I just like to say that Richard Williams deserves an immense amount of credit for holding down the guitar position for what must have been over 25 years. Can we show this man some love for being such a badass on guitar for all that time?!?! 😀💪👍

Hell yes one of the most underrated musicians in my opinion in all of music.

Kansas has to be the single most revitalized band I've ever heard at this point in their 40 year career. New Album, new singer, brand new attitude in their live shows. Much appreciated. Keep up the great work Kansas.

I have a friend who makes fun of my love of 70s music, especially KANSAS. With the revitalization and the new album I'm the one who's gloating. What other era will have their childhood heroes stay in the game 40 years and be so strong?

I'm really stoked, expecially after picking up Ronnie Platt and the release of Prelude Implicit. We've seen them twice with Ronnie and he can hit the notes that Steve no longer could. I preordered their new recording & think it's incredible. I've probably seen them 20 times & have never gone away unhappy. My only regret, not to have been able to see them with the original five.

Billy Greer & Captain Thunder are often overlooked or an underrated rhythm section that is as tight as any rock 'n roll band touring today and they sing good too.

So psyched about how great they sound like these days. I saw them last a few years back and was dismayed that Steve's voice wasn't the same. As a vocalist I can relate. I am so happy for them that they have been reawakened. The new blood has been like a transfusion! I have become a big fan of Ronnie Platt's in a very short time. The new record is great! Best comeback record from a classic band since Perfect Strangers from Deep Purple back in 1984.

Thought Waslh is missed, along with Livgren....this sounds like Kansas, especially the new album and this song , IMO, is still the best they've ever done.....can't wait to see them again....about the 25th time!

This is really interesting....the singer is relatively new in Kansas, but suits so well into the group that there is no division between him and the band. Not easy to jump into one of the biggest boots in prog history. Hope we see them in Finland soon !

This was the first LP I ever bought, and when there's the guitar double tap after "tell me what you're gonna do" I thought the record had skipped.

You can hear Ehart's drumming style a mile away. Williams looks thinner which is good. Greer always sang well, good harmonizer. Don't know the new dudes but sound great. Kansas was my first rock concert in front a crowd that knew only two songs. I would scream the titles to the people near me who thought I was crazy. Glad to see they have continued life.

1:54 Minimoog solo replaced by violin???? ... I hope they do it like the album when I see them on October 30 in Cincy!

    • @marvinisit
      @marvinisit 7 ปีที่แล้ว

I think maybe you are referring to the part at about 1:06 . after watching several concerts from 1977 and others the part you reference at the 1:54 mark is a was played by violin... a Moog was used at the 1:06 part (associated, as the time is different in other videos due to the timing....

The first synthesizer solo you mention was heard after the end of the first verse.
For the instrumental break, on the original recording, here are the instruments in order of appearance:
Hohner Clavinet D6 (Kerry), first rhythm part
Hammond C3 organ (Steve), first lead part
Martin D28 acoustic guitar (Rich), second rhythm part
Acoustic grand piano (Kerry), second lead part
Reprise of same melody on different instruments:
Violin (Robby) and bass guitar (Dave), first rhythm part
ARP Pro-Soloist (Steve), first lead part
      Minimoog (Kerry), second rhythm part
Oberheim Four-Voice (Kerry), second lead part

The singer is ok but he doesn't have the power of John Elefante, who is still belting out great stuff on his own and in his band Mastedon.

John Had a blazing fast ball and a exploding curve ball. But Ronnie gets the ball over the plate.
