    I am a resident of 1 and a half years now and love this town! I live on Brick drive,which is about 1 block east off Sims between I-94 and downtown. This is one of the nicest town I’ve lived in. Most of the people here are down home 🏡 folks and very friendly. It’s a great place to call home.

    One little correction! The bus no longer stops at the Paragon. About 5 years ago it started stopping at the Tiger Discount off of I94. Thanks for touring our town!

    Exciting to see this! I live in a small town in SW North Dakota and Dickinson is my nearest city, admittedly 90 miles away. It is amazing how much the city changed in just a few years thanks to the oil boom.

    Jason, thanks for sharing. I enjoy " driving" around cities that I'll most likely visit as it' a long way from Australia.

      Over the years meeting Australians across the country, your post confirms what I have been saying for years. Crazy interesting; Australians will rent a car, ship a car/van or buy a vehicle and travel over the country. They don't just go to one place for a theme vacation. They drive to several places. Stayed at an hostel in Kissimmee, Fl, there was a Brazilian Construction crew staying and some Australians traveling in a van. We bar-b-qued and partied every night for a week. I would be tried at work the next day and do it again the next night. By the way North Dakota has a gouge too like the Grand Canyon, just not as spectacular. Enjoy your trip.

      Alan, great last name! It’s mine too! I was also born in Dickinson, in 1976. I was in the car when this video was filmed (I’m the female who occasionally does the voiceovers on this channel). The city has changed so much since the 1990s, when I moved away for school. Do go visit, I think you’ll enjoy it!

      This was the second city drive we filmed in Dickinson. The footage somehow got lost the first time, back in 2019. We did cover the I-94 Business loop a few years ago, as well as 2 or 3 hotel room tours up there. Stay tuned for more North Dakota in a few days.

    You are a professional. This is the way travelogue and documentaries were done before the '90's. Great voice and presentation. Nice to know Dickinson still looks clean and as stable as when I worked up there during the "Great Recession". I had heard it went down. For people thinking about working in West North Dakota (oilfield), this town was a good place. The people were conservative, respective and friendly. It doesn't have the number oilfield jobs that the more northern towns have but it was just a safer, more normal place. I was going to talk about Killdeer, Williston, Watford City, and others but I'll stop here.

    • @504RoadTrips
      @504RoadTrips  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I appreciate the comments. My wife was raised in Dickinson, and the town is much like it was before the oil boom, with the exception that there's a lot more housing stock than before. Now that oil production has mostly stopped, the population has gone down closer to what it was before. But a lot of improvements were made when all of those oilfield workers were packing the town, and now, the long-term residents get the benefit of those improvements.

    These are great. My wife and I are considering moving to ND where she was raised and are looking are multiple regions. these are perfect for getting a good feel for each town and area. the only thing that might be great to add to teh videos would be a compass on the screen so the viewer can tell where they are heading in relation to the current location

    • @504RoadTrips
      @504RoadTrips  ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s no easy way to do that, but if you pull up a map and watch the cross streets, it’s pretty easy to deduce what the compass direction is.

    North Dakota’s towns like you to slow down! Dickinson and the towns along Old Red all have a speed limit 25 zone. It is good for us to slow down and take in what the landscape offers. Thanks for doing that!

    • @504RoadTrips
      @504RoadTrips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve found that to be pretty standard when the highway actually goes through the town, especially on the Main Street. In so many cases, they bypass the town with a 45 mph speed limit.

      The Old Red Trail, or Old Highway 10 is now designated as a Scenic Biway. When I don't need to get back to Dickinson in a hurry, I take Old 10 back. It's a beautiful drive, and I call it my brain flushing drive. My parents live outside of Richardton, about 25 miles east of Dickinson, on the family farm. I go out there on my days off and help my dad do retired stuff.

      I'm sure it is. I wish I would've had time to stop by during one of my trips to Dickinson. As a former bowler, and former pinsetter mechanic, bowling alleys always interest me. Does the bowling alley still double as a bus station?

    Wow 504 Road Trips Guy This Is The First Time During The Drive That We Hear Traffic Sounds From That City Instead Of Music That We Hear Like Bismarck And Mandan That You Took In July 2020! Why Did You Do That?

    • @504RoadTrips
      @504RoadTrips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only include the ambient sound if I’m alone in the car (so you don’t hear unrelated conversation between me and my wife). The radio also can’t be on, or at least, not playing music. I’ve done that in a number of videos. I’ve also used an external microphone and recording device mounted on the outside of the car, and out of the wind, but that’s a little more difficult to set up and sync on long trips so we don’t do that very often.
