People are so unhappy thats why they post negative remarks.
They can always change the channel to another decorating site, they probably will complain about that channel also.
I love looking at your home when you post.
    Thank you for sharing.

I love your home, if something is dated it means that you have personality in your home, not just random things from stores, for sake of updating home. 💕

I am probably the only person who is not in love with the continuous backsplash----love a island waterfall---but I feel the continuity is overkill. Love me a fabulous tile that I can change when I get bored. Love love love a swivel

I put a continuous countertop & backslash in my kitchen during renovations 17 years ago for exactly the reason you mentioned. It saved me trying to find tiles that matched. At the time the company kept asking me if I was sure as they hadn’t done these before. It still looks great.

People can say what they want, but you are the one that controls and decides what gets to be done at your place and what type of things you like to have there. Only change things because you want to, not to please others. Never let anyone tell you otherwise.

@John Meigs thank you that is so helpful! Sadly my home doesn’t have a lot of great natural light for a live tree (townhouse) so I may be out of luck.
Agree with you, the fake dusty plants are tacky and usually so clearly not real. Makes sense that the designers use real

I hated my continuous countertops at first because I am old school and thought I HAD to have a separate backsplash. My exploding reno budget made me keep them and I'm glad I did. I also invested in the smart plugs you recommended and absolutely love them. I'm going to have to refer to my home as "House by KB" if I keep it up. From tech, to greenery, lamps, bedding, I am a sucker for your channel. LOL

    • @KivaBrent

So true!! And bump what folks have to say about your home. I actually think your home looks very sleek, cozy, and eclectic simultaneously. Like our pal Nick Lewis says, style is subjective but the rules of style (spacing, rule of 3, rug sizing, etc) are pretty static.

While swivel chairs are wonderful, they had problems also. Mainly being they are not handicap friendly. I love a good mission chair recliner. I think recliners can be a safe design choice if it doesn't look to much like the recliners of the 60's & 70's.

also when it comes to mixing metals it’s best to stay consistent. ex: all of the doorknobs and draw pulls in my home are brushed gold but all of my faucets are matte black. so if you decide to do your bathroom faucet black then keep it consistent, don’t do the bathroom faucet black and the shower head in nickel

So sad that people would criticize your home. First of all it takes incredible courage to film in your home and not a styled studio. I love watching your videos because I love your style. You give great advice, teach your viewers, and spend your time making the world a more beautiful, happier, and confident place one home at a time. What Ive learned from you has helped me create a beautiful space for just myself in a shared home. Thank you. Even if you have pieces or art in your home that isnt my style, I consider it rude to criticize. Many designers have youtube shows. I dont watch many others simply because I dont enjoy their esthetic. But there is no need to reach out with negativity. Theres too much of that in the world

I love the matching countertops and backsplashes! Just think. In 30 years, who's going to want to tear out a matching backsplash to add a bit of what? "Contrast or interest?" Of course, by then we'll be seeing beautifully mismatched trends as people will be forced to replace worn countertops and leaving perfectly good backsplashes in place. I believe a cool boho, wabi-sabi-esque trend will be cooler still.

I used a quartz slab in our 2014 kitchen reno and it’s been one of the best things (with the microwave drawer and built-in dish soap dispenser) in our kitchen! I hate tiles as a backsplash-who wants to clean all that GROUT, yuck. Plus it looks clean and, well, seamless. 😝The one big thing I despise in a kitchen is hardwood floors. Not practical if, like me, you like to flood your kitchen when washing the floors. 😊

The big problem with smart lighting is that your device that controls it WILL malfunction and break down at some point! The last thing I want is to have to do a software update to use my lights. I think you're on point with everything else but I will never allow smart lighting in my home! It's also way too recent to be considered timeless!

I want faux bcuz I can’t stand to see brown or yellow leaves and I’m not diligent enough to ensure I don’t get those kind of leaves. But I don’t know the best place to buy faux greenery…iKea, Hobby Lobby, Michaels? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Mixed Metals, don't hate it, just not a fan we had to mix contemporary and modern when we redid the bath, just short of going completely custom, we matched polished nickel for a more streamlined, refined experience in our tiny little 5X8 main bath. it's small, but when you close the door, you're in a Private Luxury Spa, teak bench and all

I wanna know if, with the continuous backsplash, is there still that seam where the counter and backsplash meet that is filled with chalk or grout? Cuz that doesn’t seem to solve any problem if that is the case. That is the biggest problem I have with any backsplash is that line of grout or chalk because it always gets dirty and moldy! Isn’t that the problem with a tile backsplash is the grout? Cuz that seems to be a problem no matter what backsplash you choose.

They use clear silicone instead of grout so that you can’t really see it!
