Your winch is probably a proper brand of better quality, but I have often heard that you should use them in shorter cycles with periods of rest to prolong motor and clutch life. Running them for long periods of time without those rest intervals can burn the motor up prematurely. Shoot, why didn't you just throw on the jump box? LOL kidding
You are 100% correct. And I try to do that. But this is what happens when you get in a hurry lol. It was HOT!! The wires were chewed in to. Couldn’t get any power at all.
