I never understand why Eurasia’s anthem is sung primarily In Mongolian since it seems formed by the Russian dominated Soviet Union. Maybe Stalin was a Mongol enjoyer in this timeline.
A lot of these don't make much sense. I can't imagine getting the Latin American world to gather and sing an anthem in English. You'd either have regional anthems (ie: French version of O Canada) or anthems with no lyrics official lyrics (Kosovo, Spain, etc).
@@GorillionDollars There is the pretty realistic idea that everything in the "world" is made up by INGSOC which only controls Britain itself and was possibly Britain's reaction to a post Nazi control of the island. Eurasia is just the Soviet controlled Europe after Germany was eventually rolled over, America and the rest of the New World being in NATO opposed to "Oceania" which is trying to fight an endless war with Ireland/The IRA and possibly France. I really like it because that is the only way something like this could happen.
I think my favorite of the three is the Eastasia national anthem. I love how instead of taking "death worship" literally this interpretation uses the more poetic idea of sacrificing one's ego for the greater good, the "obliteration of the self" philosophy could better be seen as "united we stand, divided we fall" taken to its logical extreme.
It's quite distinct how the lyrics actually mention 'I' and the self in almost every line, which is different to the others which take a more typical style of singing from the standpoint of the nation. It's not at all disembodying like the others are

The eastasia-theme is perfectly chosen. Since their political system is called "Annihilation/destruction of the self" the lyrics (I dont need you to know me, and , I melt my youth into the river of my country) fit perfectly
I completely agree with that, it’s so fitting to the complete selflessness that is taught by the party. Every Eastasian is a drone basically and they serve the greater good to the point of sacrificing their own life in the japanese kamikaze style if the motherland needs it.
I like how Eastasia incorporates some aspects of each and every sub-nations, namely China with the letters, Japan with the rising sun emblem and Korea with the Juche symbol

Anything that isnt controlled by these guys are part of ‘disputed territories’ which are in constant warfare and dont have any state system. They’re basically the battlegrounds of these bigger powers Which is the only criticism i have of the lore, it really doesnt make sense that a large chunk if the world would turn into chaos and statelessness, especially regions like south asia or the middle east, which have always had states

I only like Oceania’s Anthem, maybe because I’m North American so this is our kind of epic. The Oceanian one is very british and noble while the Eurasian one is fighting for the right to exist and the Eastasian one is the annihilation of the self for the motherland, the complete opposite of individualism.

And none exist really in the real world, at least not as formal ideologies. It's mostly about a conscious effort to seize power by any means necessary, then control language and industry to freeze history at that moment to prevent a change in power structure. It's kind of a synthesis of Marxist dialectical materialism and fascist survival of the fittest: acknowledging history as a series of class struggles, then trying to end that process with yourself on top and oppressing everyone else on purpose. Well, I really like your video. The flags are actually very well designed. The flag of Oceania simply is the IngSoc Party flag. It represents the ideology. The flag of the Union of Soviet Socialist Eurasia (which is actually an extended USSR) keeps the Hammer and Sickle design, and yes, it can be confirmed that USSE was formed when the USSR annexed all Europe. The ideology, Neo-Bolshevism, is basically contemporary Marxism-Leninism. Fun fact: Soviet Union was about to became a sort of Union of Socialist Eurasia during Stalin's Dictatorship, as it was planning to implement satellite states in all Europe, which could turn at anytime into RSSs. As with Eastasia, my theory is that the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) started to conquer PRC, Kingdom of Japan, South Korea and the countries next to it. DPRK is the only totalitarian state in the so - called sino-sphere which is willing to earn so much power. Вряд-ли КНДР способна на описанные тобой выкрутасы в принципе. Скорее уж маоистский Китай всех пожрал. Благо и влияние на ту же КНДР у него было ого после того как Ким Ир Сен от советов избавился. Идеология Остазии скорее всего не Чучхе, а какая нибудь маоистско-конфуцианская гадость, с постоянными культурными революциями раз в месяц и сеансами самокритики вместо пятиминутное ненависти. Про Евразию то это скорее всего какая-то упоротая версия сталинизма, поэтому гимном бы там стал бы либо Советский либо Интернационал, хотя какое нибудь песнопение на Эсперанто тоже могли сделать. Монгольские песнопения как у автора видео вряд-ли, как минимум потому Монголия ни в одну из держав не входит и является зоной боевых действий как и Индия (Малабарский фронт). Да и не факт что описанные державы в реальности книги существовали вообще в том виде в котором они описаны у Голдстейна (напоминаю что книжку написала полиция мыслей)

He could have united British Union of Fascists and the Labour Party to get a National-Communist Party, IngSoc. The part with the DPRK conquering the PRC is very unlikely. It is unlikely that "Obliteration of the Self" is based on socialism too. I think Eastasia's ideology is a kind of far-right, ultranationalist movement that appeared in the Guomindang (Chinese Nationalist Party). As for Eurasia, it is true what you said about the Anthem. Basically the Stalin version is the best, Neo-Bolshevism seems to be of Stalinist nature.

It's funny to understand the german part of the "Eurasian Anthem" and see the totally unfitting subtitles. Didn't know Eurasia was founded by Grey Wardens from Dragon Age.
To me the most depressing thing about the 1984 universe is even if these three superpowers where to fall. If the people were free and those leaders oppressing there people where brought to Justice. The things that gave these monsters power will not die. And if the people don't speak up when they try to take over a new big brother might soon be watching them.
Oceania anthem seems more a party's elite taste choice keeping the anglo-saxon classist socity where Oceania come from. Eurasia's anthem is more martial and probably more popular with the masses with a strong notion of "us". Estasia's anthem is more abstract with an enthusiastic dissolution of the "I" in the motherland.

I think, that "Eurasia" is a communist, Soviet-Union like Federal Marxist-Leninist One-Party Directorial Parliamentary Socialist Republic, even the flag suggests this. It is basically Soviet Union which extended more and more. Why isn't the National Anthem of the Soviet Union the national anthem of Eurasia (with Soviet references changed to Eurasia)? I feel like the most sensible way for Eurasia to come about, would be for the post Stalin power struggle to lead to the victory of the NKVD under Beria. He was by far the most totalitarian option, and didn’t really have the personality required to create a cult of personality like Stalin. Therefore, constructing a new replacement for Stalin, in the form of the Mother makes some sense
The way it's worded in the book though makes it seem like the whole world war thing broke out in the late 1940s around the time when Orwell was writing the book in real life. So that would be before Stalin died.
It was better (for 1984) if Trotskij was in the rule of Soviet Union, because he was competitor of Stalin and he was more believer in the world communism.

A lot of these don't make much sense. I can't imagine getting the Latin American world to gather and sing an anthem in English. You'd either have regional anthems (ie: French version of O Canada) or anthems with no lyrics official lyrics (Kosovo, Spain, etc).

I really like it because that is the only way something like this could happen.
I think my favorite of the three is the Eastasia national anthem. I love how instead of taking "death worship" literally this interpretation uses the more poetic idea of sacrificing one's ego for the greater good, the "obliteration of the self" philosophy could better be seen as "united we stand, divided we fall" taken to its logical extreme.

I only like Oceania’s Anthem, maybe because I’m North American so this is our kind of epic. It's kind of a synthesis of Marxist dialectical materialism and fascist survival of the fittest: acknowledging history as a series of class struggles, then trying to end that process with yourself on top and oppressing everyone else on purpose.

fun fact because I was curious and just looked it up, the hammer, sickle, and what's meant to be a Korean calligraphy pen are actually the symbol of the communist party of North Korea. The sickle represents pheasants, the hammer the workers, and the pen for like merchants, clerks, writers, etc.
It's a well designed Emblem, it holds a lot of meaningful symbolism and is simple and easy to reproduce.

Well, I really like your video. The flags are actually very well designed. The flag of Oceania simply is the IngSoc Party flag. It represents the ideology. The flag of the Union of Soviet Socialist Eurasia (which is actually an extended USSR) keeps the Hammer and Sickle design, and yes, it can be confirmed that USSE was formed when the USSR annexed all Europe. The ideology, Neo-Bolshevism, is basically contemporary Marxism-Leninism. Fun fact: Soviet Union was about to became a sort of Union of Socialist Eurasia during Stalin's Dictatorship, as it was planning to implement satellite states in all Europe, which could turn at anytime into RSSs. As with Eastasia, my theory is that the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) started to conquer PRC, Kingdom of Japan, South Korea and the countries next to it. DPRK is the only totalitarian state in the so - called sino-sphere which is willing to earn so much power. Also, the flag looks like a combination between the flag of the Japanese Empire and the symbol of the Worker's Party of Korea. Its ideology seems to be based on Juche, afterall. As with the anthems, it is confirmed that Oceania's Anthem is Oceania Tis for Thee, but the other two...The anthem of Union of Soviet Socialist Eurasia shall be the real-life "State Anthem of the Soviet Union", because the soviets (and the russians), are very proud of their state antgem and would never change it. Instead, they can change some lyrics, but "eurasians" may still call themselves "soviets", and can call Union of Soviet Socialist Eurasia simply "Soviet Union". The anthem of Eastasia shall be "Aegukka" (probably with a few modifications). Again, like the soviets, the koreans are very proud of their anthem and would never get rid of it. If you can, please post a video with "Oceania Tis for Thee" as the anthem of Oceania, "The State Anthem of the Soviet Union" as the anthem of USS Eurasia and "Aegukka" as the anthem of "DPR" Eastasia.

Oceania anthem seems more a party's elite taste choice keeping the anglo-saxon classist socity where Oceania come from. Eurasia's anthem is more martial and probably more popular with the masses with a strong notion of "us". Estasia's anthem is more abstract with an enthusiastic dissolution of the "I" in the motherland.

I think, that "Eurasia" is a communist, Soviet-Union like Federal Marxist-Leninist One-Party Directorial Parliamentary Socialist Republic, even the flag suggests this. It is basically Soviet Union which extended more and more. Why isn't the National Anthem of the Soviet Union the national anthem of Eurasia (with Soviet references changed to Eurasia)? I think that the C Major anthem would fit this fictional super state better. Also, the Internationale would be better, as it represents a symbol of Bolshevism and Communism ☭

I feel like the most sensible way for Eurasia to come about, would be for the post Stalin power struggle to lead to the victory of the NKVD under Beria. He was by far the most totalitarian option, and didn’t really have the personality required to create a cult of personality like Stalin. Therefore, constructing a new replacement for Stalin, in the form of the Mother makes some sense
The way it's worded in the book though makes it seem like the whole world war thing broke out in the late 1940s around the time when Orwell was writing the book in real life. So that would be before Stalin died.
