      People are finally starting to realize that Marvel formula is not THE gold standard of comic book movies... if you compare everything to marvel movies and how marvely some movie was, marvel always wins. MARVEL is not THE GoldStandard !!! stop comparisons. movies are visions of people... but some are cash grabs. and marvel has more of those

    I honestly think people would like Snyder movies more if they heard his interviews. You would understand where he's coming from and how he thinks. He makes cerebral films and they tend to be ahead of their time. They also take multiple viewing, because it's layered with mythology, philosophy and religious undertones which is supporting the narrative of the story. If there is seemingly meaningless painting in the back of a room in a scene, you can be sure it wasn't put there without thought about what it means and how it helps support the story. It's no wonder people are looking back on his films and appreciating it more.

    I think there’s a point that people fail to realize when they talk about “hope” in DC movies. First off, has anyone ever looked at the Marvel films and said they inspire hope? I’ve haven’t heard it and I haven’t dealt it. It just isn’t what they’re going for. But for DC to want to make hopeful movies you first have to take those movies to a dark place. What’s the need for hood if you are living in a bright and optimistic universe? Hope comes from needing things to get better. Hence the darkness, the conflict, the turmoil. So when Superman does and there is hint of an offworld invasion, you reach for hope for things to get better.

    What's often forgotten is that, when Empire Strikes Back first came out... audiences didn't like it! "It's so DARK! The heroes LOSE at the end! What IS this?!" Of course, Return Of The Jedi showed audiences what Empire was leading up to, and then people looked back and LOVED it. In the same way, had Zack's JL been released as planned... people would have looked back at BvS sooner and realized it was GREAT.

    8:40 The insanity behind some of these critcisms were absolutely baffling to me back then. Some of them did not pay attention. Some didn't care and showed it. The guys from Red Letter Media however had an obvious agenda. They were confused about the dream sequence? Have they NEVER watched a film that would forshadow a future film? Or a story that would have prophetic dream-sequences? Like Shakespear's Mcabeth? Those nightmare scenes were obvious set-up for Justice League. They understood that but chose to shit on it just the same. That asshole Rich Evans however took the cake here. He knew EXACTLY what it was, even that this was the Flash talking to Bruce. He deliberatly dismissed it so that he DIDN'T have to admit that the forshadowing was actually clever. That was the exact moment I stopped watching the video back in the day (and stopped watching RLM alltogether).
    I'm glad that people have finally accepted the nightmare elements and see them for what they REALLY were. Clever forshadowing that would be absolutely incredible with a repeated view of the film.

    Good God, I forgot how tortuous and torturous the path that led us to Josstice League was. It’s like a bunch of memories so bad that they’d been repressed. I think anyone who was a hopeful DCEU fan had to grow a thick skin fast. Critics and access media types like to point the finger at how toxic Snyder fans were and how they were the victims of said toxicity, but they always fail to mention how brutal and downright vicious they were (and some continue to still be) to Snyder, his films, and his fan base. The bullies always play victim when people stand up to them. Regardless, thank you for piecing all of this together. Parts of this tumultuous path being a fan of Snyder’s DC vision...parts that I had tried to forget and move on...still makes my blood boil.

    Another thing people have to realize is that when Man of Steel first came out it was banking off of the success of the Dark Knight trilogy. The studio wanted the same treatment done to Superman because that's what they thought was marketable at the time. But then of course Marvel quickly rose in popularity and completely ruined- er....CHANGED the superhero genre and that's what people were expecting with BvS. That's why it got such a backlash. Because Marvel set such an (unfortunate) standard for superhero films that they expected them all to be made that way. Even Deadpool was technically rated R and was a HUGE risk for the studio but it was still fun. And that's all superhero movies were allowed to be. It created a bias in people that would not be broken for a long time.

      JJ only hired in late 2019 but tsujihara got fired in June 2018. I Don't think JJ knew about this especially he is studio's "Yes men". He always follow what studios want from star trek, star wars and now DCEU. It's still mystery who the One That kick tsujihara but maybe there's political involment after AT-T kick him. Just like HBO max rid Superman and lois writer who want to forced script into another CW shows cliche story and hired quality scriptwriter
      For me, i always think it's Jim Lee who playing the huge roll of DCEU. His ideas of multiverse, he became DC president and met AT-T boss and HBO max boss just to release snyder's cut. Jim Lee also has huge influenced with DCEU with his involvement for screenplay That even among DC fans still not praised him for.
      You can read last year articles from Hollywood reporter where they stated, same day Jim Lee got his position as dc president, he met AT-T executive and HBO max CEO and asking them to invest on snyder's cut. Soooooooooooooo . . . . .
    You're saying, when a studio decides to enter into a genre, they either need to . . . .
    A) Hire people they trust and let them do the work they were hired to do.
    B) Decide what they want from this genre and pitch that to the people they are interviewing for the positions.
    C) Be part of the process from the beginning therefor finding a combination of A and B.
    Imagine that, running a business like a business. If WB didn't like BvS, why let Snyder continue to JL?
    Personally, I stopped caring what critics said about movies a long time ago. I'm old enough to remember all the critics hating 'Titanic', until those same critics found out the public loved it, then all of the sudden, it's 'Picture of the Year'.

    You will keep hearing the most ardent of detractors say that "I wanted to love that movie, I went in extremely hyped. And I hated it with all my might"
    Such passionate hate always preceeded by the extreme hype is a pattern and it is not a healthy way to approach movie watches. Most of these people seem to be angry the movie wasn't what they expected and hyped it up to be.
    The people that genuinely dislike this movie and have legit criticisms for it always put it around the 6/10 point(almost never on the "absolute garbage" category) and aknowledge the merits of the idea. They just didn't like the execution

I rewatched the extended cut last spring and it made me think how brilliant a villain Lex Luther is and Jesse’s performance. When I see people say they wished superman was more like the Reeve version, it just proves to me how much nostalgia can blind people. As much as I love those films, the world has changed a lot since the 70’s and that type of superman just wouldn’t work in today’s society. I think trying to cater the critics is a silly idea when they’re not paying to watch the film. EDIT: if anyone who says suicide squad “flopped”. How does a film that was number one at the box office for a month be considered a flop. This reminds of when Ben Affleck was talking about pearl harbour “sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes they say you lost when you technically won”. I’m just so sick of the narrative of the DCEU needing to be “saved”

    I like Batman V Superman,always have. I am a long time fan of DC comic book stories and their characters. I feel like I’ve waited forever for the great stories they have to tell to get their moment in the sun but it’s starting to show a bit more to everyone else I think, I hope.

    For the longest time, I felt like I was the only one who genuinely liked Batman v Superman (Though I prefer the ultimate edition over the theatrical cut, naturally), it was the most disheartening experience for me as movie fan, least at it was until history repeated itself with the release of the Last Jedi, another movie that genuinely really like and will stand by it till the end of life, but left so damn heartbroken by everyone else who would take any and all oppertunity to mercilessly crap over it without hesitation.

    I am not a comic books fan, nor read any of the DC or Marvel comic books. My intorduction to comic book superhero movie was Spiderman back in 2002, then Iron Man in 2008 and The Dark Knight in 2008. Man of Steel (MOS) released in 2013 and since then it's been in my list of one of my favourite movies ever. I thought Zack Snyder was a genius to handle the entire movie the way it was and give an important reboot to Superman in one of the best way possible. Remember, I had aleady watched Iron Man 2 came in 2010, Thor in 2011, Captain America: The First Avenger came in 2011, The Avengers in 2012 and Iron Man 3 before MOS.
    After MOS, I started reading more about DC EU and Marvel CU. After BVS: Dawn of Justice, I did understand how DC and Marvel are different in handling each of their universes. Both had different vision with different approaches and different ways to narrate their story. As a normal movie goer (without thinking similar to how DC and Marvel fanboys behave), watching each of these movies are fun experience for me. Nothing more.
    But the comback of Zack Snyder's Justice Leagues actually gives me immense pleasure to see what the fanbase can achieve and make giant production houses come down to their knees. 🙂

    For the theatrical release they obviously wanted to focus on Bruce/Batman, but they still showed tidbits from Clark and Lex’s perspective, undercutting Batman as the protagonist. If they wanted to do this right, they should not have shown any parts of Clark or Lex without Bruce there to be our guide. This way we can honestly fall inline with his way of thinking and root for him, even if he’s wrong. And so when it’s revealed to us that Bruce was wrong all along we feel the same jolt that Batman does when he chucks the spear. We would only be in Bruce’s media bubble and fall with him/rise with him. This would have been an amazing movie. Then later they could have released the Ultimate Cut showing us the three different parties perspectives and their roads to conflict resolution. Just imagine only following Bruce as he does his detective work, as he discovers Lex’s kryptonite, the other super powered individuals, as he learns of Superman’s involvement in Africa, but only Lex’s influenced story. That could have been so powerful. But the WB could be patient. They got greedy.

    honestly a big problem with the Snyder hate is that WB hurt themselves by cutting those 30 mins from the Ultimate Edition. They destroyed the pacing and created plotholes with that theatrical cut. Snyder himself also imo over spoiled the movie with trailer 2, 3 and the tons of clips. Doomsday was spoiled, the teamup was spoiled. Wonder Woman saving Batman was spoiled, Batman's warehouse fight scene was shown almost entirely in trailer 3, Clark and Bruce's first meeting was pretty much spoiled entirely as well. They spoiled too much of the big moments and destroyed the story's logic/pacing. That really hurt the movie.

    The 40 minutes flew by real quick! When's part 2? I remember being excited for both movies back then. I was a fan of the superhero genre. Most of my friends were MCU fans. I was one of them too. It was pretty cool seeing Marvel Studios building there own universe. I used to like Civil War. I thought it was a cool coincidence that Civil War and BVS were similar. After a while I didn't like Civil War. It didn't have the rewatch value. I was fooled into thinking the parking lot fight was the best thing ever for the superhero genre. Over the years I became pro Zack Snyder anti MCU. You can thank MCU fans, critics, bloggers, normize for that! I have legit criticism of the MCU movies, but apparently I'm crossing line and gone too far where Zack Snyder gets criticize into oblivion. Like I always said if you still hate Zack Snyder, hate Batman v Superman, side with WB, side with Geoff Johns, side with Joss Whedon after reading the Variety article then you have no heart PERIOD! Geoff Johns fucked the DCEU! He was Leo the Ford Executive from Ford v Ferrari and Lex from Batman v Superman!

    I could've watched BvS TC even mute and would still understand the motives and everything...not too many people focused on the faces in the movie...its actually one of the reasons I love Snyder's movies...he can make the shittiest actor/actress play the best role of their life - Gal Gadot is the perfect example along with Momoa and Miller - they are few of the absolutely worst actors in cinema history but when you see Gadot in BvS, you think its for real !!! So, I never understood that hate for BvS, even the hate for Cavill's lack of lines, I thought its perfectly clear what's in his mind, just by looking at his face - and then the dialogue with pa Kent made everything clear as day. Or Bruce's look on the batsuit, omg....that image is worth of 1000 lines. You immediately understood the whole Batman story ! I mean, of course you didn't see the details that were placed back in UE and of course since then, I watch only that version but its mostly because I would be able to watch a Snyder movie that is 10 hours long :D
    And also, I loved SS, no matter what but of course I'm sure it is even better in the original cut ! So I hope that will see the light of the day as well. And its been said times by now but Ayer is an ex soldier and he's been taught to be "loyal" - I mean, if (while he was serving) he would've seen an alien and was said to keep quiet about that, he would do it, that's what he is. So I can understand what he did there. I'm just sad that because of WB's own fault, he was thrown out of his own movie, just to make a sequel without him, again pandering to critics with TSS, which is obviously going to be a GOTG rip off. I mean, you couldn't come up with something like this, no matter how much you'd try :D
    Can't wait for the second part !!!

    I actually got into a fight with someone on a Star Wars page yesterday about goup thinking, and the public perception of the Disney era Star Wars films. The discussion, how it is a group thinking error that everyone hates the sequel trilogy. I've been saying for years that the mob mentality of the group known as the fandom menace (the group trying to kill the modern takes of DC, Star Trek and Star Wars) is what is causing the issue

    • @w0undedmakers251
      @w0undedmakers251 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ehhh I disagree. The fandom menace is AGAINST the shill group think mentality of Disney crapping on Legacy characters to make their new diversity quota checklist characters look better by comparison. Snyder “deconstructed” DC heroes to then RECONSTRUCT them and give the audience a deeper perspective of their core values. Rian Johnson and others “deconstruct” Star Wars characters to make the point “they were never that good to begin with...now LOVE my new politically driven character instead!”.
      Completely different intentions then what Snyder has done.
      I’m pro Snyder Cut, AND “Fandom Menace”. I’m also NOT on twitter, because I’m not a narcissistic sociopath and also don’t like being around them.

    • @boboboy8189
      @boboboy8189 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Disagree, star wars unlike DCEU has a lore since episode IV.
      While DCEU lore started with Man of Steel.
      By ruining character from previous lore is why Disney's star wars Fail to realize.
      And Rian Johnson did same thing as joss whedon did to josstice league, changing the lore and character themselves into something That are fit to studios narrative.
      If they want to create their new lore, they should just reboot star wars franchise. Just like DCEU did. Problem is Disney, KK and JJ refuse to do so, they afraid original fans will ran away and now their fear is turning into reality. When producer and director disconnected with fans, is where the franchise died.

    • @bemasaberwyn55
      @bemasaberwyn55 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boboboy8189 lore which got erased in the merger(rightfully so). The one decision Lucas made that I questioned for this reason. You are incorrect btw. Rian was there when 7 was being finished, each idea he had was approved by JJ as JJ was still a producer. The main difference is cultural impact by legacy of the characters. Luke was a hero's journey character, after the journey was complete. At that point the character had become mythical in and outside the universe. Superman however was the world's first comic hero subjected to a literary deconstruction on what the genre has become since 1938. Additionally as of this moment SW doesn't have significant time travel (the first possibility was in Rebels final season) or multiverse, unlike its contemporary genre IPs. DC on the other hand, has had an established multiverse since the Silver Age when Barry Allen traveled to meet Jay Garrick and the JSA. If they acknowledged that in universe, it might ease tensions. A straight disavow of the new timeline will alienate the new fans who pushed each of the new film up past $1 billion. Also trying to please everyone isn't working either, ROS is proof of that

    Geoff Johns, Jon Berg, Kevin Tsujihara, Walter Hamada and many more WB executives were and are still the real Villains.
