@BIG MAYATE First of all, there are many ways to train dogs, most of which have nothing to do with the dog interpreting the owners feelings. But even if the dog didn't want the owner to be mad, there could be two reasons. Either the dog thinks the owner will take his anger out on it or the dog cares for the owner and wants him to be happy. What I'm basically saying is that there is literally no indication that the dog doesn't want to do the trick (if it is a trick) and definitely no indication of animal abuse

Lol, I can totally relate. My goldendoodle Barley Barker used to do this to me when he didn't want to leave a place. He was a therapy dog, and it was especially hard if he decided he didn't want to leave a facility we were visiting. Awkward for me, but people were happy that he didn't want to leave them. He was 90 pounds, so I couldn't pick him up. I had to use the same tactics as this guy in the video (i.e., drop the leash and pretend to leave him). It was always kind of alarming to walk away from Barley, but he'd eventually follow me. He died this past July from hemangiosarcoma, and he would have turned 14 next week. I miss him so much, though I'm grateful to have had nearly 14 years with him. The blessings from dogs outweigh the occasional embarassment.

Cute. The owner had absolutely no idea that when he walks away looking at his pet, the dog knows it's still in control. Had he just unleashed him and not looked back when he walked away, like he did the first time and the last time, the dog would have followed him. But wow, the patience he had with this adorable pup was Saintly. 🏆 He must really ❤ him!

Aww. I have social anxiety and GAD, but it seems like my mental health evens out whenever it comes to my dog. She's helped me a lot in terms of interaction, even if she's being hilariously difficult. She's a dachshund mix and their notoriously independent and stubborn. She HAS done this to me before and I've had to carry her a block before she was willing to walk again :')

Every time we go outside my dog does that to get tummy scratches because it almost always works. It can take 2h to walk 100m with him because every walker by wants to pet him and he absolutely loves it. He is a rescue dog and had lived all his life outside, tied up and alone and he definetely deserves all the love in the world. I take him to run free in fields and dog parks for exercise.

The Saints lived to 13 and 14, and the boxer to 13.
