I know this is an old comment but I can say the same. I tell all my friends if they’re not watching videos outside of class they’re screwing up. And I always suggest Grappling Academy. This is my favorite Channel by far.
I was getting my butt kicked today in gi class. My buddy told me quit trying to win and just focus on one technique that I want to master and attack it until I get it. I decided I want to start hunting kimura because it’s something I’ve struggled to finish. I’ll be trying this technique starting tomorrow.
I just wanted to say thanks for your videos and thanks for this move. I watched the video a couple times last night and was able to hit it live today sparring against one of my training partners who is on the MMA team. Kimura is one of my favorite submissions. This works great when the guy is holding on tight and defending the Kimura. I love moves like this that are straight forward, easy to master and highly effective! Thanks Coach Tom!
I'm brazilian and, obviously, I'm a jiujitsu fighter. These techniques are awesome, great game options. Its wonderful how we are always learning new stuff with fighters around the world, despite BJJ being raised here. +1 subscribe 🇧🇷
I found this technique through some catch wrestling instruction. I use this variation all the time but usually from the Kimura position where your opponent is on their side with your knees around their head and they are holding their belt and arm. Works everytime. Great video. There are other arm weave variations like this for the Americana as well.
Another home run of information/technique. Too AWESOME. You continue to explain things clearly and detailed. And it's a norm now, for me, to get up and check my account, first thing, every morning, just to see if you've posted another AWESOME video. It's like you're my personal teacher, from afar, lol. Thanks! :)
So well explained thanks. My problem at my gym is the music from the fitness section who overrules the voice of my coach so i always watch your videos to get the techique breakdown a information nerd like myself needs to fully know and understand whats happening. Oss 👊🏻👍🏻
Hey! I'm loving your videos and can't wait to try this move! Question, have your opponents tried grabbing your legs to keep you from running over their head with this one? If so what do you do from there? Thanks!
Im a boxer. But who says learning a little bjj on the side for self defense ain't a bad thing lol. Never know when i may slip on that banana peel and wind up on the ground.Thank you for the amazing videos. Such simple direct practical advice. Your a legend mate!
I got my first sub with this last night! Mind you, nobody is trying to kill the new guy on his second week, but I'm still excited. I didn't do it quite right though, so it ended up being more of a tricky armericana over the head than a kimura, but once I had that grip on, I just kept walking around the guy until his shoulder was taught. I forgot about the hip position and the counter rotation and so forth, so we did a roll in the process, but just the fact of the grip strength this gives let me get a tap without any wrenching.
I was just watching this and thinking "I've already seen this technique somewhere before," and then I remembered it was here when I saw this same exact video when it came out a couple years ago! l Lol! So much stuff to keep track of!
its not gonna work on even a decent white belt. you arent addressing the right arm at all. a real opponent will either frame on your hip or just raise their arm in the air so that you cant go to north south leaving you stuck holding nothing.
I am progressing twice as fast as my counterparts because of these instructionals. Clear, simple and effective. You are a blessing. Cheers
Thanks Bruno! I appreciate the positive feedback and great job accelerating your bjj progress! (-: Coach Tom Davey

First competition next weekend Sensei has structured my game plan around side control kimuras. Thanks for this sir!
Thank you for the alternative submission in case we experience boredom from getting the tap so often with the featured technique.
you are sharing some wonderful content, i have no doubt your channel will become very popular in time.

Good shit. I hate having to try and break the grip off the belt. Definitely adding this to my game...thanks.

amazing variation of my favourite sub... another one to try when people think they're safe holding onto their belt
Thank you so much Coach Davey, this kimura lock definitely looks tight and powerful. Going to try this one out tomorrow.
Still my best move for forcing them to over commit with their elbow pushing at my hip with the near side arm. Thanks for this

Thanks so much for this! I currently weigh a hefty 340 lbs, so I’ll make sure to be super extra careful when trying this.. 😱
Sneaky dropbear Kimura can't wait to try it. Not quite the reversal but it's a start.👍

awesome! can you please do a video on how to attack someone balling up on they're side..
Will add it to the daily filming list!
Dutchy R punch them ;)
Really good. Love your stuff. Much appreciated I like this technique but I wonder if IBJJF refs would view it as a bicep-slicer?
Thanks Kevin, glad you like it! I haven't seen any issues with refs on this one so give it a go and have some fun with it! (-: Coach Tom
Sick move!!!!

Lol! So much stuff to keep track of!
looks like the baratoplata, awesome
Yes very similar concept but done with the arms. Have fun with this one on the mats (-: Coach Tom
What's the technical name of this?
gold!
Genius!
Is this not considered a bicep slice? Just thinking of its legality for lower belts...
I almost got this today. I missed on the last execution bit though. I did not put my thigh on my partner's shoulder.
This is a catch wrestling move! Love your videos btw :)
All the same to me! (-: Coach Tom Davey
I think that's a good mindset to have. If it works, it works.
What's the technical name in catch wrestling?
That’s a catch wrestling key lock.
170 pound Professor Tom?!
😍
Damn Coach Tom ..sick hack
This is a catch wresting “key lock”.
This is not from BJJ but from catch wrestling.
Hmm why not more popular?
If world champs are doing it in the last 5 years, things fade away! (-: Coach Tom Davey
Jesus saves. Love you guys. A
