1) O rings, with a copper gasket at the lower end. 2) Marvel oil is a great product, but I would soak 'em in mineral spirits/Stoddard solvent/mineral spirits/paint thinner instead. All three are essentially the same thing, but prices tent to vary widely. They have good solvent action, and dry clean unlikely oil based products. That strap you're concerned about is the 12 volt + lead for the glow plugs. This lead (copper strap) is fed via a relay, and probably a push button.
Hank, Wylie, you two are something else. I think you are so funny and entertaining . My son is a similar diesel nut. I like 'Diesel Creek" and "Mustie 1"s channels too.
for someone who says their not a mechanic, you sure do know your way around these things. i agree too that getting old sucks. i dont mind getting a lil round, just means i live with a great cook lol
They make a injector cup brush that you need to run down and eat injector hole to clean them out properly and then once you brush them you need to blow them out
I wish I could come and help you guys I love doing that kind of work the straps you removed were attached to the glow plugs I know about repairing equipment
You could use a helper to hand you tools and run to the truck for you when you're up on these machines and save you a lot of leg work and time. You do a fantastic job there Hank and Thanks for all the content you put out when doing these missions :-) Great content sir!
get yourself a harbor freight slide hammer and then reweld your vice grips onto it. the weighted handle makes the job so much easier. no weight in the handle is why you had so much trouble.
Marvel mystery oil, ATF, diesel because that is what I always had on the truck. When marking lines or wires or hoses with paint or tapes or tie straps I always used the same code for the first 3 red, yellow, green the stoplight code it has helped when you get really tired or really cold etc if you always use the same code. I am retired now and enjoy watching you and Wally work together.
We definitely use the mystery oil we have had real good luck cleaning injectors with injector cleaner, instead of buying a repair manual you can get one on line in PDF format alot cheaper we are subscribed and use them on everything from big screen TV to antique two strokes . Thanks Hank. Central California watching
Hey Hank I'm pretty sure Matt Diesel creek has a kobelco excavator it's DEFINATELY got a Mitsubishi motor in it we saw him working on it when he bought it ,he might have an idea or two to help .Anyway as always entertaining miss WYLIE not being there the look on his face when you tell Bad jokes is precious ,Look forward to seeing black smoke come out of the Mitsi next video. Cheers Kym Adelaide
Great job Hank.vI I think you are going to get this ole girl going yet. Keep up the hard work. You need to patent that vice grip injector puller tool. You go man.
This reminds me of Matt on Diesel Creek working on his Kobelco 250LC changing replacing the manifold that was crack on his excavator. Great video keep up the good work. Love your videos
Yes crush washers for sure but you can take a torch and heat the old ones to red hot that will soften them back up and get one more crush out of them. If you do that you can save money if it don't run
For a big job put the bolts back where they came from or make a card board pattern with holes for the bolts on a small job magnetic tray. these have worked for me in the past . now if your older then 50 take a lot of pictures as you disassemble and don't drink in the processes at any time.
@@Hfoutdoorsyt The hose that goes to the shiny side of the turbo or engine is fresh air. The rusty side is exhaust. The small hose that is in the middle is lube oil and a drain back to the block. Yall be calm, now, Hear?
The flexiline is the returnline from the injektores. The groundstrap is the power to the glowplugs. This is not a common rail system. Fun to watch your videos.
As a antique tractor guy, we pulled them out of fence rows and the woods and used a mixture of diesel fuel and ATF and let it for 3-4 days and they always came unstuck.
You asked what I used in freeing up something that was locked up tight. I use Marvel Mystery fluid when Milk of Magnesia won't work. That frees me up pretty quickly. But, I sit on the porcelain throne forever. At the first of the video when you were removing the air intake, you forgot to say one thing as you pulled out the dip stick. Where's Wiley when you need him to say "this thing is makin' oil'. Good video!!! Thanks for sharing, Hank!!!
Some people use a piece of cardboard to keep their fasteners organized. Roughly draw the part and shove the bolts through the cardboard in their approximate location.
Just catching up on videos and man that thing was WORK haha you guys put some series time and energy into that thing! That engineering to make that puller tool is beautiful!
I find it easier if you remove the injector pipe retainers, off allows the pipe's to move out of the way instead of bending them as they are harder to reinstall angles and such, the glow plug strap I found a bugger, the strap would turn with the nuts 🐿 all the best to yous and your loved ones
Hank I think u should take the starter motor of and try to turn it over with a break bar that way u will know if the engine is seized up or not either way I really hope the old girl comes back to life.
I just Bought 24" Threaded Rod to fit the Vise Grip and a 2lb chunk of 1" black Pipe, Nuts , washers and Pipe reducers Wham, Blam, Thanks You Mam... Mine would Pull them out LOL. Mike M.
If you had a magnet on a stick as you get to the top of the thread catch the nut with the magnet, a magnet tray is good but how long before you get to finish the job, I have to many in-between so it pays to put them back, in their HOME, 😅🤣 all the best to you and your loved ones
You can clamp another set of vice grips to the vice grips holding the injector that way you have more leverage to turn them. I had to do that with a stripped bolt the other day.

Two good channels
remember Hank its easy to be a "chair" judge ...... so GOD BLESS and rock on

I feel you Brother… You & I are the same age & it’s getting harder to do a lot of the things I used could do!
Yes sir.
Like bolt through the center of the rod& bottom of the sleeve puller that allows it to release those injectors up&out with.
Great video, Hank! Keep’em coming! Great content. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks, will do!
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you so much!
Hank you could do A DIY injector removal tool for those injectors. On the cheap out of scrap metal parts.
Great Hank thank you can't wait for next one.
Thank you
They make a injector cup brush that you need to run down and eat injector hole to clean them out properly and then once you brush them you need to blow them out
Hank I'm 52 and I remember my grandpaw and dad both using marvel mystery oil every oil change and occasionally would pour some down their carbs
Smart man ide do the same at least a bottle every few oil changes but heck what do I know just someone putting in my 2 cents
I wish I could come and help you guys I love doing that kind of work the straps you removed were attached to the glow plugs I know about repairing equipment
Man look at that brand new shiny air compressor 👍
Where is Wylie you got to have your side kick
I'm asking the same question not the same without him
I guess wally must be busy cleaning at his dream shop😀
@@mardinjudin3728 lol
I was just about to ask that question
The marvel mystery oil is good to put in the fuel of any pre DEF diesel they love it once a month Cummins BT6 and BT4 forsure
Hey buddys an your family's are great good luck
Got to have that speed wrench 🔧
Stubborn one

That color code is a good idea
That strap carries the current for the glow plugs, I think.
Makes sense.
I personally would of pulled the glow plugs instead of the injectors to pour the mystery oil in, lot less work

Yes that mystery oil is marvelous 😂😂 56:42

Bring Wiley back when you try to crank it lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good job Hank, you never gave up on getting those injectors out, making your own extraction tool was a good idea 👍
Hank me and all the comments asking about willy ?
Hank you doing good jobs 👍
Best regards to you from Lebanon 🇱🇧🤗👍
Great job Hank.vI I think you are going to get this ole girl going yet. Keep up the hard work. You need to patent that vice grip injector puller tool. You go man.
That flexy pipe is the return for diesel and the flat strip is for heater plugs it connects all 4 plugs
You can use small plastic store bags works good for blocking out moisture of those cylinders with Hank.
Like A piece of metal sleeving.&A rod bar that has A 🔩 bolt& nut with spring loaded release action for compressing it up out of the engine with.
For the mig welding, buy mig nozzle gel to keep back splash off the nozzle or Vaseline. :)
Great vedio!!!thanks for sharing

that's a puny slide on that hammer, not like I've seen before.
Hello Hank, look forward to part 2. Like to see the old girl fire up. Take care 👍
This WAS part 2😅
By pressing down on them to lift them up out of their holes by tension pressure on the spring of your homemade tool.
What you pointed to and called a 'common rail' is a common return line back to the tank or pump.
👍
Yes crush washers for sure but you can take a torch and heat the old ones to red hot that will soften them back up and get one more crush out of them. If you do that you can save money if it don't run
Good job you're not an hourly rate ! Entertaining as ever.😎

Hank, when using a make shift slide hammer using a hammer to pound on it and save your shoulder. I admire your determination. Andy from Canada
Pencil injectors are tough. You need a larger slide hammer and connect directly to the top of the injector.
Man that's a lot of work I think I would have the injectors professional cleaned before I would put them back
as they said in jaws you need a bigger slide hammer

I think the strap is to the cylinder preheat elements. Love watching.miss Wylie.
He’s around. Just wasn’t in this one👍

Lol.
Have you ever made A corkscrew tool.& Add in A 🔩.& Handle to pull up with.,or you can make it one of those smack release type removal style tools.
Good effort Hank

Listen Jay, I’m pretty much a master welder at this point. 😳😂
Great content.
Good video, a nice custom tool
Where is the older Guy. at, you forgot him, I love to watch all of your videos, and learn from you two, thank you,
Glad i finally made it, good to see you Fella’s
They make a slide hammer that screws onto the injector to pull them. Always a blast to watch you all. Miss your cohort on this video
He’s in the next one👍

You need a set of injector wrenches. Harbor Freight carries them. They have the off-set version and the straight.
Hank had to use his man hands on those injectors! You whipped them, though, Hank!
LOL
I never used mystery oil but great video thanks Hank
Boa noite muito ótimo esse serviço máquina meu amigo
Methyl salicylate (wintergreen). It will penetrate any stuck metal parts. Smells good to.
Hank I think u should take the starter motor of and try to turn it over with a break bar that way u will know if the engine is seized up or not either way I really hope the old girl comes back to life.
Hank I think you need a set of line wrenches preferably snap-on
I have had good luck with mystery oil and fuel oil mix

That is not a common rail diesel . What your calling a common rail is the leak off line going back to tank
Glad you are going to try it again
I hope it works out!
You had to work hard for them injectors Hank God bless you brother.
Do not know this for sure but might be a snap ring holding it. Check that hank.
Muy buenos tus videos saludos desdeURUGUAY

Last time I was wrong is when I thought I was wrong but I was really right
😂👍
Hey hank, that pipe you needed to remove is called the charge pipe. Keep’em coming bud!
Hank, this was interesting to watch but it was way way above my pay grade for sure. Enjoyed.
Mine too! 😂
Hopes she breaks free for you, Hank, appreciates the channel buddy 👍
Thank you. It’s being stubborn
If you got an ultrasonic cleaner, that would be the best for a home clean for those injectors
I love watching the show . Without a doubt , good bunch of guys with that Where's wiley you guys are a team 😉
Cant wait to see the outcome of this.
I always put them back from where they came from that way you won't lose them
When you make a slide hammer, make a SLIDE HAMMER one with a two or three pound slide and a two and a half shaft then you can move things.
You need a 15 inch inexpensive Harbor Freight tool bag to move your tools from the truck to the machine. AND can keep them in one place.
If you had a magnet on a stick as you get to the top of the thread catch the nut with the magnet, a magnet tray is good but how long before you get to finish the job, I have to many in-between so it pays to put them back, in their HOME, 😅🤣 all the best to you and your loved ones
I would think you may have some blisters from the slide hammer ouch 👍👋🇨🇦
Marvel works magic, used it on many a boat motor✌
When Wiley said he needed an air compressor you went MAX on him.
Hank, great video as usual is the excavator for sale?
Yes. $12,000
You should have brought Wiley with you 😉
As Ol' Puddin says, A grinder and some paint makes me the welder I ain't!
👍
A suggetion here--get you a cople 2 in. think foam mats of some kind to kneel/sit on. Your body will thank you!
That slide hammer mini will give you major blisters between the fingers I think; buy a cheap one if you must at HF.
More weight on your slide hammer. That’s more like a slide thimble😂😂
You can clamp another set of vice grips to the vice grips holding the injector that way you have more leverage to turn them. I had to do that with a stripped bolt the other day.
That wire strap is for the glow plugs
👍
