I extended my years before, so I know what you say is true, but the thing I asked for in extending my years could never come to fruition, and it would've been better if it had all ended then. You see, I was pregnant with my first son when God asked me if I was ready. I told Him no, and I begged for the life of my child to grow up, find happiness and love, I promised to give him to God to do great things. My son didn't have a chance, there was persecution on me and they treated my son as if he was my bond, targeting him at first and then grooming him to target me. I wouldn't ask to extend my years again, because the cost is too great and some things just need to end.

Sometimes, there are appointed times for things to happen, and sometimes, we have a role to play that what was supposed to happen was contingent upon. I look at it like, the ravens fed Elijah, in part, because he too had been rejected (by the king, like they had been by Noah), cast out from safety (of Israel, society, as they had been cast out of the ark) and even, in a way, marked as unclean (as they had been since before they entered the Ark).
If the raven was crying out that it did not want to receive its sustenance from others-perhaps Elijah was a Navi prophet to them, in a way, by showing them that giving food, in a charitable way, was okay-since it was a holy moment when he received and they gave him his food.
