    Beautiful!!
I wish that the people of Borneo will maintain their pretty island and its gorgeous nature for the future generations to see, how wonderful our world once was. That will be your asset!

its the railway track that made in 1896 not the locomotive. the locomotive is made and design in 1954 by vulcan foundry with 2-6-2 type wheel configuration. the oldest working steam loco probably indian IER-22 built in 1855.

I like the steampunk aesthetics. Imagine an alternate timeline where diesel wasn't popularised and we use steam instead.

I remember riding this train on boxing day 2012. So sad that it is no longer operating today. But good news, next year there will be a steam train service between KL and Butterworth.

If you want more adventurous, wild, jungles, more classic with local villages riding the same locomotives, try to take train from Pekan Tenom to Pekan Beaufort, 2 hours journey along Padas River in the heart of mountainous Crocker Ranges. Its only 3.00 MYR for one way. If you take this train in Hari Tamu Beaufort, you can see the local villages took out their local product to sell at the tamu in that train. So what are you waiting for? Hahaha.. i can be your guide if you interested because my hometown is Pekan Tenom 😁

Main problem with this stean loco its too pricey! back then, only MYR 145++ per head then up MYR 200++, and now already reach MYR 400, not sure addition they add and there are 2 loco. Only 1 that frequent use. Old route pass by Padas river up to Tenom town. Today, its very short journey

Perhaps it's the kayu bakau. Labour costs, maintenance and parts. I'd imagine it's not cheap keeping a steam loco in prime running condition.. Especially now in Malaysia, when prices are skyrocketing without rhyme or reason. If I could afford it, I will take the ride, just to brag that I did! Cheers
