Pride loses it's power the moment we turn to God, and discouragement loses it's power the moment we move. If you take nothing else out of this 23 minute homily, it's worth it.
Fr Mike, thank you for speaking the words of St Joan of Arc. I am not afraid God is with me I was born for this. As I deal with my mom with dementia, and my life, I live this everyday…. My mom named me Joan because of all the saints she knew she was the strongest female saint.
Fr. Mike, please know that even when you feel your human frailty, you are succeeding in the most powerful ways for the kingdom of God militant!!!! I give thanks for all your efforts and the power of the Holy Spirit alive and working through you!! Please know what a difference you make in the lives of millions. Praise God!!!
" I'm not afraid because God is with me. And I was born to do this." ....St Joan of Arc. 🙏🏼How confirming to the Prophet Jeremiah, through whom God says 'I know the plans I have for you plans for good and not for evil. To give you a future and a hope.'
This is the revelatory message that I needed to hear and reflect on. Guess what? I'm a human being who will frequently fall, but with peaceful repentance, nunc coepi with God's unending love.
" I'm not afraid because I was born to do this." Thank you Saint Joan of Arc! Saint Joan of Arc pray for us. Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta pray for us.
Just BEAUTIFUL! Thank you Father Mike for nourishing our spirits & helpings us make the right choices for our souls. But most of all for sharing your vulnerability with us & giving us hope knowing that even you struggle at times... May GOD Bless you and inspire you, always! 😇😀👍🙏
That last part where you made yourself SO vulnerable made all of the difference to me. A truly beautiful message indeed, but that last precious part about your own struggle and your prayer out of the depths of despair, was the one piece of the puzzle I was waiting for. At that point,it all came together for me. Thank you with all of my heart.
Thank you Father Mike You opened my eyes to truth I’m always feeling like a failure I try to do Gods will but seem to fall short Lord thank you for your mercy
I always thought Pride was my Pre-dominant sin, now I can reconfirm that. I needed this so much. Every word of yours is Valuable. Can i say i love you?! Thank you Father Mike!! 🙏❤🩹
My grandmother always said always love the person who seen you …when you were invisible to everyone else …I see you father 🙏🙏❤️❤️love from Ireland always .. father Mike 🇮🇪🇮🇪
Thank you Father for your words, encouragement and guidance. I so need this today, in my despair, discouragement, when things get tough, God is with me!!! Nunc copie ! Amen 🙏🏻
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your heart, Father Mike. And such good advice, especially for college students who may have failed a class, may not graduate on time, may be confused or overwhelmed by life and finding school too challenging. It's okay. It will be okay. Even if it doesn't feel like it right now, today's 'failure' is just one small stone in the story of your life. And what seems huge right now, will be (if you take Fr. Mikes' advice to simply say, "Now I start again'), simply an episode in your life where you ultimately triumphed over difficulties simply because you didn't allow the difficulty to define you or stop you from moving forward. Trust in God's infinite mercy and love for you-specifically for you-not just a general 'for humanity'. God sees you and knows your pain and loves you and isn't disgusted or angry with you.
Fr Mike thank you so much for letting God work through you. I go to Church every Sunday but i like to listen to your homily because i always get something out of it 🙏🏼 God speaks to me through you 🥹🫶🏼
This whole homily was for me. I needed to listen to this. Thank you Father Mike. You are human just like us and you do your best to stay strong and live your best life in Christ. You are amazing and your Sunday homilies helps me to keep going. My family loves you. My husband and children likes to watch Father Mikes Sunday homilies and mass. We love you father! You are brave! You are courageous! ❤
Father Mike, I love how you interpret the scriptures in a way that resonates in my heart. The Holy Spirit must be with you to write and prepare these beautiful sermons that are so according with present life and almost always with my current problems. God continue to bless you with this grace
William Wallace was the greatest knight of Scotland …he stood for … freedom …you are one of the greatest knights of our lord …very amazing priest in every way … Godbless from Ireland 🙏🙏🙏
I don’t know if Fr. Mike reads these comments or not. But if this comment reaches his ears, I just want to say that I am grateful to you, Fr. Mike, for sharing honestly about your own struggle with discouragement this week. In the sermon, you hesitated a bit and said maybe you were wondering if you should share it. But it was so helpful to me, because I had almost the EXACT same thing happened to me last week! It was during Sunday mass that a spirit of discouragement and sadness came over me and was really heavy on me the whole week. On Friday, I went to confession. And that certainly helped. But your sermon today also really did a lot to give me clarity and courage. I have Been following Jesus in the Catholic Church as an intentional disciple for 53 years now! No matter how far we come, though, the battle continues and every moment offers a new opportunity to choose HIM no matter what. The truth you shared was encouraging, but also knowing that I was not alone this week in my battle was very encouraging. THANKS!
I just discovered your channel about a month ago when I didn’t attend mass I was so impressed with your sermon I have been listening to them since then… I love what I get out of them… Bless you Father 😊
Fr Mike that was such a great homily that I needed at this time. St Joan of Arc is my confirmation patron saint, many many years ago , and I forgot how courageous she was and you brought me back to her message: I am not alone God is with me. Nunc ceopi , be humble and trust in God. Pride is certainly what stops me from doing things because I think I am not good enough by myself. God bless you Fr. Mike .
Thank you for sharing Fr. Mike. I've been battling something that sounds quite similar, with this temptation to hide in loathing, condemnation over a self-accusation that I've been acting in vanity instead of obedience...for me, it's feeling like or tastes like Despair circling back to bite and pick at me. I renounce Despair in the Holy Name of my King, my Savior, the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ and command it away from me and mine to the foot of the cross. All that I am and have, is my King's and so Despair has no place here. I've speculated that the Confirmed in the Body of Christ are like His white blood cells - flowing and bumping into and eliminating infections. So for a priest - I can't imagine how much worse the onslaught must be. Humility and the charity of God is the place to rest.
Thanks for powerful bible study and great message this is my opinion this amazing prayer like I did it almost two years looks like change lots things like more people understand wired things maybe all world shake about especially Denver situation thanks for prayers again god is good and love
Ascension Press did an audio play series of Joan of Arc, and it is beautifully done. They used the trial qritings to create it. It was really uplifting and her courage and impact were astiunding. Because she was totally dependent on God. Very inspirational to someone who is nowhere near that yet.
Thank you Father for sharing your hardships as well. Thank you for being an example. Thank you for your words. Thank you for allowing God to work and speak through you. Thank you. 🙏🏻🤍🫶🏻
Fr Mike, thank you for making the connection between discouragement and pride… I’ve never understood that before and it’s quite the revelation for me. Thank you also for giving us such a beautiful example of courageousness in sharing your own discouragement. That is the sort of teaching that holds me spellbound and intent on absorbing every word because I can so fully relate to it. Blessings to you Father for the sharing the beautiful heart that God gave you with us every week.
Love this whole message. Love you Father Mike. Praying for you on the banks of Ebro River in Zaragoza Spain...site of the Blessed Mother's first Apparition to Saint James while she was still alive in Jerusalem. Our Lady of the Pillar...pray for us that we don't feel discouragement. "Be not afraid"
Thank you Fr. Mike. I am and have been a season of decouragement for a long time now. Nunc Copie But only with the recognition that I need and want God's help
Pride prevent me from acknowledge that I need God in every moment of my life. Lord I need you, bless me with Spirit of Humility, to let go of my pride and admit in humility I really need you, my Lord and My God
The spirit of discouragement comes from Pride. Lord open my eyes to see myself the way you see me! Thank you Fr Mike for the time you spend on these amazing homilies. ✝️
I know I am weak. I *KNOW* it. I am too weak to accomplish much except eat and sleep. What discourages me is: I have been begging God's help for years. DECADES. I don't get the help I need.
Our clan fought alongside William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. Our clan have their own tartan but as well as lands, we were given the right to wear Wallace tartan too.
We all recognize Peter failed Jesus while he was within eyesight of Our Lord. What he is rarely credited with is having the courage to step into the lair to begin with. He is the only one of the apostles that was there. Going as far as he did took courage.
The real tragedy, as far as I'm concerned is that I've always, from the youngest age, perhaps dating back to my womb time, been plagued by life. No one who loves me and who knew what my life was going to be would have snatched me out of the warmth and serenity of nonexistence, period. God did me dirty. He calls it loving me and giving me a precious gift. I call it burdening with something that would invariably plague me, with an eternal tyranny. I like to say God should have gotten puppies.
Fr. Mike encourages anyone reading the Bible to highlight passages & jot down notes! This is what many folks did during Fr. Mike’s podcast of “Bible In A Year”.
Jesus speaks of his Father (Proverbs 8:22-36): Jesus was brought forth from everlasting [God] before anything else was. “Brought forth” means to introduce or give rise to; to come about. In Proverbs 8:22-36, Jesus says that when God, the Father, was preparing the heavens, he [Jesus] was with him. Jesus said he was the *FIRST* to be set up from everlasting, meaning God put him above all things in power, position, etc. Jesus refers to God as *”HE”* over and over again in Proverbs. Jesus tells us that NOTHING was created before he was. God brought forth Jesus *alone* as his only *begotten Son,* to which then He [God] bestowed all things to his Son - just as any true Father would. Jesus was given authority, and it is with God's power and spirit that Jesus created everything in heaven and earth. Therefore, in the beginning the word was with God (John 12:49-50).
Pride loses it's power the moment we turn to God, and discouragement loses it's power the moment we move. If you take nothing else out of this 23 minute homily, it's worth it.
I jotted that phrase down during the homily, too. So good ❤

The next.right thing is to pray; pray always. Fr Mike, your talks are always excellent - the spirit of discouragement is from the devil.

Yeah. That this the one I want and wave the final goodbye,
We need tshirts: DO THE NEXT RIGHT THING
This is actually the happiest most able to endure time, cleaning your house,
Nothings gone wrong, there's nobody upset here.
Do the next right thing 🙏🏼
Discouragement comes from the ENEMY...once I discern this I CAN reject that spirit and CALL ON GOD! And do the next right thing!
Now I begin.

Oh, there's a few arguments here, this one will be the strange place to stop,
Isn't this the FOURTH Sunday of Easter?
Is it bad to highlight and right notes in the Bible itself?
Fr. Mike encourages anyone reading the Bible to highlight passages & jot down notes! This is what many folks did during Fr. Mike’s podcast of “Bible In A Year”.
Just sending that this is meant to be the 4th Sunday homily, not 3rd
