I had stage 4 cancer and this was the most relatable song I heard during that period of my life. I had “wolfs” inside of me. Thankfully I lived but many others didn't/haven't. Hopefully one day I can hear this song in person.
Ab, so, lutely. Margin Call was brilliant! (Fuck you Kevin Spacy) It brought me here as well. Excellent track. I don't always go for stuff like this, but there's a real melancholy this song captures. Maybe it's the ukulele? :)
I had heard this song years ago on “Margin Call”, but then heard it again after my mom passed away earlier this year. It captured everything I was feeling; my everyday battles to adjust to life after her death. My mental health hit some all-time lows this year, but this song helped me out. As dark and haunting as it is, it was beautiful to me that he was speaking to his mother about this, because my mother was the person I could share all my struggles with. This song has been therapeutic for me, I’ll continue to lean on it for quite some time I imagine.
My mom passed 5 years ago tomorrow. I broke down after reading your comment. My mom was the one who I could talk to about my struggles/stresses and she would always have the answers/comforts. The way you explain this song is spot on to how it’s been for me. It hit me hard. Losing a mom is probably the worst experience anyone will go through I think. Stay strong and keep going. It’s what our moms would want. Thank you for your comment. Haven’t cried like that in a long time…
My friends, I understand your pain to the extent that I have felt. I lost my mom a bit over 6 years ago. The pain the resulted tore my family apart and we have not yet recovered. I hope that you all are doing okay. Peace and love, my friends.
I'm there too, Isacc. I lost my Mam last year and am still struggling with the emptiness. As frail as she became before her death she was still my rock, you know? Anyway, I watched Margin Call few weeks ago, and heard this song, and it just hooked me somehow, and led me here, and to your heartfelt post. Love from the UK, my friend. Be happy that you were as close to your Mom as I was to mine. She's in you. X
Every year, during the first snowfall, I always listen to this song. It is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, in my opinion. It's snowing right now, so, you know...
This song song reminds me of my childhood friend (a dog). We were like brothers, he was even born at the same time as me, but we all know dogs don't live as long as humans so there had to be time some day... After amlost 14 happy years with my bud i started to see that he wasn't as strong and life full as usual so i knew, but i hate that i didn't have a proper goodbye with him. He just went in to the woods to die as farm dogs do...we never found the body so we don't even have a grave for him. But i guess i wanted to say with this comment is appreciate your close ones and spend as much time with them as possible because you never know when the day comes.
Reminds me of my drive back from dallas. Imagine just passing by the city while the sun is slowly going up. City lights are still on but slowly but surely the sun is rising. And this song, is playing as snow begins to fall down. Damn it's beautiful.
Mama there's wolves in the house Mama they won't let me out Mama they're mating at night Mama they wont make nice They're pacing and glowing bright Their faces all snowy and white Bury their paws in the stone Make for my heart as their home They tumble and fight And they're beautiful On the hilltops at night They are beautiful Blazing with light Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one She's muscled and fine When she runs They're tearing up holes in the house They're tearing their claws in the ground They're staring with blood in their mouths Mama they won't let me out They tumble and fight And they're beautiful On the hilltops at night They are beautiful Blazing with light Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one All muscled and fine When she runs Mama there's wolves in the house Mama I tried to put them out And mama I know you're too wise To wait till those wolves make nice
Man...I know how you feel 11/13/2014 I lost mine she was one of the best dogs I ever had...It never gets any better to loose one of them "I never thought it would" its just".I cant sleep and I cant get through a day with out thinking about or driving past the park or looking any where, coming home looking at her bed thinking (why) did I have to lose her so soon why couldn't I spend my whole life with her?...Im sorry for your loss.
Caught this awesome sound from a great movie, "Margin Call." I kept searching, like a fool, for the group Wolves !! It's the song, of course, from Matt Houch, going by stage name Phosphorescent. Man, I wish he'd tour in my Chicagoland.
Maybe it’s because the ukulele’s are out of tune with one another but the other instruments are all in tune! It seems to have been done by choice I think
I relate this song to depression. And the line "Mama I know you're too wise, to wait till those wolves make nice." To me it means that even though you have depression, I shouldn't stop you from living life.
Depression and how it wears you down, and you just can't fight it alone sometimes. Mother's encouraging and helping their child overcome their depression, because mother's know sometimes depression can win in the end and cost them the life of their child. I believe the song is about a child telling his mother about how he feels and the mother pushing the child to overcome it out of fear of her child commiting suicide.
wow. I have yet to watch Ozark so far, but I have been spoiled elsewhere. Today came here to listen again to this gem I've been listening to for the past 10 years. Read your comment. And I can't actually picture a better pairing indeed. Looking forward to watch it.

You might have never listened to it and could have gone your entire life without hearing it, its one of those songs that are "a dime a dozen" but you were lucky enough to hear it at that point in your life when you did. sometimes, it just hits right.

This song is so perfect so sad and at the same time so comfortable, it's like you can be in pain and heaven at the same time.
I love when bands can pull of the ukelele without getting that cheesy empty sound, I think the rawness of the voice balances the song out perfectly.

After watching Margin Call I had to find this song, job well done with the video
Mama there's wolves in the house
Mama they won't let me out
Mama they're mating at night
Mama they wont make nice
They're pacing and glowing bright
Their faces all snowy and white
Bury their paws in the stone
Make for my heart as their home
They tumble and fight
And they're beautiful
On the hilltops at night
They are beautiful
Blazing with light
Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one
She's muscled and fine
When she runs
They're tearing up holes in the house
They're tearing their claws in the ground
They're staring with blood in their mouths
Mama they won't let me out
They tumble and fight
And they're beautiful
On the hilltops at night
They are beautiful
Blazing with light
Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one
All muscled and fine
When she runs
Mama there's wolves in the house
Mama I tried to put them out
And mama I know you're too wise
To wait till those wolves make nice

I love this song but it always leaves me either oddly calm or super disturbed and wanting to peel my skin off.
Fiction Machine first time listening it's giving me the second effect. I am attracted to it
You focus on the melody, its calming...the lyrics most likely gives the second feeling.
Maybe it’s because the ukulele’s are out of tune with one another but the other instruments are all in tune! It seems to have been done by choice I think
