I remembered reading in Stone Cold's book that he felt WWE missed the boat on Raven because he was so smart and had such a mind for the business. Raven was a lot like Brian Pillman.
Taz said, I don't remember where exactly but I think it was a Dynamite after show, that he hated his Royal Rumble debut because he heard the pop and ECW chants and knew he was so over and he was well aware of the history of McMahon that if WWE didn't create you then they were going to bury you. So when the crowd popped for Taz, he knew McMahon wasn't going to push him as much.

I have an excellent memory, but even I might have forgotten who the Blue Meanie (LOVE that name, by the way!) was if he hadn't been in a match at WWE's Great American Bash and if he hadn't pinned JBL (with Batista's help).
Fun fact, I saw Public Enemy at a local show when I was 13. At the end of their match they threw HUGE chunks of broken table into the crowd. I got hit in the face with one. I had a pretty sick cut on my face for a while. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. The show stunk. BUT, I did get to meet Mantaur, who was wrestling as Bruiser Mastino. It's easy to say that "WWE ruined all these folks" but that's not really true. Some of these guys had other issues and some helped ruin themselves. Can't act like Sabu was an easy guy to work with as he had multiple issues with ECW back in the original run. Some of these guys weren't used correctly, but they have some responsibility in why they weren't used to the best effect.
At the very least, that spot where Sabu jumped Cena, obliterated him with a chair, and did a fucking picture perfect triple jump springboard legdrop to the announce table is genuinely one of my favorite WWE moments ever. It was damn near perfect 👌
It's easy to blame WWE but people forget that what works in one place doesn't necessarily works in another. Sabu was one of my favorites but he seemed out of place in WWE.
Justin Credible and Lance Storm should have been a huge 4th team in the Dudleys Hardy's Edge and Christian movements they were as good as all of them. Taz was COMPLETELY wasted because of HHH
So everyone who isn't RVD or The Dudley Boys. To be fair, I can't blame them for The Sandman. Take away a extreme hardcore environment and there is nothing to him.
Shane Douglas had one big problem in WWF he couldn´t overcome - The Kliq.. And how about 10 TNA-Stars who flopped in WWE - like Eric Young, EC3, Robert Roode (after NXT), James Storm.....
This just shows that Vince McMahon should have just kept financially supporting ECW from the shadows and let Heyman just deal with the storylines and talent.
Absolutely. Like him or not, Vince USUALLY at least makes decent business decisions. This wasn't one of them. ECW could have still continued into the 2000s with proper financing. I get that he bought it just to shut down all the competition, but here it seemed like he didn't know what he had. ECW still had such a huge following despite running out of money in it's final days.
Back in the days when WWE was stacked so full with talent they could cock up as much as they did and still put on wild shows, you could make an entire roster of wrestling superstars with the talent WWE has mismanaged over the years.
The Sandman was one of the most shambolic wrestlers I've ever seen, his top rope leg drop is one of the worst things I've ever seen. ECW : Extremely small pond WWE : Biggest pond That's really all it is to it. For example, not every Minor League Baseball prospect turns into a MLB hall of famer.
But ECW Had Great Talent it doesn't matter what pond their in, what Dusty Rhodes was in an Extremely Small Pond does that make him a bad wrestler? no, people like Taz, Raven, Sabu, and many others had great talent but WWE Doesn't like it when talent is created in other places no named World Wrestling Federation or World Wrestling Entertainment.
I wouldn’t say they flopped. I wold say WWE didn’t know how to use them or never even intended to use them. There was a period of time when Vince was giving out contracts to wrestlers just so they couldn’t go wrestle for his competition, whether that be WCW or even the smaller promotions. Some guys got big contracts and appeared on TV once or twice.
X factors theme was dope af. Uncle Kracker ft Kid Rock yeah yeah yeah. And this comin from a dude who don’t really fuck w rock music. Although that era Kracker and Kid were more rap rock I guess.
Y'all know that ALL of these guys were destined to do nothing but "flop" once they hit the E right? Rule 101 of wrestling for Vince, if you want to be more than a jobber then make your name in his company & not a rival promotion.... Yes there are examples of guys who came from WCW or wherever & had success with the WWE but those guys are few & far between.

WWE : Biggest pond
That's really all it is to it.
RVD ans Sabu IS the best wrestler for All Time
I wouldn’t say they flopped.
Raven and tajiri coulda been wwe champions
My faves are Rvd, Sandman, Raven & the dudley boyz
X factors theme was dope af. Uncle Kracker ft Kid Rock yeah yeah yeah. And this comin from a dude who don’t really fuck w rock music. Although that era Kracker and Kid were more rap rock I guess.
ECW nowadays wouldn’t work unfortunately. Kids can’t see such bloody matches because television is too restrictive
People who flopped in ecw but big time starts in wwe, starts like milk Foley and stone cold steve Austin.
Jerry Lynn is an underrated wrestler
Probably because he wasn't a big dude.
I love hearing Raven tell that story, "who the fuck hired Johnny Polo?"
At least Justin Credible as Aldo Montoya, took the first ever Stone Cold Stunner recorded on TV. That's about all he did in WWE.
Where were Jericho, Benoit, and Guerrero in the intro?
Big Poppa Pump was no big hit either in WWE and only a few guys really made it from WCW.
Sandman was sloppy drunk at a signing i went to. He was with Shane Douglas who was respectful and even conversational. Sandman was rude to his promoters and attendees alike. Should've walked out.
ECW guys really did get screwed over in WWE and WCW. I mean, WCW ruined everyone but WWE dropped the ball with them too. Sad
Just goes back to Vince not wanting to put over anyone that was a bigger star elsewhere.
Is there anyone else available to do lists?
