Also, if you use hammer on a non Untaimed spec, you can right click on a skill and toggle between the normal and unleashed versions.

god, been looking for ranger builds. Everyone just likes to show wvw roaming without explaining any of their build at all, so thank you.
With SOTO I switched my untamed from power to celestial hybrid, much as you have done, but with dagger/warhorn & axe/torch. Part of the point to the hybrid approach is that your condition damage output isn't impacted by being unleashed or not, so you can remain defensive and still output decent damage... It's a lot of fun, and you can kind of spot tier lists where the person really hasn't played the untamed... With this build in PvE open world, I go for Restorative Strikes, and I'm almost unkillable. Not tried it in competitive modes. Paper Roll takes this approach, and I think it works well if you need to be able to bunker... Love our video mate, and really enjoy you pragmatic approach. I felt proper validated watching your video here, so thanks :)
Been trying this in PvP, it's a very fun and versatile build.
I swapped sword & dagger for Axe & Torch
Axe gives you aoe chill, shotgun bleeding
Torch gives you aoe burning & fire field, which will output HUGE amounts of burning if you put it down in a teamfight.
Troll, Sharpening Stone (This is the "flexible utility"), Protect Me, Lightning Reflexes (unsure about this), Forest's Fortification
The traits are mostly the same, as Vallun said they are pretty situational. Except for Untamed. I picked the first one, that resets your ambush skill on weapon swap.
"Flexible utility" can be swapped for anything really. I've had good results with muddy terrain, etc. Sure there are better utils, but with the extra condition cleanse on survival skills and fury from just one trait makes you near unkillable to condition builds.
Going steady in Gold 3 ranked pvp with the build atm.

Staff is really good for untaimed too as it gives good mobility, defense, and the ambush skill is really nice. I've been running staff with axe/ warhorn with the Let Loose trait and just cycle the staff and axe ambush skills. Give it a try. Also, The relic that gives prot and resolution on elite skill use (I use Entangle) is nice because of the boon duration from Cele.
Do untame hold staff like a daredevil?
@@tokkiebunniesno, it’s a ranged weapon, same as with druid. It just have one new skill with ambush mechanic. :)
Interesting build! The ambush on swap trait really added some needed fluidity to the spec.
What's your thoughts on utility skills for this? Entangle vs Untamed elite? Have you tried the healing cantrip or some Survival skills with that Survival GM trait?
on the build page you can see my final decision was the survival trait with troll unguent, but what option you pick really depends on your playstyle

Nice, I've been playing an untamed in pve recently and having fun using dagger/torch, this is the most I have played ranger in one stretch :)

I think I'd swap the sword mainhand to axe in duels though or even go D/D SB and play survival heal for the lack of many leaps in water field.

Might give this build a go as well, condi untamed with the dagger ambush is quite interesting and i've been enjoying ambush on weaponswap trait in pve.
As a thief player, I simply find that the dagger ambush attack of the untamed has everything that the dagger ambush attack of the thief lacks. thanks Anet T_T
Relic of demon queen is also very interesting. If u apply poisen to your enemy they healing will be reduced up to 80%. Thats huge.And untamed has a lot of poisen skills.
Are the other pet alternatives aftter smokescale got nerfed? Looking for some other pet choices but dont know what pet is also good for WvW.

great build! been trying it for wvw with great fun so far. was just wondering what the pvp gear is since it wasnt listed on the website? like what amulet, rune, sigils, etc
@vallun Hi there, late comment, mb! Which stats are you using in pvp mode with this build? I have a few cele builds on classes that benefit from both condi and power scaling. For me cele stats is less about having extra toughness than it is having hybrid damage + the expertise and concentration. The extra vitality is amazing too, but most of my non-cele builds run the Dragon stats, so I am used to a decent health pool.
I just struggle with transfering those cele builds from WvW to PvP, I really enjoy a variant of this untamed you play here and in openworld and wvw its cele, but I have no clue what amulet to use with which rune in PVP. Would appreciate the help.

it would have to be wizard or sage, you get decent damage reduction from protection on dodge

It feels for me ranger is a beter warrior like class.
Warrior GS feels slow

So.. It feels like an Assassin with a pet? That's fun and powerful! :D (i love this as ranger & rev are my mains. i use rev for pve content and ranger for pvp/wvw)

what i should use as Amulet,Relic,
Rune and Sigil ? ( i ask cause i cant play wvw i d'ont have the level and gear for it for the moment)
rune trapper, sigils energy cleansing, relic of speed
I use staff dagger/dagger and instead of the skirm i use natural magic with antitoxin relic

why are you tired of celestial stats? just use something else, there are other options, and if you want to be optimal then just use the best which is always going to be redundant@@gw2shibarashi674
i skipped EoD and getting familiar with untamed, the ambush skill is really confusing i have to look at my buffs to really know if i have it or not , doing weapon swaps/unleashing without the ambush screws up all the flow
yea its confusing, but if you take the trait i do, you know that the ambush is always up when you swap. As long as you're unleashed

I need help here - I tried setting up this build, but I can't use any of the 1/2/3 skills on Dagger/WH with Untamed. Did they remove this??? Someone please help x'D

What amulet and runes do you use in pvp?
Could anyone tell me how to equip the dagger as untamed? I see no way of equipping anything other than hammer or core ranger weapons.
As far as I know, only soul beast can wield dagger?
you need to do the first story in the new expansion and talk to frode to get weapon mastery
hey i really want to try this build but i dont have cele armor ( i got trinquets and weapons ) / is this viable with berzerk or viper armor ? and wich one is the best in your opinion

Got a challenge for you vallun only if you drink though try WvW and PVP with an aggressive buzz i did it last night and it was so much fun
Ranger needs to be nerfed so badly holy shit balls it is out performing everything else atm except maybe staff cata in spvp
Ranger: The better warrior than warrior AND the better assassin than thief. Would've played it a lot if not for main mechanic (hate pet management in any game a lot)
True, but also Dragonhunter is a better ranger than Ranger. The class fantasy is a little messed up there :D
@@eldrevoWell that's the thing.. A mesmer even uses a greatsword as a 1.2k ranged weapon so yeah.. Gw2 is a different game, varying fantasies and I love it that way.. As long as it's not TOO overboard y'know?
@@eldrevo Renegade is a better Ranger than Ranger too lol. Pretty much everything that can use a bow is a better Ranger than Ranger :). Although I do enjoy giving my pets stupid names, like my Iboga is named "I Spit on Ur Grave", and my Jacaranda is, of course, "Ride the Lightning". Can't do that with the other classes haha. Will definitely try this build out, though, since I've been using a dagger/torch condition build on my Ranger for most of the time I play him.
