    It's not terrible. Kind of wish it were at least a few inches taller though.

      Yeah, a few of my ex’s always used to say a few extra inches would improve things! 😆

    Indeed, for what it is, quite expensive with taxes and shipping. Ordered mine from a retailer for about 100 euro which is a much fairer price. I avoid ordering from Weta like the plague, only worth it during their big sales and on some specific items. Thanks for the vid, this still is a great piece, perfect to place next to some LOTR books for example haha

      Yes mate! And I do like mine displayed with the Orthanc miniature, just a pity that they’re that bit over priced?… 👍🏻

    If you already had the model and wanted to 3d print it (in resin), I'd guess it's about around or less than 1/4 of a bottle of 1kg resin. 1 bottle is roughly $20-$30, so maybe $5-$8 worth of resin. Though remember I said if you already had the model, I'm not sure if this was hand sculpted or done digitally. Most of the Weta pieces that are digital are first 3d printed and then they cast a model around the print so they can make it polystone or polyresin. Then there's the fact that Weta hand paints these things. But then that's the thing too... it's "Weta", so then they can (I guess rightfully so?) charge more because they're the company that helped make the films... the "Weta tax". I do however agree with you it's probably more worth $50-$60 (and I'm sure Weta will have it on sale eventually for around that price). Nice unboxing video dude, hope you're well!

      Hey matey - thank you for the info! I just don’t know anything about 3D printing mate, it’s just someone had said it was possibly cheaper to 3D print these miniature prices than pay the Weta price?… I don’t know about that, but despite the very high price, I know I’d personally still buy the Weta version.
      Good to hear from you matey 👍🏻

      @@hauntofthecollectorit really comes down to finding a good model, I've seen plenty of Tower of Barad-Dur 3d models and none are really that good. It also looks like they did a pour of resin on the lava area to give it that shine.

    • @hauntofthecollector
      @hauntofthecollector  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@thecyberhobbit okay mate, yeah I’m sure the Weta one is superior (it would have to be really?), unless you were to get a top modeller doing it & that would probably end up costing more anyway?… 👍🏻

    I like it but I’ll wait to pick one up when it’s on sale. Mini’s and Classics always go on sale 😊 Looking forward to the next mate. I have so many boxes in storage that I should do the same, but probably won’t 😅

      I’m afraid I don’t review anything that I don’t own matey… 👍🏻

  • @jeroenvandevelde2549
    @jeroenvandevelde2549 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    indeed, way too expensive! just like Isildur and Gil-gilad. beautiful statues but out of proportion in price compared to the other 1/6 scale. why 🤷🏻‍♂️? The price difference between the Guard at the White Tree exclusive is also far too expensive compared to the classic version. €500 is a lot of money just for an extra tree 😅 I think

    • @hauntofthecollector
      @hauntofthecollector  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah… Weta prices have now risen sharply, I usually don’t mind too much, as long as the quality is there… which it generally is with Weta?
      But occasionally the price hike is just a little too steep to justify the spend?… 👍🏻

    I received mini Balrog lately and it was quite okay- same reasoning for me, it’ll look amazing on a shelf therefore I’m keeping it. Not as amazing as the mini Treebeard though.
    I’m curious to see mini Fell Beast review once you get it as well
    With that being said , great review as always !
    PS: I know you don’t collect “the good guys” but I was blown away by the latest Galadriel from Weta. I know you won’t be getting it but I wonder what do you think about it?
    Chris

    • @hauntofthecollector
      @hauntofthecollector  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, spell of the stand alone pieces by Weta look awesome - and I did have the previous 1:6 Galadriel (which was superb - but I sold her).
      And this one, equally, looks very well done as well… 👍🏻

    The minis are only worth it if you buy on sale. But thankfully they do put them on good sales regularly

      I do quite like the Two Towers display I have now on my mantle… even though it’s cost over £200 to do it! 😁👍🏻

    i think it looks magnificent. the amount of detail they are able to get into these mini pieces is amazing. id much rather support the artists producing these rather than some dodgy 3d print job, theres not much difference between these and recasters IMO, support the legit companies and licencees, that way we get more goodies :)

    • @hauntofthecollector
      @hauntofthecollector  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes that’s an excellent point matey and it’s for that reason I avoid the second hand market, as I like to think my hard earned ££’s go towards new licences and pieces being produced, as opposed to going into some greedy collectors back pocket! 😜😁👍🏻

    If you order from the EU weta to ship in the UK do you still paying customs ? And if so how much more or less? Like I’m looking forward to order the witch king that they pre-release but I worry about customs 🛃

    • @hauntofthecollector
      @hauntofthecollector  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I personally have not had to pay customs when shipped from Weta EU to UK - but it seems some others have?… So, I really don’t understand why that would be??…

  • @Mrjiggles248
    @Mrjiggles248 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Weta is overpriced for certain the problem is that while actually printing the piece might only cost 1/3 of what Weta is selling the cost of the digital 3d file will be many times that. The real value that statue companies provide is convenience and spreading the cost of an artist out through the production size of said model, this is why often times smaller edition size pieces cost more. Example an artist charges $2000 for a model if you can produce 2000 edition size it comes at a measly $1 charge for every model. If you are the sole proprietor than it is a full $2000 cost for your single model. In simplest terms unless there is a digital model already released that you have your eye on it's better to just purchase from a statue company.

      Hey cheers matey for the info.. I was just asking as it was mentioned on the previous miniature unbox I did & I’m simply totally unaware to what goes into 3D printing… 👍🏻
