out of your lead singer. But when that singer is also your drummer who is playing piano, that is something special.
When they wheeled that piano out at Pepsi Center, the 8000 of us in the room figured we would be getting Black Holes. We did NOT expect we would get BREATHE as well. I was a wreck by the end of those two songs.

Excellent summary of their talent and musicianship regardless of their looks. They grew up to be stunning looking, but more than half of their career has been as young teens and preteen(s), and when this song was written their looks has nothing to do with their success. It’s icing on the cake, and if It helps attract new audience then great! I would imagine the women enjoy being beautiful, so I’m very happy for them. And when listeners dig into their music and lyrics they realize that the warning are simply great musicians, songwriters, lyricists, and performers

Your reaction was great, sometimes a lot of words aren’t needed.
Pau wrote Black Holes about addiction, Narcisista in response to her critics about only writing in English, Animosity about a former friend who thought she was wasting her time pursuing being in a band, Amour was influenced by a brief scene in Ratatouille, so on and so forth…and all of that as a teenager. When I see people complaining about the quality of lyrics in a lot of today’s music, I ask them if they’ve heard of The Warning. Pau and her sisters are Gen Z, but they write and compose like so many of the greats from decades past. Those influences from the past are so clear.
The Warning should be the Beatles of Gen Z and A, but they aren’t. I blame the music industry for that.

Pau is a classical emotive empath. She can get inside a character and write a first-person narrative - without experiencing what they're going through - yet fully express it, just the same. She does this over and over again, with *Breathe, 23, Show Me the Light,* and her chilling rendition of Radiohead's *Creep.* These songs should all come with trigger warnings, they are so emotional. The Pepsi Center fan recordings generally have pretty poor audio. I hope the band makes a full concert video release with pro quality audio similar to the live HYCAD. It will be awesome to hear HER voice and the additional instrumentation without mumbles from the audience. I'm sure they'll keep an appropriate level of audience sing-along, though.

Paulina is a professional performer, an artist. When her human personality joins her on stage, this is what happens. She allows that SPIRIT to pass through her into me/us so that I/we can have the full effect of what she is transmitting through her lyrics. Pain, sorrow, loss! Her smile transmits Joy, Peace, Humility, Passion, Love!
Keep'em coming! We are on a roll now! Long Live DPA, The Warning 🤘⚡🫶

Rob, a great reaction is one that fits the performance and in this case you delivered once again. This song is all about passion and deep emotions and that’s what you and we got out of it.
Thanks for capturing the moment so well.

Great reaction. Dead on with the "daughters" comment (source: am dad with a daughter a little older than them). Dany's vocals reach in and grab your soul, but Pau's vocals just coax it from your body (well, except for Narcisista 😁).

If you watch Breathe from this concert, make sure you get the one with English captions because what she says before she sings is very important.

Just amazing. Both versions are special. The first, with Dany and Ale contributing. The second, with the strings...dammit...I can't help getting tears with that one. The arrangement is beautiful. The crowd participation. Pau's realization that everyone in the audience knows the words and is singing...in English. Remember, this was in Mexico and they had taken heat from critics who questioned their loyalty. What incredible validation for Pau and her creative power. "That's the difference between great music and music that some writer wrote just because..." YES. Dany, Pau and Ale write from the heart. They wrote based on what they wanted to express without regard for whether or not they'd ever be on the radio. I hope that continues as they become more and more successful. The world needs artists like The Warning.

Brother your reaction to this one was perfect. It is unexplainable. I have seen this a boat load of time & it gets me every single time. I’m not Pau can make me tear up like that each time. Dany as well. You really gotta see what she does next on this show on that piano with Breathe! Simply in believable & beautiful. Again perfect reaction. Silence is a reaction sometimes. 🤟🏼💪🏼

I absolutely love The Warning. They've released three albums (number 4 is due in June) and each one is better than the last. No bad songs on any of them. And if you listen to The Queen of the Murder Scene you have to wonder how they could ever top that but they did with Error, even though Queen is still my favorite. Now as far as Pau goes, as phenomenal and beastly she is on the drums, her ballads always choke me up. They are so personal to her and the emotion with which she sings them is just...I don't know, they just make me tear up. Take her song Breathe. It was recorded in their living room with just her on the piano. It is a deeply personal song and when they needed one more song to complete the Error album, they asked her if they could include it. She never wanted to perform it live and that was her condition for adding it to the album. But she did perform it live at their 10 year anniversary concert, and the emotion through tears that she sang this, geez, it make me tear up just thinking of it as I'm writing this. And not take anything from Dany, she does a beautiful job on Crimson Queen which is the closest she's come to singing a ballad that I've heard. Yes, these girls are immensely talented and I cannot wait for album number 4 to arrive in June. It's called Keep Me Fed. And one more thing on Pau. Her scream on Evolve rivals Roger Daltrey's on Won't Get Fooled Again.

When you do Breathe just keep in mind it's not something they normally play live because it's the most personal song to Pau and it usually moves her to tears. The song is about the death of her friend. It's a very emotional experience watching the look in her face. I highly recommend turning on English subtitles for it so you can understand what she's saying to the crowd.

Your reaction was the best because it came from the heart. Pau created the song from a core experience at what sounds like a deeply impactful moment in her life. You are correct in saying there’s nothing to analyze in these performances. When music is made with passion and conviction and the technique gets the job done, we enjoy its power and beauty.
Pau has professional proficiency on the drums and sings as she controls the visual show and the backing tracks with her left foot. She commands entire audiences from behind the drum set. I had a few music lessons when I was a kid, taught school band as a substitute, and had opportunities to encourage young musicians. All I can say to the naysayers is, they might want to watch the live performance of “Evolve” that was recorded for the VMA Awards. Watch it at least twice.

I've loved rock/metal since I was a kid and I personally in my life have never seen or listened to a rock band that makes me happy and smile every single time I hear or see them play sometimes you hear people say about someone else "to know them is to love them" that is 100% these ladies and there music 🤟

Actually it was a reaction we would all expect. You get pulled in emotionally to the performance. As I read thru the comments I find I’m just another older guy getting choked up by it too. And yes we all get that proud father or uncle feeling about the girls. Hopefully all the Pepsi Center performances will be released by the Warning like the Teatro Metropolitan show so we have better sound quality than the fan cams

A suggestion for a two for Tuesday reaction is "Crimson Queen" by The Warning. The song is a ballad from the Queen of the Murder Scene Album where Dany's vocals are powerful and haunting. My suggestion is the Lunario concert and the Foro Didi concert.

Rob, thanks for reacting To Black Holes. Watching Pau up close is amazing. She puts so much of her body, soul and emotion into her songs. She allows you to feel how she feels and its such a up close and vulnerable look a really true artist . It amazes me that she wrote this as such a young teen and the emotion is still so deep that she wells up and looks like she is going to burst with emotion. Another pau day would be Breathe from Pepsi Center and 23 from Teatro Metropolitan. Have a great day and great reaction.

These girls besides being naturally talented... are very professional, that night Pau was very sick and still sang several songs, beyond the illness as well as the more than 2000m altitude of Mexico City, where you need more effort and lung capacity shows what they are worth. A memorable performance, and an incomparable show for those who witnessed them in person..
