Thanks so much for presenting this vdo I have just finished servicing my freehub following your very clear and concise instructions All good now for another season - my first effort I’m so satisfied 😁
Yet again you saved me. For the second time in just a couple of weeks I've had a specific problem to which I did not have an answer, and again I found the answer here. This time I couldn't understand why the freehub was coming loose on my newly assembled wheels, and yet again you had an answer: I just had to push the end cap on. Thank you!
Thanks heaps ........ Mine had never been serviced 10-15 years 240s MTB ...... Good trick guys to get frozen apart ..... get two multigrip wrenches and grip both sides axil and twist to free up........ Then a large "Allen Key" through the axil and hit the other side off .... I just did it with my palm. I'm motorcycle mechanic and everything was fine. no damage despite dryness inside. Doesn't get a lot of use but river crossings yes. Well made, good quality materials. It will get good service now as I'm retired
Thanks for the video, my cat knocked my wheel over and the freehub just fell off 🤣 Thought I better clean it up before putting back together. Another expense saved cheers pal 👍
amazing. thank you. bike shops in march 2021 have insane turnaround times and my hub (after 16k kms) has stopped spinning - duh. will be tucking in. this video rules.
Thx. Great video. I have to service the whole hub because its rough running. How to get access to the bearings?? How to get of the cap on the disc side??? Thx.
I just upgraded the ratchet in my dt240 hubs from the standard to the 54t. it engages much better BUT theres a lot of extra forward drag, ie when spinning wheel on stand fast it pushes the cranks around forward normally a bit. its greased very lightly nothings wrong, perhaps the springs that came with kit are two strong and are forcing the test together too firmly causing the drag?
Another great video from you! I really love it and you helped me a lot for upgrading my bikes. I have one question: I have a DT Swiss 240 rear hub with center lock and TA. When I install the wheel on my bike and I keep the TA bolt not tight, everything works fine, the freehub works. If I tighten the bolt to 12 to 15 Nm, the rear hub binds, I cannot even move the pedals backwards with the entire wheel turning and the freehub becomes extremely (unhealthy) loud. Any ideas what it could be and how to solve? Thanks
What happens is the spacers that is on the axle wears overtime causing the freehub to bind up, can happen when you freewheel then suddenly the chain starts smashing into the chain stay!! You can purchase the spacer separately.
Great video! I'm curious if you have any thoughts on why/how the small cogs would end up shaving the top splines of the hub? My local BS installed the DT Swiss Micro Spline Ratchet version with my new XT 8100 Cassette about a year ago and just recently the two smallest cogs became lose on the cassette. I took it apart and realized that the second to last cog could no longer "attach" to the splines on the Hub b/c they had been completely shaven off. Surprised after only one year of use with light riding/easy trails.
The freehub bodies are usually aluminium and the cassette is steel, the aluminium wears faster than the steel! The last two sprockets on the 12 speed cassette are literally just sat on the very end of the freehub body!
@@FreeToCycle So the last two sprockets, specifically the second to last (smallest is attached to the second to last), should not grasp the freehub body at all? I've seen some other videos and it seems the second to last sprocket still grasps, slightly, the freehub spline.
Thanks for taking the time to make these service guides. Your guides are brilliant and have been so helpful to me so a huge thanks.
Awesome video on how to maintain your DT Swiss hubs. Thank you so much
This video seriously helped me out. Thanks so much.
This is the best tutorial that I've ever seen. Thanks man.
this is exactly why i love dt swiss. ease of maintenance and excellent performance.
Thanks. Highly appreciated. Greetings from Switzerland : )

Same problem-thank goodness it was a simple solution. These are the best video for servicing bikes.
The straight forward youtuber. Well explained for the average joe like me to understand. Many thanks 🙏
Used the technique re the cassette on 350 ratchet style = worked brilliantly. Thank you

thank you so much. I'm glad you also mentioned how often they need servicing.
Great video! Thanks a million. You just saved me a trip to the bike shop/mechanic.
Great vlog, I will be upgrading my ratchet to a 36t for the first time, many thanks for your advice and guidance. Happy riding 👍🏻😀🚴🏻
Harvey's Cycling Channel upgrade to 54t, its worth.

Video saved me some serious money. I can now service my freehub myself. Thanks
Great stuff mate! thanks for sharing!
Thanks I like your video very well detailed 👌🏽

Great video,
thank you.
That was brilliant thank you
You're a lifesaver.
Congratulation for video. Can you recomendation a alternative grease?
Thx. Great video. I have to service the whole hub because its rough running. How to get access to the bearings?? How to get of the cap on the disc side??? Thx.
Is it worth popping the seals and adding more grease to the free hub bearings?
Never owned a ratchet hub I've seen them used in mtb i guess the engagement is fast and more reliable.
The mechanism itself is simpler as well. I.e. it is more reliable from durability point of view
yes it is

What degreaser is safe on the ratchet's? DT recommend Motorex but I don't think that's really available in Australia to consumers

Can I use Park Tool Polylube 1000 instead of DT Swiss grease?
Hi, the internal ratchet ring is stuck in the wheel. Any tips for removing it? Thanks

The second one makes contact with the end of the freehub body and locks onto the splines then the last sprocket locates into the second one!!
How often do you do this?
Depends on mileage and the conditions you ride in!
If you have a dt swiss 350 15x100 hub can you convert it to 12mm?
Dt swiss 240s for cog speed 11 can ?
Please tell me the spoke dimensions
hello! Can this freehub be used with a 10-speed sram cassette?
Yes!
