Is this short movie made by you? If so, could you make one for Budj Bim Cultural Landscape.

Hi there, Yes this movie has been entirely produced, filmed, directed and edited by myself. I would absolutely love to do a project based on your suggestion some day. However I am currently living in Spain so this will have to wait until my return. Thank you for the suggestion.

Sean Moller, your statements are often inaccurate, vapid generalisations or just glib. Western civilisation is built on Persian, Greek and Roman civilisations. Your comments on Antifa (Anti-Fascist leanings) and BLM and comparing them to the Taliban indicates you are more the authoritarian fascist leaning type. I suggest you read "The Greatest Estate on the Earth" by Bill Gammage if you want to comment on traditional Australian Aboriginal land practices and culture. And the tale about folk lore saying they came out of the sea, that is categorically wrong. I suggest you read David Unaipon's book to sort out that one for yourself. One thing I dislike more than most things, is people who talk about what they don't know, with authoritarian tendencies.

    There are problems with this.
No one has actually dated it, maybe a couple of hundred years old. The amount of erosion on that river over the last 200 years has been massive. The vegetation loss is also another clue.
When the aboriginals came to Oz 40-50,000 years ago they burnt the country into oblivion and changed it for ever. Not to mention the over hunting which wiped out many creatures.
If you say this is 100`s of thousands of years old then it is not of aboriginal making.

    • @JakobKennedy89
      @JakobKennedy89  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I can appreciate your point that it has not yet been conclusively dated. However beyond that, I respectfully disagree. We are currently questioning the very way we live and how that will affect future generations or if we will just wipe ourselves out entirely. So while it is true that aboriginal culture by no means did everything perfectly. The fact that they lasted a minimum 40,000 years vs our questionable 2000 years (most importantly the last 100), and seeing as I like the scientific approach of weighing stats, aboriginal culture blows us out of the water. That is why I would like to learn more about how they maintained themselves as apposed to our current approach.

@@JakobKennedy89 Cheers for the response dude. Respect. But what do you disagree with exactly and what stats are you thinking of?
Modern farming methods are terrible and people have lost a lot of themselves. I love science and history and would love to have a discussion if you would be open for dialogue. Have an excellent day

@@paindude69 Would absolutely love an open discussion. Always when I learn the most. In terms of stats, I mean 40,000 years (minimum) of aboriginal culture vs Western cultures 2000 or so (arguable dates but mostly none compare). And especially the last 100 years of propelling ourselves into a rather concerning future. I know we can't go back in time, I don't want to, but I do believe the best way to learn and adapt to a more naturally balanced world is by learning from the indigenous cultures of each country. They understand the natural process that results in long term global development.

@@JakobKennedy89 Glad to have a yarn with you my friend.
To preface, we may need clarification on some terms, things can get lost in translation re text vs speaking.
You bring up stats. Interesting choice of starting point. I agree with the basic 40,000 number, so we can both agree to that basic time frame. 2000 for western cultures. I do not agree with that number and could you clarify "western" cultures please. There have been and still are many cultures (we could even say genetic lines differ among them) in the european area. What about African cultures, Asian cultures etc? Are they included in the stats/argument?
Man is still unearthing many structures and sites of truly astonishing scale and technically advanced things. Even here in Oz many strange things have been found.
I also agree with you on learning from the native peoples. Aussie aboriginal mythology has always fascinated me since childhood. Now with far more context and information it is even more interesting for me.
As a people, the oz aboriginals acted against their own self interest and never got further than stone age thinking. This is such a shame. 40,000 yrs of stagnation vs Western/asian/african advances.
      Thoughts on that opener?

@@paindude69 Some great points and I agree that the 2000 years stat is a loose one. When I say 'western culture' I mean, mostly, the British Empires move to seek global control. In this case 2000 years is even generous, however I stick it to the timeline they decided to run with in the bible. But to be honest the greatest damage done to our planet has been in the last 100 or so years (industrial revolution, digital revolution etc).
With the above in mind, I would like to consider what 'advances' vs 'stone age thinking' actually result in on a long term scale. Our current 'advanced' approach of mindlessly destroying nature in order to produce products and turn a profit, which largely returns to a select few, has an uncertain outcome for future generations. Aboriginal 'stone age thinking' was taking in to consideration the wellbeing of future generations and of our planet. In which case I would just say that the 'stone age thinking' approach is far more civil in creating a civilisation.
I find a huge frustration in how propaganda as been utilised to cover up or destroy of educational recourses like these fish traps. This has effected the information pool around this situation in order to grant bias to a manipulative culture/civilisation.
If china wanted to take over the world tomorrow, came over and destroyed all we know, killed your family and friends and stole your home would you call it advancement?
