Shouldnt the older car be better off? Not for the driver, but just overall. The older cars I thought were built to be strong and withstand crashes, but not to protect the driver, while new cars are more safety concerned, so they crumple more to take most of the pressure of the crash. If I am right, I actually think this may be inaccurate. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Variant This is accurate in real life. Not so much in beam ng... yet..
Yes, but we have to remember that too much crumple will be bad for the driver inside, potentially crushing them inside. The newer cars still have crumple, but stops when it reaches the driver/cabin.
Variant watch this: th-cam.com/video/joMK1WZjP7g/w-d-xo.html Or this: m.imgur.com/K1FKoAC Older cars didn’t have crumple zones. They faired well in slow speed crashes but anything more than say 30 mph and they crumpled fully like tin cans. Beamng is pretty much spot on.

Kozaktri old cars are essentially tougher but the occupants inside have nothing soft to protect em. New vehicles are the opposite. You either choose occupant protection or vehicular durability ( new vs old respectively. )
Duckdude 001 not really. Those old cars aren’t designed to be crashed whereas newer ones are intricately designed by engineers to withstand crashes. Watch any old vs new car crash on TH-cam and you’ll see. An old car is like running into a wall with a brick infront of you whereas a new car is like running into a wall with a pillow. Which will you prefer? Also older cars pretty much crumpled as a whole especially in the middle where the driver sits. Safety just wasn’t even a thought back then.
Big Bud modern cars have crumple zones designed to absorb impact while the driver/passengers are inside a tub which doesn't break. This reduces g force exerted on the occupants
I like how much more in a better shape the older car is... But the newer one is apparently in better condition in like 90% of these tests. Like the older vehicles are wayyyyy more durable irl
depends on speed, in newer cars the crumple zone is all in the front so you dont get a case of 'bashed to death in your car', in older cars, the crumple zone is where you and your family are eating Wendys on the way home from sunday church
I've seen a few other 59s that folded in the exact same way. They all had engines, it's just the frame that's bad. All cars with an X Frame are like that.
Less damage to the car isnt equal to a safer car.. The Burnside doesnt have airbags and in best case it will only have lapbelts and i dont think that the steering column is built to break in half. You'd pretty much have a steering wheel through your face in the end
The way to have cars continuously driving forward or backwards on keyboard is to press w (key bind for throttle) hold, then press tab to a different car. This may work with a setup if you hold the throttle then press tab to move to a different vehicle. Then press the throttle key to disable the perma drive
+Neological | the Chevy Caprice Estate Wagon is from 1977 thru 1990 in beamng drive. Very long running generation and body style. In fact Oldsmobile's version still used a carbureted 307cid V-8 in 1990.
You should of gotten cars that were the same mass. Because that does play a pretty big role. A person driving an old 90s Ford 350 crashing head on into someone driving a brand new Prius is gonna be allot better of than the Prius.
If you do make another video of this, when setting the speed make sure you set mode to limit. Because essentially they are not holding back when they go to chase you.
I like how we're basing car stats off of a video game lol also had a crash in my 1990 Chevy 1500, replace my bumper and grill and left side fender cause it had a little crush on the front of it. Other girl, it totalled her car and it was a newer year model honda
I wonder how many people in the comments understand the fact that most older cars lack the structures the modern cars have; the sort of crashes that made older cars extremely vulnerable in offset collisions (no linking between front rails on older cars plus no structure ahead of the front tyre; both of which allowing for forces to be redistributed in a much safer manner), and that's not going into the non-structural passive safety systems.
The game doesn't follow real world physics, so none of those can be legitimately comparable to real world counterparts. A 1983 Ford f150 would survive a crash with a 2013 Ford f150 and fair a lot better off, I've been in and seen enough crashes to know. Throw a piece of metal possibly a metal thermos at the wall and see how it comes through it, then throw a plastic cup at the same wall and you'll see metal Is better and new day plastic dont hold up too well
The burnside has bench seats. You wouldn't be ok in that thing if you had a head on crash. It would be very bad for you. Especially since it doesn't have seatbelts, or at least if it did then they would be those crappy waist belts.
Actually those old cars are 10x more sturdy than modern cars, I have a old car from the 50s and I crashed it going 30, not even a dent on it, the Honda CR-V that I crashed into was totaled
marshall mondou do you even understand crumple zones? Would you rather run into a wall with a brick in-front of you or a pillow? New cars are like a pillow wrapped around to protect you whereas older cars are like bricks meant to cause you even more pain.
>60mph head-on collision
"You might have mild concussion after that"
@TyzGamin yep
Airbags
I love old cars they look so nice like this if you love 40s to 60s cars
30-60s look so nice new cars look ugly
I prefer the 19th C Mustang Mach 1
Older cars do look really nice😀😀
@@kielbasathief9576 goki stop insulating newer cars, and older cars are equal to newer cars
this is why i am gonna learn how to make cars look old but there very advanced
Aren't newer cars supposed to crush to absorb the impact?
yes, volvo invented the "crush zone" in 1956
Creativity Isn't that’s why they aren’t made of invincible metals now
Gay? Okay! its crumple zone not "crush" zone
ThvtRvndomGuy
But Volvo called it the crush zone.
wasnt it mercedes benz who invented the crumple zone?

Neil-You were surprised at how easily the Burnside Special caught fire. Well, duh! It’s not called the BURNside Special for nothing!! Lol

Hi
I like to join but I don't have the game
hyh the jydnktgjuj
body mass matters because the more weight and things on absorb the shock of it so it wouldn't be really fair
Did u think about g forces, belts, and that newer cars are suppossed to break to absorb the force and Save the driver/passanger
??? fff what are you talking about idiot if it breaks it going to kill you hell cars now days you barley lay a finger on them and they fall apart

i'll bet you believe the world is flat and that evolution is a myth
i meant Big Bud up there lmao
@@jamespetty5344 this doesn't help you In a 60mph head on crash. 50 is survivable but 60 not really

Actually, in the iihs video, the old car (Bel Air) didn't have an engine, it was just the shell of the car

It was deceivingly rusty too, plume of red dust on impact
Neil forgot to switch to the car limiting to 40mph in the "mode" option on the side, so the cars were faster than expected
This was pretty good. Can you do a part 2 but also do some stuff like old and new cars vs a wall?
Another great vid Neil
Covet hatchback.
-Tiny.
-Almost no weight or strength.
VS
Wagon
-Huge.
-Heavy as hell.
Seems legit.

You should put the old pessima against the modern pessima.

Be it unsafe, I still perfer 1950's cars over cars from now.
I have watched that crash test a million times! But it’s a good video!
I love your content Neil, keep it up! :D
I've gotta say your videos are pretty cool
Cool video, now run a Moonhawk into a Covet and tell me new cars are safer lol.

The second I saw that Neil uploaded this, I freaked like the first day of summer!
Even though the older car might not fare as well as the newer car , I’d still rather be in it so I could die in a much better car.
Hey neil joined the discord! Keep up the good vids!!
Keep up the great work Neil
You should do planes crashing together
You are on my top 5 favorite TH-camrs
Hi Neil great video
You should deffinetly do a part 2 or a vid on crash testing cars in a realistic way 🖒

Do a monster truck cop car chasing a hopper
Then it'll be super cool
The year for the sunburst is 2012 I think and the ETK is 2016
Wow this is awesome
Never letting people drive my cars again each time I wasn't driveing
the burnside special catches on fire very easily.
Blez v semi
Great entertainment tho, keep it up
6:02 According to the BeamNG wiki, the Sunburst was made from 2009-2014. Coincidentally, the SBR4 came out in 2014.
Great vid
The old cars in real life will end up a lot better on the outside after a crash but the new cars are more safe
Great video Neil!

horabl crap Neil.
Do 2012 Mercedes - Benz E -class v.s 2012 BMW 5 Series car racing & crashing video. Please !
Offset crashes are where you really see the difference between old and new.
Awesome Video! Keep it up!
Hang a Belaz or the invisible BTR in the air by a medium-long chain swing the Belaz(or BTR) and then fly planes into this wrecking ball contraption
Hi Neil
Yay a discord!
make this with maluch :D
you know why that burnside is still driving because its better
I don't think Neil's a car guy
Older one holds up better
Someone make a song remix of him saying "bouhhh" everytime the cars smash.
Old Pessima vs I-Series
Neil why didn't you tell me that you worked in IIHS? XD
Neil, they covet is based on a 1970s car
Please make more of this
Hey you should a video with roll cage vs without roll cage
BMW paying BeamNG for them safety features, eh? :P
That particular Caprice is actually a 1977.
I drove an ETK 800 at 70MPH Into a 100% solid wall and it seemed survivable
Hey neil!
Neil anything above 45 miles per hour your probably dead if the car stops dead under 5 mph
i love u neil
Why doesn't BeamNG have Multiplayer?!
Nice thumbnail neil 😁😁
I love u Neil
The reason why the old ones are dangerous is bc you are making them go faster than they are supposed
If you do make another video of this, when setting the speed make sure you set mode to limit. Because essentially they are not holding back when they go to chase you.
