can you do a video on the starships crewed by a single person? TARDIS, for one, but are there others? I was going to suggest Demiurg ships, but it turns out that they aren't generally crewed by a single person. Possibly droneships?

That is one of my few gripes with the EU, for once the good guys had the advantage with shiny new ships and vehicles but they never got to use them.

-in terms of a vessel made during the end of the galactic civil war and the beginning of the New Republic. Considering the threat of the First Order, I can see the New Republic developing something akin to this.

Besides the Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser this has got to be my favorite capital ship.
@@spartanx9293 it's the name of the class and not the type of ship. Its type is Heavy Cruiser while its class name it Dreadnought. Hence Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser.
There’s also the problem of Star Wars (fans) occasionally using the term “Star Dreadnoughts” for large capital ships like SSDs, Eclipse, Supremacy, etc.
I mean Dreadnought has been used as a synonym for Battleship in real life and as such Dreadnought-Class Heavy Cruiser not making sense to people is understandable. However this doesn't change the fact that Dreadnought Heavy Cruiser does make sense. Since the only reason Battleships are called Dreadnoughts is that the British built HMS Dreadnought (a specific ship) in early 1900s/1910s and that ship was so revolutionary it made all battleships in service of all navies at the time obsolete. After that Battleships were built in that style (called Dreadnoughts) and older Battleships became Pre-Dreadnoughts. So if the British called that ship something else (or the Japanese or Americans who were working on similar ships at the time built theirs first) the term Dreadnought would have been replaced by something else. Incidentally I do dislike the Sci-Fi tendency to just do Battleship and then have bigger Battleships calling them Dreadnoughts. And I also love the Dreadnought Heavy Cruiser design.
@@Predator42ID Oh, Dreadnought definitely rolls of the tongue better but think about it. "French Carolinas", "the Japanese Pre-Carolina Mikasa", "the German super-Carolina Bismarck" and Executor Star-Carolina". It is pretty amusing from our world and does sound weird but it wouldn't if we were in that world. It just helps illustrate that "Dreadnought" designation is just a name that could be anything else.

The Good Guys of the Star Wars universe: "We've militarized to defeat the Evil Empire! We've finally won! We should ensure that this never happens again by de-militarizing, something that has been done literally dozens of times resulting in the rise of fully militarized Evil Empires...but this time it'll be different! Oh shit! An Evil Empire!"
It's rather like the interwar Allied Powers (almost as if that's an intentional similarity). Just sort of... trusting that the bad people have been defeated and there's not any more of them. It's almost like there's an intentional lesson there, that complacency breeds strife and the fight against evil is a constant effort and won't end by defeating the big bad Emperor and his army.
The legends New Republic was anything but de-militarized, in fact, many accused it of being just as fascist as the Empire, in particular when they built the 5th Fleet, which were about 500 capital ships all of the New Class modernization program (Nebula Class, Endurance Class, Majestic Class, MC-90 Class ecc...) When the Yuuzhan Vong arrived the New Republic fleets proved to be more than a match for their fleet, yet due to the incredibly incompetent leadership by the New Republic high command and certain politicians incompetence (cough cough Borsk Fey'La cough cough) they were unable to prevent the fall of the Core Worlds. It speak volumes however that even when Coruscant fell, the New Republic military didn't just collapse and it instead retreated orderly to Mon Calamari to continue the war.

1-The Old Republic literally enjoyed peace for a millennia
2-And the Entente powers might as well been actively attempting to create new enemies with their post-war conduct.
It worked though, after the ruusan reformationw the republic had a thousand years of peace. A thousand years is an insanely long time.

Easily the coolest design from the EU
TIE Defenders still have the E-Wing beat for everything but warhead count, and Interdictor/Punishers or Scimitars can compete with K-Wings for strike damage if not self defense lasers. Plus the Incom Defender's probably only on par with a late model TIE interceptor, or an Avenger sans missiles.
Yeah, but the empire had like 3 tie defenders and even fewer of all the other types. In 99% of occasions they just had the stabdard tie's and toe bombers.
God I love this ship. It's one of the many reasons Legends to better to the new cannon.
@Rising Horizon Gaming Considering only a limited number were made and that the new main character for the Cannon is a mary sue yes. The ships took time to build and did well in the role given to them.
It was a sign the New Republic took what was left of the Empire as a real threat unlike in the new cannon.
@Rising Horizon Gaming No She fits the bill all right . She get's everything handed to her. It's also been stated by the actress that she'll never lose. So yeah she's a Mary Sue that get's everything right all the time. Hell she was able to use the most dangerous weapon in the galaxy with no training. She is the picture of lazy writing. This ship class took years to design and build. Also it's a decent design and it does what it was designed to do. I love this ship but it got replaced replaced pretty quickly by a more Mon Cala inspired design though the name escapes me at the moment and again the class itself was built by looking at the shortcomings of ISD and lessons learned from it. Plus it's still expensive to build and as Space Dock mentioned in the video less than 50 were made. Plus unlike Rey the ship has a flaw where it has no point defense weapons...though considering the fighters it has I suppose it doesn't really need them. Where as she can do pretty much anything and the reasons why are shoveled in after the fact.

@Rising Horizon Gaming Also look down the comments and you'll see a lot of other ppl saying they like this ship and legends better than the new cannon stuff so really it feels more like you're trying to explain why it's bad to me when I just stated that I like the ship. If your goal is to get me to dislike the ship or to start liking Rey then you're going to fail either way. Plus the Empire got some damn powerful new ships too so really doesn't overly matter. It's a good design and that's all I'm saying at this point.
@Rising Horizon Gaming Well then maybe those that want the ship to return in cannon will see a good space battle. It would be interesting to see given that the first order's fleet is a bit large for what it's supposed to be. Personally though I'd prefer the ship stay in legends as the new cannon will most likely not last too much longer.
At 48 seconds in I had to rewind because I could have sworn I saw the Battlestar Galactica at the bottom right of that rebel fleet

@@nateryan8167 They're YKL-37R Nova Couriers, first appearing in Star Wars Galaxies as the rebel faction-exclusive 'light freighter' tonnage ship, with the Empire getting the VT-49 Decimator while neutral pilots got the good old YT-1300, these light freighters were built by Gallofree Yards inc, the same manufacturer as the GR-75 medium transport.
And unlike the GR-75, it was as beloved by its pilots as any YT-1300 would've been, a shame that in-universe Gallofree was already circling the drain when they tried to make it to reverse their fortunes.

Beautiful ship and can’t help but love its counterpart the Endurance carrier too would love to see a video covering her as well! between the new Starhawk which sound like it brings similar traits to the table as the Nebula not sure which one I like more, it’s a dam shame we haven’t seen the either of the things in movies, fingers crossed for 9 or other movies.

@@attilamenyhert9464 The said Mon Calamari cruiser was aging, and was meant to be a CRUISE LINER, not a frontline capital ship. And if they kept them in the core...well, then I guess the mid and outer would've been doomed either way.

The radicals are the real tyrants, the moderates want it to continue but are opposed to the radicals, while the reformists want to change it drastically.

-the remnants of the previous oppressive regime
-Crimelords controlled space
-various wild/unknown areas plagued with pirates and aggressive species
-A specie that came from another galaxy with the sole objective of personnaly tearing the organs appart of every single fool residing here

I’m glad we got the Starhawk first. It seems a lot more like a ship that was designed for a fledgling government with few resources, and its design isn’t half-bad. The Nebula is a high-tech next-generation design, the kind of ship we’d see in the Sequel trilogy (and I really hope we do, or at least something similar to it), and the Starhawk is very clearly something of a patch job.
@@a.morphous66 I really like the Nebula designwise, but it doesn't feel right being a part of the New Republic navy, I feel like they would avoid building something like a star destroyer like the effin plague, I always felt like the Nebula would fit a Republic that never turned into the empire far better than the new republic.

Made a campaign that the players where a spec op unit VERY deep behind enemy lines during a second galactic civil war, and all they had were themselves and this ship with its fire power and crew to help.
took a lot of inspiration from the Robotech TV series (epic anime BTW) for that................still proud of that campaign, sadly though never finished it

The Republic had fleet support logistics when making their navy. These ships weren't solo fighters. They had Lancer Frigate style ships supporting them.
clpfox they really didn’t need them with their fighters almost always securing space superiority because of their better fighters. Plus, the turbos were able to target fighters.

clpfox it is the best capital ship you can get. Ecks already ranks it as the top tier SW ship. It’s specialization to beat any ship that made up the backbone of the imperial remnant in ship to ship slugfest is already enough. Making it have extreme anti fighter capabilities when it can already carry the best fighters available and have armament that can counter fighters would make it too much of a “do everything” or “super ship.” Spacedock dislikes these kinds of ships in favour of a specialized ship that can work in tandem with a fleet. Because all round “super ships” usually fail in their individual categories when tested against dedicated specialized ships within the fleet. That’s why a good fleet composition is always needed, no matter how powerful your ship is or how much it can do.
Such a good ship. "Hey, what'd happen if we ripped out all that extra transport capacity? why.. we'd get rid of combat pointless weight"

Glad you guys finally got around to doing a video on my favorite warship from SW.
I've thought of something similar in my family story of how I would have written the prequels. The new republic make new types of ships made from old and imperial ships on multiple planets like the star hawk. They all have the class NR for obvious reasons. But the NR cruiser is also addressed as a star defender since it's made for defensive strategy with a group of NR frigates so allow better results then the imperial ships. They're used to defend against the first order and a large navy of these and the other ships are used in the final battle I made.
The NR cruiser is used for anti ships such as cruisers and star fighters with its primary weaponry of turbo lasers and laser cannons. The frigates are anti starship and fighter carriers. But the cruiser like the nebulon were better maneuvering with the frigates to better strategy purposes.
More than anything else, I want to see one of these ships show up in cannon with a Flights of Freitek E-Wings & BTL K-Wings on board. They are unequivocally my favourite Capitol Ship and Fighters from Legends.

You can see the obvious similarities / improvements shared with the Resurgent class over the Imperial class, although the Resurgent class is nearly 3 times as long as the Nebula class.

It would have been nice to see a reference to the Endurance class carrier, which from what I've seen it is a sister to the Nebula, as its the same spaceframe. Great vid and one I've been looking forward to for ages. My favorite "star destroyer" of them all.

Then they seal ideas from the old EU "the raddus" and act like they came up with it. Should've just used the cooler designs from the old EU to flesh out the universe but hey we have the mega ehhh

Its like Ice Age where the dodos have collected 3 melons to see them though hundreds of years underground. 50 ships to protect a nation with thousands of planets.
Sci-fi writers frequent lack of appreciation of scale aside, one of my favorite ships in Star Wars and maybe from any franchise. Coincidentally, the Nebula class is also my favorite ship from Star Trek as well.
In my head canon this beautiful ship and the fleet carrier variant is part of the canon new republic fleet and wear all destroyed in the destruction fo Hosnian Prime.

I'm surprised that the new Republic had it's own Star Destroyer even if it was smaller than the Imperial 1 and Imperial 2 class I'm surprised they didn't use these ships to fight the First Order when it started rearing it's ugly head and started trouble and if the Resistance had one or two of these ships that would have been something to see Resistance Star Destroyers fighting First Order Star Destroyers.
By far the best New Republic Capital ship and possibly the best Star Wars capital ship.

Is there a source for the numbers of various weapons? One thing I very much like about the Nebula is that it appears to have a small number of very heavy weapons, but then it has the usual Star Wars hodgepodge of turrets we can't see.
Please do more videos on the New Class Modernization Program ships like the Endurance Class Carrier
