Drotts were known for having a turntable leveler. I learned on the exact Drott 50. It's a 6 V53 Detroit. The one my boss had was a 1974, this one is very close to that year also. It's a 1 yard 50,000 lb. Machine. The 6V 53 puts out 197 horsepower. In their prime they were digging machines!

Technically I don't think that's considered naturally-aspirated it has a blower on it. Im no expert but I I did sell Detroit parts for several years the blower is part of the 2-stroke design ,but some of the larger engines had a Turbocharger as well
I do believe the emergency shut down on that engine is a "spring loaded to close. butterfly valve" that shuts the intake air off at that aluminum elbow on top center of the intake, it does it via the shutdown pull cable and a trip lever at the butterfly valve assembly. Just make sure it is operable, free to open and close and it "WILL" kill the engine ----- "Most of the time !!!!".

We had two Drott's where I worked in the 70's for unloading pulpwood. They were tough machines.

53 for sure easy way to tell is the valve cover on 53 has Phillips head screws and the 71 has two hand held knob screws on the top of the valve cover.

I ran one of those in the 80s. Absolutely hated it I guarantee. The foot swing was a booger to get use to .
