This movie was actually originally intended to be a TV show. That's why they have elements like "Zombie kill of the Week" in it. I think this would have gotten old as a TV show, but works very well as a movie.

23:17 Closing an eye may be advantageous if you're doing range/competition/precision shooting; in a zombie apocalypse (or in the army, police or for self defense), it may cost you situational awareness. Probably worth teaching both eyes open in this case.

Fun Fact: Patrick Swayze was offered a cameo role as a zombie before his cancer diagnosis. His scene would have parodied other Patrick Swayze movies like "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing". Zombie cameo roles were also offered to Joe Pesci, Mark Hamill, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Bacon, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Matthew McConaughey.
Also, Zombieland is a love letter to zombie movies. It embraces the fandom around it along with the troupes and "rules" of the genre. It's the zombie equivalent to the original "Scream".

When it was in theatres I was on vacation and we had a rainy day so outdoor plans for the day were ruined. The group I was with went to the local theatre. Everyone we were with decided to see Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs except for my Uncle and I. We picked this movie. We both loved it!!! The other group was not so impressed with the other movie. My Uncle passed away of cancer not terribly long after that and I think about him every time I watch this movie and the fun we had that afternoon. Nothing has changed since then either, I just spend even more time alone at home. It's relaxing, and when I need human interaction, I can go on social media and talk to my friends.

Best thing about growing up in my household is that we've never had any kind of entertainment that includes commercials for as long as I can remember. All of our streaming services have always been commercial free, ad block on all the phones and laptops, commercial free music, etc. And anything that does have built in or unskippable ads, neither me nor my dad would ever use. I have to go out of my way to see trailers for movies, and because of that, if we go to see a movie, I'm almost always going in blind. It's nice not to be spoiled by trailers and commercials.
